Welcome to YOLF. Make yourself at home. This might be a series, or it might get punted over to the 2nd Channel. Depends on how much you all enjoy it. Let me know if you enjoyed the video, any constructive criticism about the style if you have any, and any stories about DS2 Fists Only you might have! Thanks much much.
I love this, and i actually chose to farm Rhoy to acquire my roids but i kinda cheated and used a sword to kill him 50 times but man is it fun to do fist only
Oh important detail about flynn's ring that a lot of people misunderstand because it works differently in DS3, but in DS2 is scales with how low your vitality stat is, not your equip burden. It has nothing to do with how much or little weight you are wearing. Just refrain from leveling up your vitality and you will get that sweet 50 extra AR damage boost
@@tylerherdman1755 It does scale with equip load, your maximum equip load, that is. If it was strictly VIT, you could use rings that increase equip load without any ar loss. You progressively start losing ar from any 0.5 extra equip load you have over 60, making 14 VIT the sweetspot without any rings. I usually go with 10 VIT + Third/Second Dragon Ring whenever I want to use the Flynn's ring. As a side note, the flynn's ring's bonus is weird in that it gives it's full bonus ar to infused weapons instead of being reduced, and that it doesn't boost the damage of bows and crossbows.
Not only does it have the highest AR of all fist weapons, but that AR is pure strike damage that can easily exceed 500 points if you are really determined to do so. It also has *really strong poise damage*. Strike is called The King of Damage types in 2 for a reason: Damn near everything is weak to it. Translation: 500 points of Fuck You. (Edit: You could easily get 500 AR within the parameters of a typical 150-155 PvP build, so you could easily exceed that if you weren't planning to limit yourself to such a low level. Vanquishers is no joke)
@@Lemontarts01 Your fists in DS2 are considered strike damage and like 75% enemies (base game) are weak to it, if not completely neutral to this type of damage. NG+7 skyrockets all health of enemies and bosses to high levels but their resistances are still the same, meanining if you deal 200 dmg with B and C scaling on STR and DEX while having 99 in both, you can dish out insane DPS, because fists have the lowest stamina cost, right behing daggers. Also if you use it with Stone ring, Ring of Blades and Flynn Ring you can completely obliterate some of the enemies without being touched. NG+7 is mainly about dodging as pretty much everything can easily kill you.
This. During my Dual Caestus run, the Stone Ring basically ensures nothing short of bosses get to fight back, once you hit them first. The only enemies that didn’t get stunned, were the charred knights during the Ivory King fight. I had to switch to the Bone Fist for them.
I remember doing this challenge run some months ago. The funny thing is, not only is it actually a pretty simple challenge if you know what to do, but the final build once you have the correct rings and the gauntlets is insanely powerful, and legit a build you could use on a normal run. The DPS of the two handed moveset shreds late game bosses. Honestly, I would recommand doing it to anyone willing to do a fun challenge that leads to unexpected yet powerful builds that you haven't tried out before.
@@Sletchman this sounds easier than my first run at sl1 ds3 challenge. i wanted to get the early boost by defeating the dancer early on without going to the walls for some reason and i grinded those hollows to get titanate so i can upgrade my weapon to +4 it took me around 3-4 hours with my luck tho in hindsight it would've been so much easier to go to the swamp to get enough titanite to upgrade it to +6 and it would've been faster

