Organizing My Rare & Retired LEGO Star Wars Collection

- These are sets we picked up from storage about a year ago, and until now they were just sitting away in a dusty closet.
After renovating the LEGO City room last week, we decided to finally put everything LEGO related under the LEGO City since we can hide it away with the black curtain. This way, we can free up some of the closets in our house and also have everything in one place.
I forgot how many LEGO Star Wars and other retired, rare sets my husband has from his childhood because it's been about a year since I really saw all of them. I'm absolutely shocked that we have THIS many in mostly good condition!

Which of these retired sets do you have or did you have as a kid?
I don’t remember but it was like 2 shore trooopers and 1 lady with black armor and a man with a blaster

I had only 2 Beihonicle I think they were called and used to play withmy cousin with his bin of random legos ahaha. My husband was the real lego fan, he had a few of the cowboys sets, lots of the 80s Castle theme, I think he had the balck knigts set and lion king castle , 80/90 pirates. Lots of precious one but unfortunately he didnt conser them q.q

An idea...if you're planning on getting rid of the boxes, cut them up, put them in picture frames and hang them as wall art.
17:03 this is the wave that made my childhood. I had the at-st, the y-wing (which I still have), the imperial shuttle, and both battle packs which I bought a few of. Pure nostalgia
The Star Wars section with Ross talking about the sets and history is super interesting. Would be great to see more vids on Star Wars and his review on them etc
Wow - Ross's kid collection is way more epic than my kid collection was! Fantastic vid - great sets - he's going to have a blast rebuilding them.
Haha I never asked for anything else for Christmas and Birthdays and mowed lawns for the summer just to buy these things... It was worth it then, and it is worth it now!

Ross is so right! I was five when the clone wars movie came out and six when the show came out. At the time, I was unaware of the existence of lego Star Wars, so I invested all of my allowance money into action figures and 3.75” scale vehicles. I have a ton of nostalgia, but if I could go back, I would tell myself to buy clone wars sets instead. I didn’t start until I was around middle school age, and by that points there were far fewer clone wars sets. I used to spend $5 per week on one clone trooper. I did that for several weeks, but in two weeks I could’ve had a clone walker battle pack. If I could go back… I wouldn’t be at the mercy of lego designers today, because I’d already have all the clones wars builds I’ve been waiting on.
There is a bright side, however! I’ve learned to get very creative. I built my own gunships, my own tiny but playable turbo tank, and I learned how to 3D print super battle droids! I can print them in any color I choose, and they work perfect with lego!!
The Gunship and the Sail Barge are so cool. I remember so well when i got the Sail Barge when i was a child at christmas it was so sick

We went to the one in Florida right before the world closed and it was a blast! We went on a Tuesday so nobody was there, then we got to ride every roller coaster for as long as we wanted!

You should make a video cataloguing Marvel and DC minifigures
1. Finally! Someone who realizes that you should NOT throw out all the boxes. I’ve saved all my boxes and I’ve been buying LEGO since the early 1970s. Flattening them is fine and tossing some is fine, but keep the boxes for anything that has a future value.
2. I also made the move to bags in storage containers at some point in the past-I found it very helpful to number the containers and create a spreadsheet listing all sets by container (and a system to store flattened boxes and instructions, and extra sticker sets by set number).
3. I love the idea of a stream cataloging Ross’s minifigure bag.

Hey Emma, how do you store your instruction books? Right now I have them sorted by theme and in hanging folders individually in plastic totes but it is getting a bit much-(5 totes full). Any suggestions on efficient storage solutions for instruction books? Should mention, 99% of them are from sets that have larger books in regards to number of pages.

Just letting you guys know: LEGOLAND New York operates seasonally so technically you’re going on a media preview for their 2nd operating season
I started to save my boxes and then, at some point, I realized that I could not sustain the ever-growing number of boxes. All the boxes ended up in the recycle bin. I don't see myself selling my sets in future--so the boxes are not valuable for me. The sets that I don't have on display are assembled and stored for the most part intact in covered plastic bins.
A lot of my original Lego sets were the mid 90's technic sets.

Drop ships rules. It's crazy to think that Lego is almost completely ignoring the Prequels/Clone Wars, and instead redoing OT stuff over and over and over. If they ever redid the dropship (which they never will) it would sell like hotcakes
