This game storyline could have been a show or a movie cause the cinematic was so good and the story to go with it DC should make this huge budget show now

This truly is an amazing game. Great story, Combat, customization and pvp. Despite being a decade old it's a game well worth trying even if you aren't a DC fan
pvp gear is a pain in the ass but well it still good XD
It really is the only problem today overall because all the problems people have now fall into this one section she the game is old as FUCK for an MMORPG the engine needs a complete overhaul not to mention the graphic and design difference in the newer dlc are really jarring it’s almost like you turned on a completely different game from the base game I’d love to see a dcuo 2 but the developers said they are making a marvel version of dcuo basically so we won’t see dcuo 2 (which they have expressed interest in making) until after that marvel MMORPG my personal biggest issue? All the empty space

Yeah I took about over a year break from this game when legion of heros dlc was released. Sucks having to go back and take care of all the missed content, but it was a much needed break. It's good to be back though
the game devs at dcuo betrayed the players gave pvp a big middle finger and never looked back.
@@counterprogressive5800 they could never get it right. Paper, rock, scissors was the closest to balanced pvp ever got. I was playing healer back in the day and pvp was a horrible experience.
DC is pretty much keeping the lights on at Daybreak. It's their most profitable IP by a longshot.

I played this for years, I remember the beta. Had me gassed. Unfortunately this game got old very quickly and it hasn’t progressed much. It had so much potential though.
It would be cool if they made a new MMO with Superheroes (doesn’t have to be DC or Marvel)

There were talks of the same company making a Marvel mmo, but it was cancelled unfortunately.

Good lord so many memories of playing this one back when it was released on PS3. It was the first time I ever jumped into an MMO and it was awesome! I believe my characters migrated over to PS4 when that version came out and I checked out the Switch version myself. This video makes me want to go back to check out how my babe, Miranda Snow is doing. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

I believe the longest break I had taken from DCUO had been a six month period. The community and the game are what you put into it. Some good and some bad. A fair few of the friends I met in 2011 are still people I am friends with today and play other games along with them.
While this game does miss the aspects of adventuring, hidden quests, and things that make it similar to larger scale MMOs. It still has its fair share of Easter Eggs, lore, and new comic minutia to keep you coming back.

I've been playing and been a paying member since 2012. Started on PS3 and now on PC. Most definitely my favorite game by far. I see a lot people talking down on the game in chats in the game, saying it's dead, but people have been saying that since 2014 yet here we are. Great video, Thanks!

I actually started the game this year and you talking about the game showed me I'm not playing the game like an MMO. I don't play raids or play or use roles with others. I'm in a league but I really just joined cause I got invited. Playing with friends and others is something I love in games and it is the reason I have been playing the game more often. This video showed me the game has a lot more to offer. ( I feel like making new character now :0 ).

I mostly played City of Heroes back in the day, but I remember giving this game a shot. Both were fun, but I just preferred the gameplay of COH. A cool thing I remember was making the same character in COH, DC Universe, and Champions Online. Good times.
I'm not even that into MMOs and the whole time I was screaming "OPEN TEXT CHAT AND TALK TO SOMEONE!"

I am one of the returnees. Stopped playing in 2015 w/ CR79 and got back Sept of last year and I’ve been playing almost daily. Same as you, returning with the same main toon got confusing but I stayed on it. I just switched power, role, and a lot of research on how things work this time mostly from YT content creators. Here I am still enjoying the game.
Now that's a comeback.
This game holds great nostalgic value for me. I remember being 6 years old loving fighting bane and scarecrow and all my favorite dc villains

It's actually quite easy to level up after you get to Level 30 and go through the various DLCs in order to follow the continuing story of DCUO! I hope you get to do it cause its a blast and a cool story!

I know that feeling of not knowing what to do and end up quitting. If you want to learn what to do just ask the chat box or ask someone for assistant I'm willing to bet they will be happy to help hell that's how i manage to keep up with this game.
My advice start by going to on duty once you hit level 30 go to the on duty tab and queue up for one of the scenarios for either 1 player to 4 player.

Just watched you DC vid and it was cool I too am a long time DC Online player. I've been away from the game for years also. I even had my daughters help me create a few heroes. You inspired me to get my PS4 and look at the game. You also have me considering buying a month membership and diving back in. If you did videos of DC RAIDs, I think I'd be down for suiting up and joining the team. Let me know.