I think having a super simple "Guide to making challenge runs viable" like this is awesome! I think doing a YOLF video and having the community come together on a single run, all trying it at the same time would be incredible, seeing everyone pooling together ideas and support during it
This is a brilliant addition to you're regular content. It's really cool to see what goes into these runs. Hopefully enough people agree to make it a regular addition.
*Lemon:* I'm going to call my new series "Ye Of Little Faith". *Also Lemon:* So for this first challenge, we're going to start as the class with the most Faith. Also, fists are hilariously strong in DS2. I don't know about the Vanquisher's Seal specifically, but powerstanced Caestus are basically Sellsword Twinblades that deal Strike damage.
The seal has higher Base damage, but I don't think it has any counter damage bonus. The caestus has a 30% counter damage bonus, while the bone fist has like 50%
Wow, this new series seems really interesting, a clean, non confusing breakdown of steps needed and sparking people to see if they are interested in giving it a go to boot. Would love to see what other YOLF videos may come out.
I remember doing this exact plan before Scholar when Rhoy only spawned 12 times for each Bonfire Ascetic so you needed 4 in total (4 x 12 = 48). +1 from the initial encounter and another from some other place. Playing up until the Iron Keep just to finally be able to farm was a hassle.
I really enjoyed this! My favorite part of your challenge runs is the elaborate routing that has to go into making them even remotely viable, so in a lot of ways this condenses the best parts into one convenient package
Absolutely love this kind of content, it scratches much of the "Need more backlogs videos" itch and (I assume) is easier to make than actually doing a giant run like this! Looking forward to more!
I honestly love this, with all of the numbers and the process explaining not only is it something to get lost in it’s nice to put on in the background. Exited for more!
I LOVE the idea of this as a series, I usually care most about the techniques and ideas that go into these runs and not about the runs themselves. Hope this becomes a thing
This kind of content is really awesome. I love this insight into the preparation that goes into challenge running, because I do it myself on occasion. I think a lot of viewers that aren't runners themselves think a lot of stuff is possible, without thinking of what would be feasible.
To be honest, I enjoyed watching the challenge runs so far, but haven’t put much thought about how one would approach a task like that. As someone with little to no challenge runs experience, the series ( i hope it becomes a series ) gives me really interesting insight in how its done behind the scenes. I don’t know how you came up with that idea, but I’m glad you did! Everything is laid down well and its easy to follow ( might even tempt me to give the run a try ). Great new addition to the video collection, Lemon! Hope to see this turn into a series

If/when you do this challenge run, I hope that it goes at least somewhat according to plan.
Oh hey, I’m currently doing this challenge! All I have left is to finish up the Ivory King DLC as well the Sunken King DLC and then the throne. I like videos like these. The most interesting part (for me) of challenge runs is looking at all the mechanics that work together to make it possible or extremely difficult. This is cool - and interesting to see, definately wouldn't mind seeing more of it. One caveat tho - no actual instructions on how to transform into a patience elemental to actually perform the runs.
I like this style of video. I think adding some drawn bits to give a visual aid that isn't just a wiki article might help keep people's eyes on the video.
Would love this to be series because it would allow for more challenges to be shown on the channel without having to clog up your flow of challenge runs with stuff like this that would take up the time that could have been spent doing one or more complete other runs.
I like this format, I mostly play your videos for the audio doing something else in the meantime. Just like with the livestreams it's mostly interesting to hear about your knowledge about the game and such. Could be a good idea for the runs that wouldn't be interesting to record or to cut down the time of the actual challenge runs.

Love the format, super interesting!
This is cool - and interesting to see, definately wouldn't mind seeing more of it. One caveat tho - no actual instructions on how to transform into a patience elemental to actually perform the runs.
ALWAYS enjoy your content. ALWAYS want more videos
Fascinating series and really a great video!
I like this style of video. I think adding some drawn bits to give a visual aid that isn't just a wiki article might help keep people's eyes on the video.
This type of content is great! More, please
Great video Lemon keep up this series!
Oh he's actually going to Fist Only the Dark Souls Trilogy. I want more of this.
These videos are a great break time snack
Oh I need to see more of this series
Would love this to be series because it would allow for more challenges to be shown on the channel without having to clog up your flow of challenge runs with stuff like this that would take up the time that could have been spent doing one or more complete other runs.
Would love to see more of these videos it’s a cool series!
This series seems great, would love to see it interspersed with the normal challenge run videos!
I like this format, I mostly play your videos for the audio doing something else in the meantime. Just like with the livestreams it's mostly interesting to hear about your knowledge about the game and such.
Could be a good idea for the runs that wouldn't be interesting to record or to cut down the time of the actual challenge runs.
cool video, i'm excited to see more in this series
I like the idea for this series, makes me want to go and try the run.
