I adore how vampire survivors restarted a genre we have seen more single-stick shooters since then and it is incredible to see! I'm excited to see how the genre changes and grows from all this hype
Grandpa Robotron would be so proud if he could see us now.

@@MrT3a I've played Magic Survival, the genre has come a ways, but it's still good for killing half an hour. My thumb gets a bit sore though since you need to constantly be moving.
It was indeed a very under appriciated genre of games , atleast for a long while. Glad I bought vampire survivors too when I saw it. This genre is finally getting some more love :)
I love how most of these runs end with "This sounds like a good upgrade but maybe pulling enemies to me is a bad idea" seconds later immediately dies.

The game is a ton of fun. I think what's really great is the mechanic to have multi passives that don't just do a single thing but give bonuses AND penalties, or at least multiple bonuses.
I still wish there would be a game that combines all the unique and fun things, like
-Top run list like from Hunters Survivors
-The more you play a char, the more bonuses you get. These have to be limited of course, but should take some time (Hunter Survivors)
-Equipment like from Halftime Heroes, but this should be build upon to be character and weapon specific
-Pets like from Nomad Survival
-More Pets like from Spirit Hunters that you obtain on the run
-A talent tree like from Spirit Hunters for passive upgrades, it's a ton of fun. However, that one is frustrating to some degree but recently got changed to be easier to unlock
-unique boss chests like from Nomad Survival
-a proper unlock system
-a reason to play longer than 10 hours, so some sort of gold/ressource grind
-ascension system (e.g. start over after you finished but get resources to be spend on unique upgrades. Like Clicker Heroes ascension and transcension system)
-Specials like Arcana from VS
-Endless Mode like from Bounty of One. I like this one over 20 Minutes Till Dawn because you can keep going but you are guaranteed to eventually die, endless endless is no fun, but pushing limits is
-A fun system to obtain chars. I really enjoyed HoloCure which has a Gacha system and will add a system that if you roll often enough, you can choose who you get. So being unlucky won't feel frustrating
-A tier ranking of upgrades like (okay, there are a couple, the latest that comes to my mind is Soulstone Survivors, but Bounty of One also uses it)
-More exciting map design. Soulstone Survivors does it in a way it doesn't affect you, while Nomad Survival has a map none-repetetive with unique spots and teleporters
Oh hey, it's Dex! Didn't expect to see you on a DF video, although a suppose it makes sense on a Bullet Heaven game.
If there's anyone to make a wishlist of features for a game like this it would be you, I've mostly watched your VS vids but I've seen you covering a ton of these games.
I will say, it's kind of nice to have games that don't have a meta-progress system, or at least one that inherently makes the game easier. Unlocking new/different options for gameplay is cool, but there's something especially rewarding about being challenged on your 1st run and your 100th run.
Still, having a super deep and expansive progression and/or ascension system in this kind of game sounds like a great idea as well!

And yes, I agree. I enjoy the lack of competition but at choice, it can be very challenging and competetive
I gave this game a try, and managed to get to 27 minutes into overtime on my third run. Try Toxic Blizzard from the Smuggler's Shop, max your chance to freeze on hit, get the enemy % chance of exploding and frozen enemies explode, get the 50% knockback on hit aura, and the one that constantly pushes back nearby enemies, and just take every chain upgrade you can find (including illegal ones, one of which makes your chain shots emanate from you and another of which gives +2 chain). Your damage doesn't matter, just win with % damage from toxic blizzard and the exploding enemies, in the late game they all have so much armor you'll be doing 1 point of damage to everything, and it's fine.

Black hole was definitely a mistake at the end... it makes knockback actually pull the enemies into you.
reminds me of a mistake i made in an older game...
Knockback on a melee weapon is a terrible idea when fighting enemies with ranged attacks...
Thought I was looking at a copy but it actually has a lot of things I'd want to see in vampire survivors and is unique pretty nice

I feel like DF has a nemesis in Phil Swift. DF causes lots of damage and Phil Swift fixes lots of damage.

I'm sure someone else said it, but when you opened a chest, you didn't get a choice of things, you just got all the things in the chest

Ok, the overtime mechanic took this genre to the next level.
"we're doing so much damage now the ennemies are just melting away" actually only your damage output is high, your damage was more in the line of below 10 per hit maybe around 20 for some but that's about it xd
I don't understand how everyone that plays this doesn't realize that the demon chest upgrades are not a choice when there is more than one listed, it is a multiple level up.
Yeah I had to pause and look back because I saw it say level 4 and 5 and thought it let him skip a level at first because of what he was saying. But nah DF just can't read per-usual lol.

Sucks that this game type was immediately mass produced. At least they seem to have more put into them than those left or right choice road games.
Game's fun. Inspires entire new subgenre. Subgenre is generally fun and well-done. Continues the trend of being incredibly affordable.
People: "OMG WHY ARE THERE SO MANY GAMES IN THIS GENRE GETTING RELEASED?!? WHY!?!? THIS IS SO BAD!"
....this is why we can't have nice things.
You don't have to play them if you don't want to. It's fine to exclusively pick the standout titles in a genre like most people do.
But... I have no clue why someone would complain about a genre getting refined as quickly as the bullet heaven genre is.
VS had a lot of issues. Still does, honestly. And most of the other games in the genre have been either directly addressing some of those issues (like this one and making bosses more obvious) or been trying other design elements, like soulstone being in 3D or 20 minutes having more "proper" bosses and much more unique of characters, with a much more impactful starting loadout.
And all of this means that one day here, we're probably going to get one of these games that's legitimately a masterpiece. Something that reaches those same levels of perfection as games like Stardew.
Don't get me wrong. VS is still a legitimately amazing game. It's just... very obviously not the peak of what the genre COULD be.

DF if your reading please look up DungeonMaker I started playing this game and it's a lot of fun and replay value is not that bad you have 4 different modes to pick and you get a bunch of heroes that you can pick from each has a bunch of costumes and they have an awakened skin then another transcended skin

My biggest problem with this game is that it seems like the original game the developer was working on, Malice and Greed, hasnt gotten any updates and thats sad cuz it was a really cool homage to the original SMT series
I'm working on making that game 1000x better than what it currently is, there are a lot of things i'm unhappy with and that are caused by me being new to programming when i started making that game

Day 94 of recommending "The Perfect Tower 2", it’s a semi-idle incremental tower defense game, where you upgrade your tower, with a lot of things to do! p.s. you get to kill a lot of cubes, and if u grind to late game...well i wont ruin the surprise