I had a similar trajectory on this game to you. I remember when it was announced and I was hyped for it. Then I found out that it was an always online MMO and I wouldn't be able to play it because I lived at home with my dad, we didn't have the internet back then and he paid all the bills, and there was NO WAY he was paying extra per month just so I could sit at home and play computer games online lol.
So I didn't start playing it till it I had my own place with internet, and the game had been out for a couple of years at that point. For the first couple of years, I played it like you. Like a single player game. I'd play the story missions, get to level 30, use what little currency I had to buy some stronger gear to bump me up to level 42-ish, and think I was a total badass (until I also got one-shotted by Bizarro). I never did raids or anything like that and I honestly didn't really have a clue what I was doing, but it was still fun creating new characters, flying around beating up goons!
Then I decided to try and take it a bit more seriously. I bought a 1-month subscription, started up a new 'Supergirl' themed character and I basically told myself - "either I learn how to play this game 'properly' within this month, or this game probably isn't for me".
7 years later I'm still subscribed.
It got under my skin and it became a part of my life. That Supergirl character (my main character...out of 20...), is currently level 376 and powerful as all hell. I've grown more attached to her than any other character in any other game I've played, ever, because she's *my* Supergirl. Not the Supergirl from Injustice 2 or any other games, she's mine, and I never get bored of playing as her.
I truly do love the game. It may have dated graphics, and it can get a bit dull when you're at the level I'm at, but there's still a lot to love about the game.
For veterans like me it can get a bit stale from time to time, but if you're new to it, there's SO MUCH content to explore, endless customisation to experiment with, and they keep adding more and more stuff!

i was a day one player, and this video makes me want to play again. probably not gonna dive into it like before but i def wanna play it again. i also was a solo player who didnt do any of the end game stuff, wanted to just to get the armor sets youd get from it but just couldnt get with the extra stuff required to run the raids.

I did the same thing! I started playing back when it first came out on the PS3 ( on a disc, not download ). At that time the constant updates, that felt like it took forever, was painful, so I stopped playing. I went back and forth for awhile but didn't get back into until recently. All the new stuff blew me away and got me excited in the game again. In fact I decided to buy a member ship and start all over. Have not stopped playing since.

I remember buying this game day one from best buy (yes you originally had to pay for the game). The guy didn't even know it was out yet until I pointed out that the collectors edition was on the shelf but I wanted the standard edition. You get outta the game what you put in honestly sometimes it's fun sometimes it's tedious but if you even remotely like DC give it a shot

Such an amazing channel
I loved this game when it first came out. It was my first MMO. My friends and I all got the collector's edition for PS3 and played it. But once our free trial period ended and we had to cough up money for a monthly subscription, everyone bailed on the game and so did I. Even when it went free to play, I couldn't get anyone back on :( I still pop in every once in a while on Xbox Series X and PC.
Oh man, that's a heartbreaker. At least you guys have those OG memories, though.

I’ve been playing this game since beta 2011. I took a break in 2015 which it was only supposed to be for the summer that turned into 5 years!! I came back in 2020 and I was totally lost! But I was amazed the game was still going strong so I continued with my old character and got him up to the highest combat rating. I recently quit the game again 3 weeks ago. I said only for the summer (again) but that’s also what I said in 2015. If this break turns into another 5 years I hope DCUO is still going strong. This is truly the only MMO I ever been loyal too 🙏🏽

I got into this game only earlier this year and immediately fell in love with it.
Really my only complaint is that you can't just buy base decorations from a vender in either a safe house, The Watchtower, or House Of Legends.
Am in the same boat as you brotha, I hear multi-player and am out lol never was a fan of WoW either and is not cause these games are bad? Its just that am not good at them and prefer single player experiences. However, I did try this game like 2 years ago and was too overwhelmed at the time to even give it a proper go so maybe I'll check it out again now? I mean, why wouldn't I want to have super powers and fight all the awesome enemies DC Comics have to offer? Who knows, maybe we'll run into each other and take down some bad boys in an epic fight to save the world!? Loved this retrospective man! Much love brotha!

Dude exactly, it's a hell of a thing to be working with these iconic characters. And against them!
When I played WoW in '09 I played with friends so I was focused on getting to max level and playing "the right way" so I could participate, and I hated just about every second of it. I wanted to explore the worlds with my druid at my own pace but the multiplayer pressure soured it for me.
Played again earlier this year with the intent of forcing myself to play without any of those external pressures, and had an absolute blast. Coming into it as a writer made me think, what if the characters I put in the world were able to interact with each other, or somehow aware they had this shared experience of being played by me? That level of immersion is unbeatable despite not involving another player at all!
Tell me to download this game and I'll play with you DanDan

I didn’t even know about the game until a friend posted a screen shot of it on Facebook like March 2011. As a comic fan since 5 years old I downloaded immediately. My first MMO and I was hooked, to the world and customization and fun this game was full of. Still play till this day.

