  • NOTE: This part might not work for some 2018 models so I'd recommended checking your original switch the make sure it matches the one shown in the video.
If you would like to pick up one of these switches here is a link to the part you need:
    www.ebay.co.uk...
This is a quick and cheap upgrade for any vw up! (Not just the GTI) I'm prone to accidently leaving my headlights on during the day so having this installed is a big help for me and I'm sure it will benefit other vw up! owners out there.
If you found this helpful please like and subscribe as this motivates me to make more videos.
Lets get to 300 subs in April!!!

Useful trick for the future, just push in the light knob and turn to the sidelights position then the whole thing just slides out 👍

This works for both stock and OEM switches, I've got the same on my Leon.

But be carefull with the light switch. The older UPs have a different switch as is shown in the video. Befor you buy a switch, look after the plug in your UP.

Just fitted mine just wondering does headlight symbol come up on display when there turned on as mine doesn't but the lights are one and clocks light is on 🤔

Ordered from the link, went to fit it today but its not compatible with my 2018 model. Looking into it now it appears theres a change in switch part way through 2018 although mine does look like the one on the left hand side on the video picture which is a bit misleading. Anyway all I can say is best removing the whole thing first to check first if your going to do this. Anything 2017 or older the part WONT fit, anything 2019 onwards will probably fit, anything in between is guess work and will definatety need checking first.

Apologise if my video was misleading. This was never my intention and have made changes to the video title and description so I hope this never happens to anyone else.

@@RicsCars thanks for the reply, it is a decent video that's better than I've done & with good intent on genuine enthusiasm to improve your car and I applaud that.
I was a bit miffed I can't deny that, however you can't be blamed for any exclusions as specifics of car components change all the time.
It was up to me to check specifics before attempting this and was lashing out with my comment in frustration. Anyway no harm done.
Have a good day fella and be assured there's no bad feelings, I apologise to you also if I caused any bad feelings ✌️

Flick from auto to headlights then back to auto(with key in ignition) and that enables leaving home feature. Then flick from auto to 0 back to auto to enable tunnel mode. Do this in almost one motion (not too slow).
Now take key out of ignition and flick from auto to 0 and back to auto (x2) (but fairly fast) to set the duration of the coming/leaving home feature (it should have flashed twice). Then switch to 0 and a timer would have started in the ECU of the light module. You can choose the duration of how long you want the lights to be on during welcome/leaving feature up to 60 seconds. Then after the time you chose (I waited 30s) switch to auto and it should work.
This worked for my car. Also bought my module on eBay so maybe it’ll work for yours. Hope this helps 🌟

I thought the car had some sort of lightsensor actually. Since if you only have parking lights on, and are in sun, the speedometer etc is lit up, but when it gets dark the speedometer gets dark if you dont turn on the headlights.

With the original switch, push the dial inwards and twist clockwise, then pull the switch out. That's the easiest way of doing it.
