I dont see why everyone is complaining about this song not being heavy enough. I personally think its a beautiful cover. Crown The Empire isnt required to only do heavy stuff. I love their heavy songs, but i also love their softer songs like this one. They are amazing either both ways

I'm actually really thrilled that they show their vocal talent in this song. From someone who has really followed Crown the Empire from the beginning, this is a great step they took and a wonderful cover. It is full of expression and I love that it ties in with their other work. Great song.

Just because Dave isn't screaming, doesn't mean the song is already "bad". I thoroughly enjoy this, and I think it is one of the better covers on the album. (Everyone is entitles to their own opinions of course).

I respect all of your opinions, but keep in mind that not ALL of their songs have screaming. If that's something you enjoy, then good for you, keep an open mind that they're not aiming towards the heavy side of things every single time.

LOL at all the close minded people who can't appreciate music unless it has screaming, you're just as bad as the people who claim "screaming isn't music" not my favourite to be honest, could use a few little tweaks, but it's not bad at all. Definitely better than anything I could have done, or most of you.
I agree completely, it's awesome, but I actually prefer the Ellie Goulding version. This just doesn't hold the same energy, then again I don't think it's trying to accomplish that but that's just my favourite part of the song in general.
Producing music doesn't mean I can't critique it. Obviously CTE has mad talent, but this cover lacks any real energy. Compare this song to any other song they have ever done, fuck even Lead Me Out of the Dark has more energy then this. Its not a bad song, its just disapointing in comparison to the masterpieces of Machines, The Fallout etc

Leah there is a difference between simply preferring and bashing anything that's not just growls and breakdowns ! I prefer unclean vocals but u also like cleans and don't talk down on bands that try it.

I LOVE THIS. I'm a huge fan of their heavy stuff but their lighter stuff is so good. They're evolving beyond the typical hardcore bands that only last so long and growing as musicians. Another great track from CTE. Great job fellas
Going through the comments had me like "Okay, but what about the actual song?" Everyone seems to be either complaining about it not being "heavy" enough (it would sound ridiculous if it was, tbh) or talking about how close-minded are the previous.

Well, I think it's good. Literally the first thing I've ever heard from this band and I think it's great. I think I might be checking out some of their original stuff (which is apparently "heavier" which is what I deeply enjoy) and if it's even half as good as this is, Crown the Empire is my new obsession. Anyway, great cover!
Ana T. I think it's an amazing song :) I enjoy the original, but this one blew me away. I really love how well Dave's voice compliments Andy's and how well they harmonize.
I like it. I was kinda disappointed at first because I was expecting some epic screams or something. But after a bit I really liked it. Andy and Dave have amazing voices and they go so well together its insane. This is a pretty good cover in my opinion, lets try to remember that Crown the Empire can pull off more than just screaming.
I love that they kept it clean. The title is Punk goes Pop. They did a cover with their voices, but without changing the entire flow and sound of the song. Dave's cleans are incredible and paired with Andy just equals a great, soft, song.

Dave and Andy's vocals are so amazing, gave me goosebumps. I loved it. I mean you can't do much with this song but they killed it. They even said they didn't have much of a song choice. Regardless, they did a great job. Can't wait to see them live
I'm an avid metalcore fan and listener, and I don't know about anyone else out there that is like that... but I always have certain times where I'd just like to calm down and listen to softer music, but still feel emotional like most metalcore does. And this.... this does that, I mean.... this was amazing in my opinion.
See, this is why I love Crown the Empire. Their heavy music is just as good as their softer music.
Okay, Crown the Empire is my favorite band. I love all their sound, no matter what. I'll always follow. And no, it's not because I'm not open-minded. I'm just stubborn and I love my band. I love both soft sound and heaviness, and CTE has the perfect mixture in a lot of their songs.
I think anything from this band is amazing. I'm completely obsessed. I love the music, lyrics, and vocals. It all works 100%. Just PERFECT.

