'Diet Coke: Girl On Pier ' (1988) / 'Diet Coke: Feel' (1987) (first two) - great ads and jingles. 'Tango: Whole Fruit' (1986). Those Milk commercials were *always* good. 'Apple Tango: Caught Out' (1986/7) directed by Trevor Robinson.
I hated the Pepsi adverts. Were they trying to suggest Pepsi was for sad geeks who couldn't pick up girls? The Diet Coke ones were very 80s. The original Tango adverts were slightly edgy but then they rebranded with those stupid adverts. Never heard of Fresca and am not sure what a "frosty" taste is. Kiri was ok but Appletise was just as good. I hated "C-Vit."
There’s something very unfortunate at the end of that 1950s Rock n Roll style ad - don’t know if it’s a bad seating position or the tight shirt, but I feel convinced if it was lifted it would reveal Kuato from Total Recall… 😮😂
I never could stand that style of Coke ad (the last one, though the Diet Coke ads were always naff too) - I always much preferred that Irn-Bru ad that completely skewered that kind of approach. Wonder if the girl ever did come back to Earth?
I remember some old adverts. There used to be adverts for "One Cal" featuring a woman singing a song whilst reclining on an airbed, then there was "Just Juice," with one advert that featured a traffic policewoman directing traffic in a polluted city. She got home and gulped a load of orange juice along to the on-screen slogan: "No junk, no gunk, just juice." I remember another one that went "Stute is FRUITY! Whole lotta fruit in Stuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute! The voice was very raucous. Actually that might even have been for a jam. I'm not sure.
Excellent, I used to love the Pepsi and Diet Coke adverts, catchy jingles and great looking people, it's funny though whenever I drank a diet coke, it was never like in the adverts! 😂

I still remember tango 🍊. Here's an anecdote about the cola wars. Pepsi sponsored Michael Jackson's World tour in the late 80s and whilst practicing in Thailand, he collapsed due to dehydration. The next day, Coke came out with this ad: Dehydrated? Try Coke.
That brilliant! 😆 I also have a personal anecdote. I did the Pepsi challenge in a shopping centre back in the 80s. Adamant that I preferred Pepsi, I picked my favourite. They removed the cover and it was Coke!! 😱
@@RetroSteveUK I was quite the opposite. The guy told me to just take it. I said I hated Pepsi. He insisted. I said "that's Pepsi, that's Coke" he asked which I preferred. I was so bloody pleased after all that when it was Coke I picked. I gave away my voucher as I just hated the slight soapy taste.

The first ad shows one of the biggest differences between the US and UK TV. You almost never see a regular looking person on American TV unless it's that kind of embarrassing situation. That Vimto commercial and the two for Apple Tango are creepy. I always get a kick out of your videos. :)
My mom only bought sugar-free pop. At the time, the only sugar-free ones in Canada were Diet Pepsi, Wink (a citrus blend), Tab, and Fresca. Tab and Fresca tasted terrible. It was a great day when Diet Orange Crush came out. And an even greater day when Diet Cream Soda came out.
