- Follows the Pacific Coast Highway (CA-1) at dusk from near Point Mugu through Malibu to Santa Monica where we pick up I-10 East to Los Angeles. All music and equipment FAQ'a re in the closing credits.

I'm from here and drive the PCH almost everyday that's my home...the drive is always great except traffic but the sunsets on the PCH are the best just a post card of beauty. Driving the coast always feels like the first time. Thanks Jimbo...

I'm amazed by how many roads in California have higher speed limits than they'd have elsewhere. On the one hand, this means you don't have to watch your speedometer as carefully. On the other hand, you have to be very careful as a pedestrian and realize that vehicles are approaching faster than you think.
PCH had so many cars parked along the side of the road in a 55 mph speed zone. I think of 55 mph speed zones as being in wide open spaces without pedestrians and bicycle traffic. I'm amazed that the speed limit was 45 mph through "downtown" Malibu and into Santa Monica in spite of the numerous intersections, driveways, parked cars, etc. In most other places, the speed limit through those areas would have been 30-35 mph at most.
Jason Hsu In Texas some areas will have 60 mph in crowded areas and Austin has a few 80 mph toll roads although I haven’t gone there in a while.

Traffic will be killer this time of day!'. No 'the'. Who knows,. Lived here all my life and never thought about it!. Oh! But heyyyyy....we do say 'take the 1'. 'You can take the 1 all the way up the coast - it's amazing.' Yeah, what can I say. Tomatoes tomatoes let's call the whole thing off. :)

This drive was a favorite of mine when I lived in the valley. I usually don't get the opportunity to do this drive when I visit my mom . But, on my trip last month, I insisted on it for our return trip back to the valley after visiting Camarillo. My mom, who hasn't done this drive in many years, said it felt like being on a mini-vacation, which also included taking Topanga Canyon north from PCH.

Thanks, I was shooting for that kind of vibe, thanks...I've been lucky on this part of the 10, this may have been my worst ride on it and it wasn't bad.
Oh man, the beginning of this video, was such an adrenaline rush, and the music track matched the scenic route perfectly! Had to adjusted to all of the twist and turns on the roads, but it was fun!!! :-)

Wow Jim!! Seriously, this is some awesome stuff here! A nice relaxing music track, a major freeway terminus & some bonus footage. Couldn’t help but notice around the 13:25 mark it looks like they were building a road going up the side of the mountain along the PCH. Like they need more cliffside homes there!!
Thank you! There actually used to be some roads up the sides of the cliffs, not sure if that one is new or just an old one getting rebuilt, but that really is a great drive in person.

I was just there during fall break!
I lived in Oxnard in 1971 while stationed at Pt. Mugu Naval Air Station. I drove that route many times heading toward Santa Monica. Did you know that the Pt. Mugu rock was "created" when the highway was eroded away by wave action along the coast. The highway used to go on the west side of the "rock". Parts of the road were still there in 1971. A new "road cut" was made in the mountainside and that left the "rock" that we all know. I saw the proposed route of the "Pacific Coast Freeway" in a brochure. Had it been built it would have ruined the coastline and been EXTREMELY expensive. The Ventura freeway was only 4 lanes then and has since been widened and works fine. The only section of the Pacific Coast freeway that was built runs from just north of Oxnard to the Pt. Mugu base.
Did not know that about the rock and yeah, I can't imagine how expensive that freeway would have been to build.

What if you show route progress in the upper right or left corner so the watcher can see where you are in the map at this particular moment. It is just a suggestion.
