A small correction to a mistake I just realized I was saying while watching this again: The Korg Electribe 2 was not released in 2005, it was 2015.. Missed 10 years there 😅
Thanks for providing some context by explaining the background rather than just assuming everyone watching has nothing better to do than keep up with all the details of various kinds of gear or own the thing.
Great video! My experience is, that chain mode is good for fully pre-programmed tracks, that you don‘t want to change during play or for sequencing external gear, if you need longer patterns to then play with. 😊
You can also save during chain mode! Next time the mute change will be there and no extra save slots are required. If you dont’t want to overwrite original patterns, make copies to play around with so you can always start fresh from the same point.
Man you are on fire! 😊👍🏻 How do you have time to put out so many videos? 😛 Keep em coming! I love these tutorials even if I don’t have the Electribe. Maybe I buy one in the future. 😊
Hahaha thats a very good question 😅 its a long holiday here in Bangkok and with Covid going wild outside I rather stay home and make more of these lol but in general ive been in an almost 15 years break from making music man, but the fire inside me never died and i feel now as if the sleeper has awakened :) i just love doing this shit lol
@@RandomNoiseMusic You live in Bangkok? Cool! I live in Norway. We just had Easter holdiday last week. With work and family it is not always easy to find the time to making music, but I try my best to find the time. 😊
I've only had mine for a few days and some of the design decisions are an intriguing step 'diagonally -' which is OK as I learn. [also have had the EMX & ESX for a decade]. Some of the design decisions are downright wtf, though...like this one. It kept me away for a long time. Apart from it being just ONE lousy gimped 'song mode' memory at any current state, the other tough pill to swallow is why we can't simply chain them in the Pattern Set (like many other sequencers do already) in real time. I do love (some of) the sound and special angle this machine brings, though. It is this funny combo - really just Korg VST codes stuffed into a proprietary hardware but running a somewhat mysterious OS. Reminds me of the KARMA keyboard, being a succinct example of Korg working odd angles with rather mundane source material.
They should have implemented a way of using the >> button to live switch on the fly to a preset chain whenever you felt like it. Leaving your options open as well as being able to live tweak pads. Maybe it can be done with that Value pot, but that’s a little much to ask in a live jam situation. A button to advance patterns would be best.
Thanks for watching! 😊 I think it is, the only concern is that the chain must be saved with the pattern, so if you apply the chain and didn't save the pattern you will lose it in the next play
Hi thanks for this. I'm finding that there is a slight stutter between my chained patterns, even when I change the last note of the melody and bass patterns to "TIE" via step edit. Any thoughts on how to remove this, so chained patterns move smotthly from one to the next?
I'm afraid this is just how this machine is built.. Because everything is stored in a pattern and plus the synth engine envelope is monophonic, when switching patterns you get this 'cut' in between
Can u make song that consists of couple patterns just by hitting play without changing the chain while you are playing? On the video it shows that chain goes from A to B and if you want it to go further, tou have to change it. My question is can you chain pattern A to B to C to D etc., Hit play and basically have all song as a backing track while jamming on another gear or do you have to change it while playing?
Thank you for this video! I just bought the sampler version on Reverb. I was also wondering how you save your songs (pattern chains) to the SD for backup?
Thanks for watching, glad it was useful! 😊 you can do that from the data page in the main menu. Keep in mind that if you save 1 pattern it wont save the whole chain, so you need to make sure you are saving all the patterns that are chained together
Have you tried to chain a pattern with 3/4 time to a pattern with 4/4 time? Electribe always seem to add an extra beat to 3/4 to make 4/4 during chain playback.
Thank you! Appreciate it! 🙌 I do record the events here and there but I have not found a use for exporting it yet if that's what you mean. Am I missing something interesting? :)
Yes!! man, more than 20 years ago until today every time I hear this brilliant track it blows my mind! Happy someone recognized it! 😄 And thanks so much for watching! 🙌
i'm a lover of progressive 90 and all electronic music is a timeless genre ... i also bought an electribe and thanks to your videos i'm always learning new things😃, but i haven't been able to convert that to another audio format yet what a sound🤔 ... the rest is a bomb🤩bravo !! keep it up !! 👍🏼👍🏼💣
Thank you so much! Glad to know you find these videos helpful! And I would love to hear your music on the Electribe once you get a chance to record it! 🙌
Thank you for your kind answer and a great video, I just have one specific question. You played the song Odyssey of Noices with the sine synth in the Korg device. I have the same device but I can't get the sound of the song. If you can give me instructions so that I can get the same sound, that would be helpful and thanks in advance. I played with the chords from the song. But my sound sounds completely different. Please help. Because I want to play the song too.❤❤❤

Thank you! and agree. That is kind of what I tried to demonstrate in this video here with the 8 bars melody. Thanks for watching! 🙌

Yeah but it Glitch when saving
Fantastic once again✨👍✨ Please keep these coming. Much appreciated. ✨🙌🙌🙌✨

Funny thing is that i am actually waiting now for a new video to render lol will be uploading it soon.. 🤪

Agree, this chain mode thing is ok, but not ideal for either live performance or editing. I barely use it to be honest
Thanks for sharing! I wonder ,it is possible to set "chain to" when the pattern is playing? getting an ES2 soon

@@RandomNoiseMusic this stutter has now gone after the Hacktribe update to my pink E2 sampler. Very happy!
Congrats on excelent channel. A good ideea of a video could be a set of presets of clasical synth sounds on electribe.
Thank you! 🙏 And thanks for the suggested idea, will consider it for the future! 👍

Not really, most of my music is simple 4/4 to be honest, so never had a reason to try other time signature
Quality explanation! Have you tried Event Record?
Thank you! Appreciate it! 🙌 I do record the events here and there but I have not found a use for exporting it yet if that's what you mean. Am I missing something interesting? :)
I'm just looking in on that record events I'm not sure if you could record live pad mutes and stuff like that how do you use it ?
Odyssee of noises firedance💪🏼💣👍🏼

Can your save chains? Like multiple ones to be recalled during a set?
No as far as I know.. there is no proper song mode on the E2... 😔
@@RandomNoiseMusic I swear it's like looking for Holy Grail. I have a Roland MC-505, but I'm not trying to lug that around to shows
is there any machine that can do that? i am interested in buying one with that feature. thank you
Two e2 connected: no pattern change if pattern chained!😑
yeah man :D
🙌
