Imagine a white American producer going to a Chinese movie studio and sitting there barely speaking Chinese while everybody around him ridicules lets say "Game of Thrones". People would spit so much racist shit. No one is better or worse, we just gotta learn to put ourselves into others shoes. we don't love the soap opera like crazy... it is just, the show is on the tele repeatedly during the summer. that being said, as an high school graduate i have seen that show for at least 10 years. it is the classic soap opera only appreciated when you are still young, like kindergarten kids.. I still watch it when I grow up cause it is very funny and ironic to me now. I laugh so hard

Captain China here. Show is called '还珠格格'. Over 200 TV channels so they still play this show on tv in China every year, along with 'Journey to the west'(1986) and few other old shows. It's good show at the time, now days it's just cheesy to watch.
