Canon sx30 is test video clips and stills with post processing

This file is the original file (previously uploaded without any processing) with slight post processing added ( minor sharpening, increase saturation + contrast ) Of course this can be added to the camera profile to produce a more satisfactory raw file without the need for further post process. edit with edius 5.22 and rendered as 720p 8Mbps file

@hearttobefelt The fuji has manual zoom only, you zoom with your hand and the zoom isnt a smooth motion, it ruins any video you use zoom for. This is the best all round camera Ive found in this price range if you want a super zoom. The sx1 is has less zoom but uses a cmos sensor, RAW and full HD video so pic and video quality is better but its more expensive. Most people will love the SX 30 and not have a problem with it unless you want to take pics in RAW to modify with photoshop

@careyeOhkey Pay attention, first full zoom out is at 00:29 followed by full zoom in at 01:00 followed by full zoom out at 01:13. The clips were intended to show the avchd compression, as well as the optical characteristics of the lens at wide angle ( for chromatic aberration) and at full tele. against the light, pin point light sources etc, not jst to demonstrate the power of the zoom!

@careyeOhkey Well what can i say, if you look, for example at the pull back at around 1:30 on the rabbit sculptures they were infact over 50 metres away across the canal basin and the flag on the boat was over 70 metres away. The camera IS the sx30 so I will forgive your mis-guided comment and as the zoom facility is a means to allow you to choose a specific focal length to establish a video scene field of view it is not a tool to hosepipe the viewer with power zooms - or at least not by pro's.

@rkorczeniewski This is an inherent problem with ccd imagers like this one I believe. it cannot be eliminated in post edit (without a lot of work in after effects) It plays havoc with sunlight reflecting on rippled water and car headlights at night etc. Still no rolling shutter effect with panning as in cmos so its a compromise on what you want the camera for.

one thing that is impressive is that you can use the zoom during the video recordings, and the quality never vanishes like in the other cameras...

You say you test AVCHD, but the output file format of the SX30 is.... H264 !!!

If this is the FULL ZOOM capibility, you don't have a Canon SX30is ..LOL! HA!
The zoom on an SX30is, is at least 10X greater than what you're showing. So my best guess for your camera is; Canon SX20is. =)

NOT impressed. You waited to 3:19 to test the zoom. Moreover, I don't think you fully reached the full zoom capabilities at that point. You may have done more with the zoom later in the video, but I'm not willing to wait 11 minutes to find out. Test the zoom, and post the video. Thanks. =)
