You made the correct call not going into that water. A controlled/coordinated fall into the water would be ideal but probably unlikely. Then you hit the water, your body starts to freak out because of the cold, then the waves throw you into the rocks. Very smart idea not attempting it. Much respect knowing your limits, great video :)!
and we should emphazise, that no-one is a pussy for stopping and not risking his life. Even if the water is warm, big waves can easily crush you against the rock, or the back-draft currents can suck you down into the water where you loose orientation and die in a matter of seconds (almost)
Hey! I’m from a big family of rock climbers. My dad was one too and he died deep water soloing when I was 2 months old. He was reckless and did it when the waves were too intense. My mom watched it happen and she suffered with that memory for years raising me and my sister alone as a single mother. I just felt like sharing my connection with it. I also climb and I am very fond of it. Still, when I see the ocean below me I think of him and so does our family who misses my father dearly. Be careful and always think of what’s at stake. His name was Damian Cook. There are articles out there about them as well as some books, videos, and documentaries including him. I one day hope to be as good as he was.
At 13:36 you can see the climb name I love Eszter in Magnus’ Book. That name is my mother’s and the setter is my father!!! It’s number 5 and number 9 was also set by my Dad! I did not expect to see his name in this video!

It’s sweet that you got excited by seeing it. You are also honouring your dad by pointing it out. I hope you and your mother are enjoying life in the best way you can. It looks like a beautiful spot - when the camera panned out and you could see the beach and the cove I could just imagine myself spending a day there with my friends and family dipping in and out of the water.
@@the_all_watching Cool! always fun to find hungarian people in the world. Being we are a pretty small country in the middle of europe, its rare to just stuble upon a fellow hungarian. I'm really glad you held the first footage and released it all together. Getting to see the whole process of you checking the spot out, realising conditions weren't right, and making the call to not go for it is a really nice thing to see. But it's then nice to be able to see you come back when conditions were good.
Yeah no kidding. Those waves from the March vid were no joke. Fall in and get caught the wrong way that's a cracked skull waiting to happen when you try to get out.
As a lifeguard 100% the right call not to risk it at 11:00. The Cold, the waves, the rocks, no one waiting in the water - to many things that could go wrong and when they do it’s serious.
I am no climber, but I have spent almost my entire life in, on and around the ocean. Respect the Waves! The combination of large rocks and waves crashing on them is a death sentence for those that are not used to it, and a terrible battering for those that are. Good decision calling that climb off, ending up down there in that grinder would not have ended well.
Good lad for not making the attempt when you doubted the safety of the situation. Takes a strong mindset to listen to your gut and take a step back even though the pressure is on.
Magnus, the fact that you've done things like grapple with US Marines, gone free soloing with Alex Honnold, ran a marathon in Death Valley amongst countless other things, you sir could never be a pussy. Let's go DWS in the UK in March, said noone ever!
this was absolutely incredible to watch, it’s so cool to see your passion for climbing
The day I'll watch a Magnus video and I'll leave disappointed is the day I'll stop watching TH-cam.
Great vid Magnus, started climbing recently because of you. Much love from Italy!
Gotta say, love watching you climb. You're such an inspiration. If I remember correctly, you're only like 10 or so years older, but it will be such a triumph if I ever obtain even half the level of fitness and bravery you maintain.
You deserve more views.
Magnus, your content have a great depth for watching. No clickbait pure quality contents...
I long for climbing like this but as a Florida climber, my only options nearby are indoors. 😅
Dude I loved this and huge respect for making the video the way you did it really shows people that dangerous conditions are serious and that they happen to everyone. And it’s important you put it in because if you had just edited it out and said no more people would not have learned the lesson of when to stop.
My favorite part was you skipping that site when it didn't seem safe. Seriously, it's important to show those kind of choices.
Thank you so much for teaching safety when doing sports like that! Backing off was the best decision you could make. It's easy to forget about safety when adrenalin is high and the thrill is on. It's important to remember that there are people waiting for you after the climb.
Sidemen x Magnus Collab would be game changing👀👀👀
Dunno how they’d do it tho. Just a Sidemen Sunday of them doing rock climbing isn’t that amazing tbh. I think maybe just a moresidemen video of a few of them (Harry and Tobi would be best) at a gym would be a bit of fun
Even as a non-climber I love the strictly climbing videos the best. Magnus is such an artist and joy to watch climb.
Not free soloing?
Scariest of the forms of climbing that us mortals will ever try
Magnus will get demonetized if he says that word.
Nah cause deep water soloing gives you hope
well yes but you cant talk about it cause youtube gets mad and punishes you
You can only fall once free soloing
Magus Midtbo is HIM!!
Don't know what that means, but thanks!
It’s means your the best 😊
This is my new favorite Magnus video over the older deep water solo video, thanks for making this magnus.
Incredibly edited video! The cinematography and music are on point!
This was one of my favourite videos you’ve done! Brilliant!
Incredible video Magnus!!!!! Amazing cinematography, soundtrack and just what a climb!
Its always great to see that Magnus uploaded again! Also the last couple of videos are sick!! Grüße aus Deutschland Magnus (Germany)!
Much respect to you choosing to do the climb later and looking after yourself. A great role model.
Such a great video. Fun, inspiring and joyful. Great to see the good safety calls spoken out and shown
