Omg!! Thank you sooooo much!!! I've been watching TH-cam videos since Last night trying to get my phone to turn on and charge to no avail. I'd given up and went to my phone provider to see if I could upgrade or get a new one to no avail. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! The screen is unfortunately cracked e v e r y w h e r e but i'm so glad it turned back on.
I was normally cooking and it suddenly did that so i thought it was a temporary thing but my phone dropped off the counter but i didn't look on the screen, i thought it'd be fine cause it had worse drops but NOPE, now there are cracks all over the screen which made me more paranoid and so i used my laptop and went to bed (since my phone wasn't working) and when i woke up i got SUPER worried because the screen had been the same and it's been hours. Not only that but the cracks as well i had to unpack that all at the same time.
I'm glad that at the very least i have a functioning phone.

It was so strange, I woke up in the morning and noticed that my cell phone was glowing. However, when I turned my home lights on, it looked black. When I pressed the power button, the only thing that would appear is Turn Off and Restart but it looked like nothing happened. I would like to "thank you" because the first suggestion worked like a charm. My question is that you wrote, "Note you just have a black screen of death"; does this mean that when this happens, we should purchase a new phone? I know with a laptop, with a hard disk drive (HDD), it means ones hard drive is about to die - like a warning.

Forced restart seemed to do the trick. Thank you. By the way, is anyone else finding that this model is glitchy overall? I had to have this model replaced FIVE TIMES while still under basic warranty, four of those of those replacements were in less than a month because each new phone that was sent refused to work from the start so the dealer had to send it right back...and finally the fifth one was able to be activated, but when I got it home, I discovered someone else's saved passwords on my allegedly brand new phone.
