    Sometime after watching this video and seeing what a beast that Roberts Scraper was - I went out and bought myself one.. I can now testify to its superiority, as it puts most if not all other scrapers to shame.. On concrete it glides! On wood sub floors it pops out pad staples with literally no effort!

    Nice video. I had a floor scraping job that destroyed two types of manual scrapers and also destroyed a new scraper blade in my demo saw. The job entailed removing old glued down vinyl tile on a concrete floor after having already removed a layer of glued down carpet tile. I needed a tool that was narrow and heavy. My wrist are to old to handle pushing a scraper. I took a $6.00 masons chisel cut the head off ground a 30 sharp edge on it and stuck it inside the end of a 5' section of 1" heavy duty metal pipe. I then hammered the end of the pipe flat against the shoulders of the chisel. This tool made short work of the job
    and was very easy on my wrist because it was heavy enough to let the tool do the work.

    The 8” stand up scraper for the win. Turn the blade around and it works great for popping tack strip loose.

    I can see the detent buttons on the stretcher pole model failing as they are not going to hold up to the constant impact. Also the floor looked a bit dirty. Not sure how well the adhesive was actually holding. I do appreciate the time that you took to demonstrate the scrapers though. Thank you

    The last scraper is best for demo and the first two are good for floor prep

    i like to keep just 1 size blade on my van so i buy 8" blades and snap or cut them in half for my 4 inch scraper, stronger blades and last longer. i also often take 1 weight off my 75 pound roller and slide down my 8" scraper pole.. little heavier to push but i switch side much less and the scrapping gets done faster

    I mean, I'd probably use an eddy for all of that. I only use razors for residues.

    What would you suggest for wax build up on linoleum floors. Do I need to continue to use ammonia?

    I think “Better Tools” offers a unique large floor scraper blade where it has a ridge on each side to keep it from sliding as much or breaking as easily.

    • @FloorsbySouthernboys
      @FloorsbySouthernboys  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they do for 4 inch scrapers, it is called a jet blade

      @@FloorsbySouthernboys I thought they had an 8” version too.. Great video.. thanks for posting something on scrapers.. I like the Roberts one with the versatility of stretcher poles, although i wonder if the weight versus the Marshalltown would be a factor after an hour or two 😓. The weight definitely adds some force on the cutting edge so I guess it’s a balance between those tradeoffs between the two..

    Hello

  • @artfullofheart1
    @artfullofheart1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    They say the name of the brand, the size, what's specific about it ONCE at the beginning and ONCE at the end!
    -After 3 or 4 minutes of "this scraper" repeated a few times, you can't remember what "this scraper" is!
    All I remember is "this scraper", "that scraper, "the other scraper"
    PLEASE repeat the brand name and size of blade a few times during each demonstration for each blade.
    DON’T just say "this scraper", "that scraper, "the other scraper" most of the time.
    - This long handled 6" Marshall floor scraper etc. a few times in each demo is much more helpful.
    Also a chart at the end of the video or written in the Description, of the pros and cons of each tool ,
    would help those who learn by reading and writing information.
    People learn four core ways visually by seeing, auditorily by hearing, reading and writing, and kinesthetically by hands on.
