The South Korean guards look nice but they are absolute bad asses. The DMZ guard selection process is extremely selective as far as height, weight, and physical fitness. Most of them have blackbelts in Hapkido and Taekwondo.
Strictly speaking DMZ guards do not practice taekwondo. The ROK military ditched taekwondo soon after it was accepted as an olympia sport. Most active personnel study TKM which is a newer more advanced combat system.

But they probably have an exact replica of such a conference room in South Korea as a tourist attraction which is not far from the actual border. So Conan and Yuen first went to the actual border, then borrowed the Janet Jackson backup guy during his break and went to the simulated conference room. Because this was done on short notice, they couldn't find a North Korean uniform for the guy playing the North Korean to wear(or Conan suggested this mountie or motorcycle cop look as a counterpoint to the Janet Jackson backup dancer look) and they went with it. It's not all made up because during actual conferences, there would be real North Korean and South Korean guards wearing sunglasses standing on opposite sides and touching or passing them is considered an act of war.

The South Korean guards look nice but they are absolute bad asses. The DMZ guard selection process is extremely selective as far as height, weight, and physical fitness. Most of them have blackbelts in Hapkido and Taekwondo.

Strictly speaking DMZ guards do not practice taekwondo. The ROK military ditched taekwondo soon after it was accepted as an olympia sport. Most active personnel study TKM which is a newer more advanced combat system.

@@IronicSonics Pretty sure they aren't in those border conference rooms to begin with. Those wouldn't be open to anyone except to the leaders of the two nations and then only during official peace talks.
But they probably have an exact replica of such a conference room in South Korea as a tourist attraction which is not far from the actual border. So Conan and Yuen first went to the actual border, then borrowed the Janet Jackson backup guy during his break and went to the simulated conference room. Because this was done on short notice, they couldn't find a North Korean uniform for the guy playing the North Korean to wear(or Conan suggested this mountie or motorcycle cop look as a counterpoint to the Janet Jackson backup dancer look) and they went with it. It's not all made up because during actual conferences, there would be real North Korean and South Korean guards wearing sunglasses standing on opposite sides and touching or passing them is considered an act of war.
