    Brill, this is just what I was looking for, ran over my cable - my excuse is the grass was so long after nearly 5 weeks of rain. I was thinking of getting a new cable but this is just what I need. Excellent presentation

    What annoys me is the way flymo cables break internally with no external signs of where the break is. I'm really careful not to cut through it while cutting, but I've got such a big lawn and it gets a fair bit of stress. I'm finding they break inside after two or three years just through normal use, normally it is near the point where the cable enters the mower, but it can be anywhere.

    Hello Mate, thank you for this. I bought the connector from the link you left. Although it was slightly different, the logic was the same. I connected the cables through it and when I plugged in, the fuses went off and I think I burned the socket. What do you think I did wrong? :)
    Edit: I connected the wires wrong.:) I am leaving this for everyone else who did the same. Thank you for the video and the link to the product mate. Worked like a charm.

    thank you for this tutorial, seems simple and like others have had it work, however mine still isn't working, not sure if i need more wire to fit into the connector or if there could be something else thats wrong with it. I stupidly left mine out over night and the foxes ate through the cable

      There's very little nutritional value in electric wire. Somebody should tell the foxes.

    Maybe a silly question but do the wires need to actually touch inside the connectors before they are screwed down? Should I make sure they are overlapping? Thanks

    • @spendtimesavemoneydiy
      @spendtimesavemoneydiy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No the connector will connect the wires without them touching 👍🏼
      No such thing as a silly question, you don't know until you know and asking is the quickest way to find out.

    • @OrlaFitzpatrick-qx9tk

      The connectors I ordered were rubbish. No screws for securing good. Got a decent one from a local hardware shop and had the job done in minutes as I’d already prepped the wires. You get what you pay for. Thanks for your help. I didn’t really understand the connecter theory until I opened it!

    Nice fix.
    Happened to me, mowed over the strimmer cable, but used a two pin orange connector, smaller than those ones, and same colour as the cable, with the advantage of being able to disconnect, and roll up the cable separate to the strimmer.

      I’m not sure quite how to fix my electrical mower. I was mowing the yard when all of a sudden the mower stopped and wouldn’t turn back on. When I checked I noticed the wire got caught or trapped in between the handle, closer down to the mower. Basically it wasn’t ran over like most people actually do. The main cord or cover was exposed and I could see different color wires in it. A red one, green, white and black. All wires are fine except the black one. It’s barely sliced and I can see the copper wires exposed. I’d hate to cut all of those colored wires to connect to a cable connector just for one black cord barely sliced. Any suggestions? Hope my description makes sense 😔
