Great video! I think now is the best time to catch up on overlooked last gen games. I bought Wet after watching this and i'm loving it so far. The controls are atrocious but I wouldn't call it broken. The style and presentation is the best aspect about the game. Reminds me of the No More Heroes series.
Thx so much for setting me straight on Spec Ops The Line. I totally ignored it on the title alone, thinking it was just yet another ghost recon or modern warfare...the gameplay is fine, middling fps stuff I suppose, but the morally ambiguous story and character development, wow I was totally blown away by it. Not to mention the awesome soundtrack, featuring Hendrix, Mogwai...just amazing, wish more shooters actually gave you stuff to think about.
I agree with Syndicate. It's way more fun than one might expect from a reboot game that doesn't even follow the same genre as the previous titles of the series does. Also, my only 360 from the year 2008 is still working. It may have gotten a bit louder during the years, but that's hard to tell since the console has always been very noisy. But it's working nonetheless, I'm happy with it.
I also loved Timeshift & Inversion. I could easily see them being overlooked. Neither were perfect, but with great controls and interesting mechanics, they were both a very gory and fun way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon . . .

I was hoping you'd include Alice in these videos. Fantastic game, love it to death for the wonderful art style and the balls it shows dealing with taboo issues like psychosis and child abuse.
Amen to that...I got Alan Wake and the American Nightmare DLC for 5€ last year in a Steam sale...best 5€ ever spent, i put close to 25 hours in both games and was just blown away by the story, the athmosphere and gameplay was fun, too...highly recommended!
I don't really see that as a "hidden" gem. Great game, but it got a lot of respect when it came out. Good reviews all over the place, and I remember a lot of people I know getting it.

Had multiple failures on 360's, but figured it out how to keep them running new. I got mine from some jerkoff on c-list for $50 and it sounded like that airplane effect. Well, after finding out that the original GPU Cooler (one with the extra heatsink in front of the CPU) and changing the CPU one to the original also works. Those described are the ones that both have heatpipes on them. After installed use aluminum foil around the fins to make the air suck in over the GPU / CPU paths and tape it with electrical tape and your golden. It has worked for over 3 years and no game play problems and no speed up on the fans. $50 and $3 each for the heatsinks on ebay and the system is like new. Keep on rocking MetalJesus ... great vids!!!!
Binary Domain and The Darkness were the surprises of my 360 gaming. BD actually had a plot that kept me playing and solid mechanics all around. Good choice man :)
I didn't buy a 360 or PS3 at launch, I waited until the first price drops happened. HOWEVER, the RROD on the 360 was what actually scared me into getting a PS3 instead of an Xbox 360. Once they got the failure rate under control, I eventually got a 360. But MOST of the games I bought were for the PS3 because it had become my primary gaming rig and oddly enough, it was BECAUSE of Microsoft and the RROD.

@4:40 the box like apparatus that fits into a gun is called a magazine. A 'stripper clip', used in some firearms, is used to load the magazine. Very important difference.
I've had multiple Xbox 360 consoles fail. Three of the original design and two of the redesign. After the 5th system, I just gave up on the 360 and got a PlayStation 3 to replace it.

I'm being realistic. I own a 360 as well and I enjoyed playing Gears Of War and Fable as well as a few other exclusives. I found I got more for my money with the PS3 and a Ps Plus membership though.

Call Of Duty is the only reason the 360 sold more in North America as well. PS3 still outsold 360 on a world wide scale. Xbox fanboys will never admit it though.
Lurch Murphy I knew 360 was an inferior console to the ps3, because games like you said, Last of Us is too strong maybe for the 360. Perfect Example: The Xbox 360's Final Fantasy 13 needs exactly 4 discs to play the game while the PS3's FF13 uses only 1 disc(the old days on the FF7,FF8, and FF9 games on PS1). And the Metal Gear Solid Legacy collection is only available on PS3 because MGS4 was on it and for power reasons, X360 doesn't have it. I do say they are both great consoles, the only I don't like about X360 is that it's weak and MS is bullshitting since they're filthy rich to make it a powerhouse.
Oh, gods, Spec Ops: The Line is pretty much my little piece of gold, one of my favorites from the past gen. I always love the fact that people say that "it begins as a generic military shooter" because the game actually needs this basis to build something much bigger as the player progresses. I think "surprising" is just the right word to describe this game.