The clean vocals by dave are just beautiful, the first time I heard it I didn't give it a chance because they're wasn't screaming, then I payed more attention the the uniqueness of this cover and its just so damm good.
why is virtually no one talking about how beautiful this cover is, the vocals are so euphonious and the instrumentals are ethereal. oh my dear sweet _lord_.

Im actually glad they abstained from screams in this song. Although i was expecting some mind-blowing uncleans, part of me thinks its more beautiful and meaningful this way. I like breakdowns and uncleans as much as the next guy, but the emotional factor the cleans produce in this song speaks. As for the rest of the album, i couldnt say; i havent heard it yet. But i think all this criticism need to stop.
A great take on a great song in my opinion. Everyone who says Crown the Empire sucks now, but I feel like those same people don't understand that when a band changes they change because their influences change. If a band doesn't allow its music to grow and evolve then wed have another band that sounds the same on every CD. Que Nickelback. Great job CTE!

Why are so many people hating on such a talented band? I've followed them since the start. I saw them live before they were signed. And they've always sounded great. This cover sounds smooth. They've done slow songs before. And the newest album was heavier in parts and more musically inclined with the guitar solos and drums. People need to chill

I find the way that they covered this song was absolutely beautiful. I'm not a big fan of the song the way it was originally and when I found out they were going to cover this song, I was a bit disappointed because I thought they could've picked a better song. Hearing it now though, I know they made a good choice and executed it well

For those of you that are complaining about this cover. Yes, it does not have screaming. But not every song from a metal band needs screaming in order to be good. I love that this song is different from what they normally do. It's a change. And sometimes it's nice to have a little bit of variety in a band. The cover is great. Sure, there are a few things that could have been done differently that would have made it better, but for the most part... it's a really good song.
If you all would get your heads out of the gutters and stop disliking every song that doesn't have the tiniest bit of screaming, you would be able to see how well CTE did with this.
this is called PUNK goes pop not SCREAMO goes pop... so sometimes it will not have screams... but who cares it is still a freaking awesome cover :P

I think its actually quite cool of them that they're trying different sounds like it's not all the same so when they bring out a new song you have no idea what to expect, idk i think it's a lot better than just sticking with heavy music (even though they're heavy music is amazing) and if to the people who are like hating on this, it's just one song get over it...

its a perfect song for the new years with the firecrackers and everyone raising their lighters up in the sky waving it from side to side along with our bodies. This puts me to a whole new level of chill. This would also sound so fucking good live. I'm too in love with this song to find someone to love. This is definitely one of the highlights of the album
I especially love the last few choruses towards the end where they say we're gonna let it burn yea we're gonna let it burn because they definitely changed it to something more sentimental rather as how Ellie made it more fierce with repeating burn burn burn several times

I love this song more then the original version
Most people need to understand that its not all about screaming or heavy instrument style..i love Crown The Empire and i don't care whether or not their music is heavy. This is different from their usual music yes, but its good that artists try different styles from their usual one. I respect everyone's opinion on here, but there's no need to comment hate on it. Its a COVER, not a written song by them, but overall i freaking love this cover.
I like the original song but I love this cover a lot better:) I was expecting it to be like a hardcore version but I love how they changed up their sound. Dave's singing was one of my favourite parts. It's nice to hear him sing rather than just scream. I mean his screaming is really good but I love hearing him sing even more^~^ Awesome job CTE😊👏👍
What I really find disappointing is how people react to this song, i mean everyone says its shit, but u gotta give credit to them. First they didn't ruin the song (from the original one), 2nd Dave doesn't scream but Andy nailed it, he got a pretty good vocal. But what I kinda agree tho, is that they could have put a little bit of scream in the background of the chorus. Apart from that, that cover is pretty damn good.

I don't think this cover is a "disappointment". It's a COVER guys, they can make it sound however they please. The clean vocals are on point. As far as Crown The Empire goes I definitely think they have the capability of making even GREATER music. The Fallout is a great example for obvious reasons. I am a huge Crown The Empire fan and I am hoping for greater works in the future.
