    I use tank top bras, no fiddly things to figure out. When I was younger, I would put the bra around me, hook it in front and then turn it to the back.
    There's a feature on iPad called VoiceOver that helps with blindness.
    It's a huge bonus when we get the right combination of meds to work like they are supposed to.
    I haven't got to go to get my hair done since February 2020 because of Covid. I used to have hair so short, my sister said I looked like her husband from the back. Now I have grown 11 inches of hair. I'm still new to it. At night, I sleep with a pony tail on the top of my head to keep track of it all. It seems to help. I also tried a hair net, like when you make food at work, but I move around too much for it to stay on.

    Not that you need me to agree, but I agree with keeping those sensitive talks in a more private setting. I have spina bifida & I can remember my mom just opening up to who ever where ever about how I use the restroom or other parts of my care. It made me feel embarrassed.

    Another very positive communication Q & A.
    My Nicholas has continued to surprise me in his life. He is so intelligent and comes up with very surprising ideas. I am pretty sure that who ever 1st chiseled the 1st rock into a round wheel was laughted at by the people around them. My Nick gets laughted at by some people, but his ideas are brilliant. I absolutely love it when he tells me that he loves me,...or reminds me of something that I cooked when he was little. ( and I didn't know how he felt about most things because communication wasn't the best) Hang on for the ride,Momma. Jessica is doing so well,no doubt, because of the love and support of her family. I sincerely believe that🥰😘

    I remember being so proud of myself when it came in learning how to wash my own hair, I’m the total opposite of Jessica when it comes to water, it is a huge sensory issue for me. I also have textile issues with my feet and hands. My mom would wash my hair over the bath up until I was about 15/16 so learning how to take a proper shower by myself was a huge accomplishment for me.

  • @rzdrms
    @rzdrms 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    One question I had was if you’ve all tried having Jessica take baths instead of showers to make her more independent. Maybe allowing X minutes for playing in the bath and then Y minutes for bathing and hair washing. Maybe a tactile ring attached in the tub “showing” her the line to fill it to. Showers are sometimes boring and tiring.

    • @Shaping_Serenity
      @Shaping_Serenity  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jess has never been interested in taking a bath over a shower. She absolutely loves showers because she loves feeling and hearing the running water.

    I’m also curious whether or not Jessica has an aversion to loud noises. I definitely do. I can open a can of Diet Coke properly; my husband, however, cracks it open in such a way as to shatter windows a mile away. He also sneezes so loudly and out of nowhere that I jump through the roof.

    • @Shaping_Serenity

    Why do people think it's okay to ask about Jess and her menstrual cycle? It seems extremely intrusive of someone, and borderline offensive, that viewers think it's okay to ask this about Jess when I bet they wouldn't dream of asking about someone else's menstrual cycle or be happy if someone asked them such a personal question.

    • @Shaping_Serenity

    Such a great informational video thank you. So I’m thinking about her tactile issues and touching certain food. Have you ever tried putting gloves on her like the blue/clear snug fitting latex ones at a doctors office? Or do you think she wouldn’t like the feel of those gloves on her hands? I know she likes to wash her hands as soon as she touches something she doesn’t like and so I didn’t know if you ever tried that? Not the loose fitting clear plastic gloves like they use in a cafeteria service line. I actually buy a box of those from Amazon to keep in my kitchen to use them when I handle ground meat and chicken. I don’t like touching that either😬🤣🤗