Great video. My launch day 360 died after about a year, I sent it in and they sent me back a different one. That one lasted about 3 years and it also got the red ring. I bought a slim and since then have never had an issue.
1. HELL YES, "WET"! LOVED that game. 2. I've had an Elite model for about 5 years now, and it's never given me any problems. 3. Another hidden gem you might like is "Conan"... very "God of War"-esque, dirt cheap, tons of fun, and is really true to the source material and character. Great videos, man! :-)
I've owned 3. Bought one way back about a year after launch, it lasted about 3 years or so before red-ringing, then I bought an X360 Arcade unit and put my HDD onto that, but then when the 360 Slim was announced I pre-ordered that and traded in the 360 Arcade and HDD towards that. And my glossy Slim has been kicking just fine ever since.
I freaking love these lists. So many awesome games that go unnoticed. I'm using these as tools for snagging games on the cheap. Also, as for the question at the end, in 2011 my 360 got the RROD, my PS3 got the yellow light, my Wii got the disc read error, my video card died, and my DSi's R button broke.
Great video! I have had my original Xbox 360 for close to 5 years now and it still works like a champ (knock on wood). It's the Arcade model which has a white plastic disc tray and didn't come with a hard drive. In speaking of hard drives, one of my favorite features of the 360 is the ability to install games from the disc onto the hard drive. I've noticed that games play more smoothly when they are installed and because the games runs off of the memory of the hard drive and not the disc drive, the system is much quieter.
I enjoy your videos, my favourite which I really enjoyed was Spec Ops the line. Really surprised with it, so thanks for that. Also I have 2 xbox's the first white hdmi release and my xbox elite I purchased on launch day. On day of purchase I opened them up and re-paste my chips with better quality and more expensive paste. There still going strong and never are they off, so glad I did
I have a X-Box 360 Arcade manufactured in 2009 and bought used from a friend in June 2011...it's a love, only the power supply is "dead" in October 2013. God save our consolles!

I got WET at release and I’ve no regrets, loved that game! Need to revisit it sometime for another playthrough. The first two Alice games are awesome as well, really hoping we get a 3rd game!

It's funny how my nes, snes, n64, gamecube, wii, genesis, saturn, dreamcast, playstation 1 & 2 and not to mention all my handhelds all work fine till this day but I had to replace my 360 twice and my PS3 (60gb) once. It's like systems were made to last before and now they are made to fail so you have to buy the same system over and over.

I'm really digging your channel, man. Thank you very much for your very fine content. I have owned 5 360s. I got my first two RROD'd fixed over and over by myself by dubious methods (as there was no Microsoft support in my country at the time). Later, with one fried, I went on the search for a hackable board, which I did indeed found, but wasn't successful at hacking it, completely ruining it. By my second attempt I knew better, and maybe took it a bit too far, ending up with a custom transparent water cooled hacked console, that could run virtually anything from my library of classic roms. I was so proud of it. The 360 I currently use is a very sleek Slim I bought already hacked. It has never given me a problem in these 5 years of constant use.
MJR - funny you asked that at the end, i came close to commenting about it on the part one of this. 360 was the system that xbox lost me. I've gone through 2 of them, and while im missing out on some games- i never wanted to invest in another 360 , since it might not work in 3-4 years. still have my original xbox though, works great. Fun to watch as always-
2017 and after being a PC only gamer for the entire 360 and PS3 era I have just bought a 360 and about 12 games. Going to go back through a load of content I missed out on during a great era. Have lined up Gears of War, Red Dead Redemption, Forza, Halo, Burnout, Alan Wake (yes it's better on PC but I got copy for 50 pence). Really looking forward to playing so many games I missed out on.
I've had mine since launch. I still have one of the originals. and yes I got the red ring a few times, but it wasn't a full circle, it was only three of the four lights so thankfully all I had to do was open it up and clean it out really good and it works like a champ to this day
Mini Ninjas and WET look awesome and I will definitely pick them up! As for which XBOX model I have, I actually have the newest version which resembles the Xbox One. It's the only version I've had since I was exclusive to the PS3/PSP during this time. Thanks for the awesome videos, man!
Dude you nailed the Spec Ops review, one of the best games of the generation! Also my first 360 died from the RRoD, swapped it for the (newly released) HDMI model and that's been fine for the last 5 or so years! One day I'll get a Star Wars 360...
My original xbox got a disc drive error after the warranty expired. I was super bitter about it because Microsoft wouldn't repair it, so I bought a ps3. I bought a 360 again last year during Black Friday. Great video, as always!

