Big fan of your comic content Chycho. Not a big fan since you ve started live streaming on twitch. But hey what can you do. Never going to stop watching your videos. Thanks for your continuing great work ...interesting content and the best asmr voice in the business.
Thank you for the support, Rick, as you know I love putting this stuff together, so it is a pleasure to share. As for the live streaming, we're definitely going to start back up with edited videos at some point. The plan is to merge the two in sorts. These few months of live streaming is me putting the time in to learn what I need to learn to get it done, aside from having a little fun in the process :)
chycho I am glad to hear that you still will be making edited video’s. I think twitch and TH-cam are two different platforms. The live streams don’t play back so well on TH-cam. But as the commentator above, i still will be watching 😀 And yes, thank you for all your efforts, hard work and content.
It's my pleasure, Jen, and for sure, Twitch and TH-cam are different beasts. Both are great but what a difference. It's been super fun exploring Twitch on this Bill Hicks Break - yup, I still consider myself on a Bill Hicks break, on a sabbatical of sort to learn the ins and outs of Twitch. Been a nice ride so far, learned a lot, and I'm actually getting close to merging the two worlds, just a couple of more things to take care of... more on this later.
Thanks for watching by the way, very much appreciate the love and the feedback :)
I really respect the ambition and determination you possessed as a 20 year old. Considering most kids that age are somewhere between struggling to survive and drifting aimlessly through life, what you accomplished starting your own publishing venture with 20th century technology is immensely impressive. I hope that I learn from your experiences.
Thanks, Cam, it was an interesting and very educational period for me so I'm very grateful for it. It's one of the reasons why, in the Personal Finance videos I put out, I stated that one of the best things to do in life in regards to personal finance is to acquire experiences. This was one of mine for sure.
Great video and a fascinating story! I'm very much looking forward to any readings from the Mermaid Publications catalogue. To create something out of nothing is a daunting challenge on many levels. Oh, and Chycho at a gun show (50:20) is a pretty wild concept to imagine :-)
Hi Chycho! Let me just thank you for the amazing content. I watch your videos almost every day. Keep up the good work! Greetings from Lisbon, Portugal!!
Thank you for the love, Mario... salutations from Canada :)
Hey Chycho! I bought Mortal Coil #1 and #2 on Ebay because of watching this video. I’m interested in collecting the rest of the comics you published when you ran mermaid publication. Hopefully I can find them. Keep up the great work!
Awesome, brother, I hope you like them. Just a note though, apologies about the quality of Mortal Coil #2, it doesn't stand up to #1 - our inker bailed on us last minute and we had to scramble to get it to the printers on time, and I actually ended up doing some of the finishes and lettering on it... d'oh!... as for the rest of the books I published, I was offering them on ebay until the pandemic hit, and I will have them up again most likely towards the end of June. This is my ebay account: www.ebay.ca/usr/chycho ... if you don't see them up by then send me a reminder and I'll list them asap. Cool?
chycho All good! I’m sure I’ll enjoy them none the less. Awesome! I’ll definitely check towards the end of June and let you know if I don’t see them on your Ebay page.
chycho totally forgot to remind you to post the rest of the books on eBay. Hahahahaha Let me know when you do.
Great vid Chycho, very interesting story hope you hear from Gil.
woo hoo chycho you did it again from AKA (sour grapes) comics rock i love this show
Hey Chycho! I've been waiting for the story of your publishing company for awhile! Turns out the month you ran your first ad in Overstreet (Feb 1994) was the month I was born! Now I need a copy signed by you!!
haha... happy late late late B-day Vex :))
By the way, once I get to it, maybe by the time summer rolls around (fingers crossed), you'll be getting a full collection of Mermaid books, fingers crossed all the boxes made here :)
aaaahhhh!!! Thats awesome!
:)
Thank you very much for sharing this story. Unfortunately, I had to bail on the live stream, but I enjoyed listening to this story.
My pleasure, brother, it was super fun to do and I can now try and put together some of the other content that I've wanted to share from that period. Guess we can call this step #1 done :)
For sure, Step #1 complete. Looking forward to Step #2 and beyond
What a great and informative story this is 🙂
Hey Chycho :) I'm born while this story was happening ^^ (January 1994)
Me in 1994 welcomes you to this crazy and beautiful world :)
Does anyone have a link to the discord? Great video as always chycho
Thanks, Vicious, and here is the link to the Discord: discordapp.com/channels/427971617042464768/427971617042464770
Chycho you should get back in touch with your friends. 20 years is a long time. I recently found out that my Kung Fu master from my childhood passed away 5 years ago due to cancer at a young age. Prior to that I didn't know how it felt to have to mourn someone's death years after the fact. You've probably my experiences this but for me it was new. It was a very nasty feeling, and ever since I've been trying to reach out to people from that circle or time period.
That's the thing, you can't keep in touch with everyone that has crossed your path that you ended up liking. It's just the way life is. If you did then you wouldn't have any room for new people. If our paths end up crossing again, I'm sure we would be delighted and have great stories to share, which is a great thing.
By the way, regarding loss, just in case, you might find this useful: th-cam.com/video/GX0XOu9QdlA/w-d-xo.html
Peace, brother :)
True. But in the age of social media I've found it far easier to find and get in touch with people from your past than ever before without the need for a full time commitment or even a meet up. Takes a big part of the hassle out of it. As long as you bear in mind that both parties are going to be very different people in the present. ☺️
Found mortal coil on ebay!
Cool! Issue #1 was ok, considering. Issue #2 I would not recommend though ;)
Looks like some of my other books are on ebay as well, double fun :))