I still play this game since ‘11. I went from a kid playing a fun game and being a “noob” to a high lv super hero. Went from dmg to heals. With over 30 million heals bein put out in one mission. I believe I’m lv 317…. I created the most crazy and cool story for first ever lv 30 character. And she’s been my character since 2012
Don’t worry I was the same for years just replaying the story over and over again until I took the time to learn what to do after there is so much more to learn and do and collect just take the time to learn
My internet was slow so I never got to really experience it 😂

I played DCUO for almost 10 years with only a few breaks. I stopped playing over a year ago and although this video brings back good memories, I'm still not in the mood to return to it. I mean 10 years! It's a very long time playing one game. Plus I know I would have to re-learn everything again because I know the game has changed a lot (again) during the last 2 years.
Oh and btw, this video (which is great) basically only covers the tutorial part really. Leveling up to level 30 is just to show you the basics of the game. After that the real game begins, with all the 43 episodes, where you need to always get better equipment to raise your CR and perform an infinite amout (not infinite of course but lots) of Feats to earn Skill Points. This is where the heart of the game is.
And you can do everything on your own, you have to play with others (2, 4 or 8 people) to progress your chracter in this game. I mean it's possible to play solo but you will miss half the content.
I’m not a big MMO guy at all. But after this I’m kind of interested in this. With it being free and DC comics related I’m gonna at least give it a shot. Once again you knocked it out of the park. You never seem to disappoint

I played DC online back in 2011. I didn't know about MMO, so my friends had to teach me about endgame (raids, armor leveling, combat ratings, true grinding). I have came and went throughout the years but I have been thinking about getting back on recently

i have a Yellow Lantern named CMDrunk, soooo....
i played for years, splitting my time between a Y.L. Control (my chain combos got SICK), and an ice tank.
the thing about MMOs is understanding the role your class plays in a group. DCUO was pretty simple with a 4 person group:
1. tank: keeps enemies focused on them, speced to absorb damage and taunt enemies to them
2. control: keeps enemies stunned/feared/rooted/etc, particularly added minions during boss fights
3. DPS: pure damage output on focused enemies, such as burning down adds
4. healer: self-explanatory. (if the group fails, it is always the healers fault, no matter how many times they tell you not to stand in the acid pool)
never got into raiding too much, just because trying to keep 40 gamers on the same page takes far more patience than i have.
also, you forgot to mention the fun that is Legends Battles. PvP, but you pick from a roster of Heroes and Villains. the #1 reason to get a subscription is that you get 1 free Legends character per month to unlock, and it is fun as hell to wreck a bad Superman player as Zod

I remember there watching another scene after the intro. I remember Batman survived but was horribly scarred. He was working on something with Luthor and expectedly is betrayed by Luthor who travels back in time.

I remember when I played this game, I loved it. I had a dud who had the galaxy skin and I mad him fly and have cosmic powers. It was honestly so fun making characters.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who jumped in and played solo based solely on the fact I can live and breath the DC Universe. WoW was fun for like 2 months to me but this? First game I got on my ps3 in 2012 and I didn't buy a new game after that until at least 6 months later. This game is SO good.
For the longest time it was a good enough game with all the content worth playing locked behind a pay wall but now its a pretty good time seeing as the episodes are free

This was my game in college. Played it every day on my PS3. I had to update the game overnight because the Internet at my apartment complex was so terrible.
My first character was a magical, gunslinging healer. Healing felt good, and because of that, I was good at it. I didn't think I would enjoy playing the Healer role before playing DCUO.
I hope I have time in the not so distant future to get back into this game, this time in a PS4.
I did hear there was some backlash from the community against the devs, but now I'm hearing good things about the game, so maybe most of it was smoothed out and improved.

if the Player vs Player aspect was taken more care of. this game would have been GOLD
I haven't heard any complaints about PvP. What's your issue with it?

have fun in the gear grind post 30. story lines in ep are alright but its a griiiind

I'm still a huge fan of this game and walked away from it two or three times... but it's just too good to stay away. Many of the newer episodes are based on more current comics stories, several heroes get reskinned to keep their looks mostly up to date, they've added several new power sets, and it blows my mind it's still going. In the early days some friends of mine agreed to go in and create a team before you're able to officially in the game. We were based on groups like the Green Lantern Corps but all had a very basic red/white/gold costume and we used the fire powers. We were the Sunturions and for a few months back around 2012 it was one of the most fun times I've EVER had in a video game. It's worth getting the membership, then you get all the new powers, more character slots, etc.

I would download this an play with you my dude. Like you, I tried WoW and it just didn't hook me. I even tried City of Heroes/Villains and they just didn't resonate with me. I'm a total DC mark and have always wanted to get into this game. I guess I just didn't want to be let down like I was with world of warcraft and city of heroes. Great video as always and thank you for sparking my interest, I'm gonna give us a download
