In this passionate, touching and very personal discussion, Dr Bessel van der Kolk talks to Benjamin Fry, the founder of Khiron Clinics, about many of the considerations that go into choosing residential trauma treatment.
Residential treatment options can be very confusing. People often only try to find out what is available once they are already in crisis. Individuals and clinicians often struggle to know what to do when outpatient treatment is not enough for someone struggling with trauma.
This engaging talk covers many important topics, including:
    - How treatments can be negatively influenced by what insurance companies decide to pay for (an “outside in” approach)
    - How Khiron Clinics take an “inside out” approach to the whole person which reverses this dynamic, putting “the body” first instead
    - How clinicians and staff can be caught between these two approaches and what they can do about it
    - How innovations from Dr van der Kolk’s research has allowed Khiron Clinics to help people rediscover hope for successful treatment
    - How important access to treatment is, and why Khiron Clinics pay for travel to their clinics from anywhere in the world
    - How maintaining a rebellious and innovative attitude to treatment pathways opens new ways to improve treatment outcomes
Please watch this video now and forward it to your friends and colleagues who may need to know about this excellent residential trauma treatment resource.

Dr. Van Der Kolk's statement, "If at first, you don't succeed, see what else is out there," resonated deeply for me. That's how I learned about The Body Keeps the Score, which taught me about EMDR. Thank you so much for your work and contributions to our understanding of trauma and its various forms & causes.

Yes, it's all about experimenting...alas, I don't have much time left.

Benjamin, I love the container circles. Delighted to hear that neurofeedback is included in your program. Trauma underlies so many mental health issues and neurofeedback is well suited to help the brain regain stability and promote resilience. I'd love to connect with you.

I want so much to be in a residential treatment facility. I cannot afford it. Not at all. Hurts my heart that I know help is out there - right there!- yet I can't have access. So unfair. I slip away a tiny bit more every day. Nothing is planned, and I doubt it ever will be. I want to feel, and then to feel better.

I'm so sorry to hear that. It's a terrible problem of the set up of our current healthcare system. My dream is that we are funded by gifts or grants and can assist people through treatment, but at the moment that seems a long way off.

Hello Benjamin. Is it alright to use your first name? 🤔
I emailed Dr van der Kolk re my willingness to be a Guest Survivor at the Conference. I'd love an opportunity to meet you and others who are working so diligently to assist Trauma Survivors. I honor your efforts and appreciate you.

Have been yearning for at least a convalescent space. You've "built something better"... praying the dollars will come.

The Google reviews of this Clinic are very mixed. Many terrible reviews that some people were more traumatised by the staff there than before they went there. Just be careful if you choose a trauma retreat to research it properly so you know what to expect. You don't want to be retraumatised by a trauma treatment centre.

Are the Khiron Clinics affiliated with Khiron Life Sciences Corp and Zerenia clinics which rely heavily on Cannabis as treatment?

Hello. Thanks for your question. No they are not 😊
