I have the same generator. It got me through 7 days of no electricity in below freezing temperatures last year here in Texas. I thanked God everyday for that generator due to our home being all electric. This generator handled the load of the entire house with no problem. Only thing was it went through alot of gas but I will never complain due to my family and pets being warm and safe.
I didn't read all the comments, but your fuel petcock has a removable screen in it that should also be inspected/cleaned, so the inline fuel filter isn't really needed, unless you want piece of mind that you have clean fuel going to the carb. And... usually the spark plug comes with the gap pre-set, but it should be checked prior to the swap. You never know if it's been damaged during handling, or shipping. Also, last thing... if the air filter element did not come pre-oiled, then you should use new, fresh engine oil to oil it for maximum filtration... this ensures that your foam element stays pliable so that it doesn't dry-rot if you forget to change it out, plus makes it sticky so that any dirt or foreign debris gets stuck to the element and doesn't pass through to the carb. Good vid!
Great video Ron, I was able to replace the carburetor, recoil and fuel tank valve on my Predator 4000 that hadn't been run in 6 years! Thank you for this great instructional, couldn't have done it without you.
Thank you Ron for your instructive video. I just replaced the carb on my 6 year old Predator 8750 following your instructions. Went without a hitch and the generator started right up!
Thank you so much. Generator wasn’t starting 2 weeks ago, bought the kit, did everything, started first time. Ice storm coming tonight and we will probably lose power, you are a life saver.
Just found your video and ordered the carburetor kit. My 8750 probably has a dirty float bowl or clogged jet that I can't seem to get to because of the electric pod that is attached over the float bowl. The screws are on with Loctite I guess because they will not turn loose. This kit is an easier way to fix my starting problems this year.....thanks!
Thanks for the video. I had an issue with the generator leaking fuel between the carburetor and the spacer. I contacted Harbor Freight technical assist. They were no help. I stated that i thought that I need a gasket to stop the leak. They told me i could order the part from them, but it would 10 to 12 weeks. I stated that there had to be another alternative. They told me about a website called generator guru. I contacted generator guru , and for $17.00. I got 3 gaskets only. Mad at myself for not doing a TH-cam search before contacting tech support. Lesson learned.
Ron.. I own predator 8750 brand new. Never used it. It has been sitting in my shed for 4 years. I start it up every 4 to 6 months. Ran excellent. This year I neglected it by not starting it up.. I reside in Florida. Hurricane Ian was one day from reaching Central Fl. Ran to my shed. Opened gas tank poured 2 gallons of fuel. It cranked up and ran for about 5 seconds.. I noticed gas tank metal cap was oxidized. I see in the tank a brown fine sand. I drained gas from tank and cleaned it. When I poured gas in tank the gas valve started to leak. Mind you generator has never been used. I am hoping you or some of your followers have some good advice. Not sure if I should crank it up with out further maintenance..
@@channelron3593 I followed your advice. Un installed carb. Followed your video and a few hours later generator is running like new. Just purchase Sta-bil gas treatment. So Ron. Thank you for your video. I feel like I just graduated from Ron You Tube Tube University. Be well.
I have an identical generator. Great generator but is getting harder to start. But that's okay. I've had it 5 years now and it is time to do some maintenance. Thank You for the tuneup information. I've ordered a kit and thanks to your video, I stand a reasonable chance of success tuning it up. Once again, Thank You. Very helpful.
A really good video. Two things viewers might find useful to know: on my 4-year old Harbor Freight 8750, I needed to take the plastic cover off the electric controls to connect the wires that run from under the carb. Easy, but took a minute. Also, the spacer that's now in the kit was a spot-on copy of the previous one and I was able to use the new one. An hour later, the generator started on the first pull and ran flat out steady without the choke. Weirdly, the plastic arm that controls the choke keeps popping out and falling behind the air filter housing. I'll have to think about a way to stabilize it while allowing it to turn.
If you store it with gas in it only use ethanol free gas. I run mine monthly for about 15 mins and shut off the gas and let it burn all the gas from the carb. It's been sitting outdoors covered with a tarp for about 5 years now. Still starts with 2 pulls.
5 years and over 200 hours on my Predator 8750 with the same carburetor. I always shut the generator off by turning off the fuel and letting it run out of gas and every year if I have not ran it in six or seven months I will change the fuel. Oil change every year and switched over to an NGK spark plug that's the only thing I've done to that predator in 5 years and it starts on the 2nd pull just about every time.
Great generator I also shut the fuel off, from what I was told is up hare in the north east the ethanol that is in the fuel does not help? Thanks for watching.
@@channelron3593 I to live in the Northeast and you are correct the ethanol fuel will take out these small engine carburetors very quickly if it's left in the carburetor to soak.
These replacement carb kits are all over Amazon and EBay for under $25, many come with spark plugs, air filter, and gaskets. I just ordered a new one and it came with the auto choke upgrade so I have to figure that out now.
Hello Ron. I bought the kit, did not come with manifold/space or filters. I installed exactly as you prescribed. Plugging in the solenoid was difficult as the receiving wires were tucked up behind the controls. Problem. The engine started right up. However, is surges with linkage bouncing like there is a 20 pound trout on it. The engine runs better close to choke and will not run at all wide open. Sounds like maybe vacuum leak. Could they have given me the wrong gaskets? The wire to the plug is cracked but I do not see any arcing. Any Ideas. Thanks
Mmm not sure The vacuum leak maybe? when running spray a LITTLE starting fluid around the carb that will tell you if you are getting air around the gasket, Just a LITTLE. also when you put the linkage back on did it line up correctly?
Hi Ron! Excellent video. Thank you. I bought this kit and did the carb change -- the generator would cut after running for 30 seconds, so changing the carburetor worked. HOWEVER, the new carb keeps opening and closing once the engine is set on run. I am not sure how to remedy this issue. Can you advise?
Hi maybe you can help me out I ordered a carburetor for the 8750 the only way it runs if I leave the choke on there is a sticker on the generator where it said start and run the generator will only run on the start mode can you please help me thank you and it's a great video
Mmm I'm wounding if the flout is not opening up enough? I would try dropping the bowl and check that fist, I know its new, but I would start there. also check for any air leaks between the carp and engine could be taking in to much air. you can do this with starting fluid, just spray a "LITTEL" around the carb and engine and see if the engine changes, if so then you may have a gasket problem.
Great video, I will definitely try this. My generator is doing the same thing, the throttle is searching like your generator was doing in the beginning of your video. I'm hoping this will work, my generator is only a year old and I only used it a total of 4 days on a power outage.
Many times it's caused by some of the tiny holes in the carburetor emulsion tube being dirty/clogged. This has happened to mine a couple times from letting it sit without draining the gas from the carburetor. I didn't replace the carburetor, just cleaned it to fix it. Now I always drain the gas from the carburetor and tank before storing it.
@@iraborton3941 Thank you for the info, I will definitely drain the fuel next time I plan on storing it. This is my 1st generator and was unaware that this has to be done to it. I figured just adding fuel stabilizer was go enough.

Good luck with that one kept having to take apart my 4000 watt predator generator over an over the tank continues to collect trash after cleaning over an over until I have a small leak on the bottom of the carburetor where that screw goes it will strip sooner or later an you will have to eventually buy a whole new carburetor
I must admit the 4000 watt predator generator runs real smooth just have to unplug before you turn your generator off use not to now it has built it's magnetism back up they run real quiet an smooth, keep the oil change an an put a new spark plug in so many hours I use ngk an keep your arrestor clean other then that they are really good generators my kids runs everything their phone chargers, PS5 games an tv, refrigerator an air conditioning I give predator generators the thumbs up