The character development and story is also very good in Binary Domain. I'd go so far as to call it the Final Fantasy of TPS's.

I've noticed that games play more smoothly when they are installed and because the games runs off of the memory of the hard drive and not the disc drive, the system is much quieter.
I enjoy your videos, my favourite which I really enjoyed was Spec Ops the line. Really surprised with it, so thanks for that. Also I have 2 xbox's the first white hdmi release and my xbox elite I purchased on launch day. On day of purchase I opened them up and re-paste my chips with better quality and more expensive paste. There still going strong and never are they off, so glad I did

I got one of the Xbox 360 Arcade models in 2010 and I'm happy to report that I have had no failures with it so far.

I have a X-Box 360 Arcade manufactured in 2009 and bought used from a friend in June 2011...it's a love, only the power supply is "dead" in October 2013. God save our consolles!

I have had 3 xboxs burn out of me but I got one of internal HD ones and that seems to be going strong.
I got WET at release and I’ve no regrets, loved that game! Need to revisit it sometime for another playthrough.
The first two Alice games are awesome as well, really hoping we get a 3rd game!

Great video. It's funny how my nes, snes, n64, gamecube, wii, genesis, saturn, dreamcast, playstation 1 & 2 and not to mention all my handhelds all work fine till this day but I had to replace my 360 twice and my PS3 (60gb) once. It's like systems were made to last before and now they are made to fail so you have to buy the same system over and over.
MJR, I love your "Hidden Gems" videos, keep em coming......As far as the original build of Xbox 360, I'm on my 8th Xbox 360, and no, I'm not exaggerating.....I currently have the first "mini" re-design, and it works flawlessly. So after a lot of pain, I'm finally completely happy with my Xbox 360. :)
I'm really digging your channel, man. Thank you very much for your very fine content. I have owned 5 360s. I got my first two RROD'd fixed over and over by myself by dubious methods (as there was no Microsoft support in my country at the time). Later, with one fried, I went on the search for a hackable board, which I did indeed found, but wasn't successful at hacking it, completely ruining it. By my second attempt I knew better, and maybe took it a bit too far, ending up with a custom transparent water cooled hacked console, that could run virtually anything from my library of classic roms. I was so proud of it. The 360 I currently use is a very sleek Slim I bought already hacked. It has never given me a problem in these 5 years of constant use.
What I like is that ALL OF THESE games exist for the ps3 too.
I still have my 1st generation Xbox 360. I got it from my brother's friend back in November 2007 and it's still going strong!!!

MJR - funny you asked that at the end, i came close to commenting about it on the part one of this. 360 was the system that xbox lost me. I've gone through 2 of them, and while im missing out on some games- i never wanted to invest in another 360 , since it might not work in 3-4 years. still have my original xbox though, works great. Fun to watch as always-
2017 and after being a PC only gamer for the entire 360 and PS3 era I have just bought a 360 and about 12 games. Going to go back through a load of content I missed out on during a great era. Have lined up Gears of War, Red Dead Redemption, Forza, Halo, Burnout, Alan Wake (yes it's better on PC but I got copy for 50 pence). Really looking forward to playing so many games I missed out on.

I've had mine since launch. I still have one of the originals. and yes I got the red ring a few times, but it wasn't a full circle, it was only three of the four lights so thankfully all I had to do was open it up and clean it out really good and it works like a champ to this day
I have to admit I'm really disappointed you didn't mention the Spec Ops sound track, it was phenomenal.

As for which XBOX model I have, I actually have the newest version which resembles the Xbox One. It's the only version I've had since I was exclusive to the PS3/PSP during this time.

Also my first 360 died from the RRoD, swapped it for the (newly released) HDMI model and that's been fine for the last 5 or so years!

My original xbox got a disc drive error after the warranty expired. I was super bitter about it because Microsoft wouldn't repair it, so I bought a ps3. I bought a 360 again last year during Black Friday. Great video, as always!
You need to check out the Bourne conspiracy! I swear no one talks about how satisfying the action and hand to hand combat is in that game and I’m not even a huge action game fan
