I just go the satin version using my military discount. It's still there and available. I also picked up a K390 Manbug and a few Super Blue Zome Spyderco exclusives. A coated and satin Delica and a satin Dragonfly. I think I have a knife problem. Luckily, they have the sweet discount. Thank you Spyderco!
Spyderco offering these at MSRP is an odd play. Got to be an aborted order from a distributor that Golden couldn't sell through normal dealer network. There's a lot of knives available and coming in the next week or so, Good times. Hope you and your family are well LH. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the show! : - ) I did watch this last night, but my hands were full at the time, and didn't comment then. You are right, and the first person that I know of. To bring up the (obvious to you and I) Sportsman's angle. That was absolutely my first thought as well, when I saw this coming ahead of time. Sportsman's must have cancelled this order, for some odd reason. So last night I called my stockbroker, and asked him to look into it. He got back to me this morning, and said the company was in 'ok' condition, and have just recently opened three more new store locations. Though they seem to be heading the wrong way in profits, when compared to say Dick's sporting goods. Also, early this year. Sportsman's Warehouse (NASDAQ:SPWH) was an acquisition target by Great Outdoors Group, owner of Bass Pro Shops chain. But the deal fell through, because the competition authority had concerns. While on this subject of odd or special news. The Knife Joker recently got in another batch of green/cruware/DLC Shamans. If Travis placed this additional order the day he sold you yours. How much time has gone by since then?
Would be interesting to find out what happened with these 2 Chiefs! It took awhile for the Colorado PM2 Sprint to sell, I'm assuming these will too at MSRP. I got the Knife Joker Shaman in February 2020 according to date on the video. My son just got transferred to Mammoth area from Ventura, So I may be visiting Travis in the near future! 😎 Thanks for watching Steve
Thank you so much for posting this video! I didn't know Spyderco had this for sale on their website and just bought this exact Chief. Used my LEO discount and price dropped to $145, but due to living in Hawaii, I had to pay the $15 shipping for a total of $160 which I didn't mind because a regular S30V Chief is $184 on all the major knife vendors. Knifejoker again has their exclusive Shaman available but didn't want 2 of the same knives. Hope your doing well and thanks for always sharing brother!
Glad I was able to help with the info, Still the main reason I put up videos! It's a good deal with the Opfocus Program, Thanks for your service and for watching. My parents retired to Maui in 2000 and I enjoyed visiting them with my family. If I ever had to choose leaving Encinitas (my hometown) Hawaii would be up there. Have a good weekend D N
I did the same thing. I have a Yojimbo 2 with Brown G-10, and a Black DLC coated S90V blade. The Satin finish version of this Native Chief looks nice too but this version is different enough to justify adding it to my collection. I love the Native Chief. It reminds me of a CQI rendition of the original Micarta Wayne Goddard and the Renegade. Linerless, a strong lockback, similar handle shape and ergonomics. 👍
I just received my Native Chief in DLC in the mail today and this knife is great, arrived perfect and no QC issues. I liked it so much I ended up buying a second DLC Chief. Now is the time to purchase knives, Benchmade has already increased the prices on their knives and I believe Spyderco will do the same shortly. Stay well brother and I look forward to more of your knife videos!
Crazy where the cost had gone for products the last couple years! Demand destruction is already hitting some good and services, Hopefully prices level out on the American made knives! Glad you got a second one, I'm probably going to buy the Satin version too. Enjoy those Chiefs and have a good weekend D N. I ended up ordering the Siren Sprint Run... couldn't help myself 😎
Awesome! I'm also thinking about picking up the older Siren in LC200N, the price has gone down alot which is more affordable. My wallet has moths flying out of it from all these knife purchases that I've made, lol. Take care brother!
I was just looking at these today on the opfocus site and was wondering how such an incredible knife and sprint run was still sitting there in stock. I’m going to pick up one of the satin ones. That’s a screaming deal at only $125 for a monster M390 blade and USA made Spydie.
I agree! I think with the release of Magnacut everybody wants the newest greatest steel, Even though they'd never be able to tell the difference. Hope you enjoy the Chief and thanks for watching
Spyderco has been dropping lots of cool stuff lately, that my wallet cannot keep up. I did purchase the much cheaper Cutlary Shop Native Chief and Para 2 with Warncliff blade. Also purchased the rerelease of Knife Joker Shamen with Cruwear blade. See Ya !
Can't believe it's been over 2 years since the Knife Joker Shaman initially came to market, Congrats on getting one. Definitely seems the "pause" in producing Exclusives has passed , If that was ever anything at all! I couldn't be happier a lot of these blades are in stock longer and accessible to more users. Thanks for watching
Someone posted on Spyderco forums that the 2 Native Chief sprints we're discontinued (to Opfocus pricing) $125.00 satin and $145 DLC for everyone....once you sign in at checkout. Not confirmed but a quick heads up! Cool if accurate. Thanks for watching
Someone who purchased through Opfocus (or paid retail) will be selling/trading soon enough Ian. Keeping an eye on the forum exchange you'll probably hit gold if your patient! Thanks for watching
Had a nice little break from medical procedures the last 6 weeks, Now back in the grind. The light weight, Blade length, And slim pocket carry make the Native Chief a top Spyderco. Thanks for watching, Hope you and your family are well
I’m hesitating on pulling the trigger on this one because of the price, I have a 30% off code I can use but it’s still pricey granted there are other great Spyderco knives still in stock at lower price points that I like as well.
Someone on the Spyderco forums stated that the discount is good for everyone and not just Opfocus now. You'd have to login to Spyderco and put in cart to find out. Should be $145 for DLC and $125 for Satin version. If you confirm this and purchase let me know so I can update on channel. Thanks for watching
@@knifevideochannel4657 oh cool I’ll try it out it thank you! No problem always support the Channel ! Ty for all your efforts in providing us with great video and information!
Something happened behind the scenes with these 2 Native Chief sprints! Spyderco ended up "eating" the order and they couldn't offer them through the normal dealer network! Listing them at MSRP is an odd play for sure, There's got to be a justified reason. Thanks for watching
Cool knife, but that price is a little nuts. My St. Nick’s Manix2 XL and Knife Joker Shaman seem like massive bargains, by comparison. Hell, I paid less for my S90V/CF Sprint YoJumbo than they want for this Chief with G-10 scales. Pass.
The consumer direct MSRP on these 2 Native Chief sprints is puzzling, I'm convinced they were exclusives ordered by Sportsman Supply distribution. For whatever reason the order fell through and Spyderco must have to sell at MSRP. The Yojumbo Sprint and KJ Shaman are great examples of those models. Thanks for watching
@@knifevideochannel4657 So, I ended up buying both the DLC and satin M390 Chief, (50% discount through OpFocus). The satin version is part of my EDC rotation now. Great knives, love the Chief. 👍
@@knifevideochannel4657 Yep, the ratios are great on the Chief; good length of blade for the handle, and under 4oz in weight. It’s fairly slim in the pocket too, as you mentioned. Mine came sharp af, (slices paper towels easily), and once I noticed how reliably I can reverse flick the Chief open, that, (along with its other strengths), elevated it into the small group of knives which I regularly carry, (most of mine are safe queens). Spyderco seems to do an excellent heat treatment for their M390, (~62 HRC), so this Sprint should be comparable to the S90V Sprint, when it comes to wear resistance. 👍
They weren't originally made a a Sprint Run, Pretty sure they were ordered by a distributor ( Exclusive for Sportsman's Supply Inc) and they pulled out for some reason. Thanks for watching Danny

Still never given a response to why these were sold Consumer Direct from Spyderco at full MSRP. Thanks for watching FL
