Dave have you considered doing an update to navigating the lake. The hurricane changed and moved things around a lot on the lake. Just a thought for new people coming down they buy a map but it is just not the same. Thanks for a good show

What Lures are working best for catching the Larger Bass? We've been catching 1 and 2-pounders and rarely a 5 or 6 lbr on Senkos, worms, jerk baits, and stick baits but not catching any hogs like we did last year. Also, what's happening with the lake? It seems Cypress trees are mostly dead and lots of dead Palm Trees, especially where they sprayed to eliminate grasses in some areas. Hurricanes x2 had a negative effect? We see guys with nets casting out and taking bait fish... is that the problem with the lake now? It's truly not the same as it was a year ago when we were catching 6 and 7-pounders. There's a TON of pressure out there. Are people just keeping the big uns? (which is totally illegal). Thanks for providing great content as always, Dave! God Bless you and the crew. ~ A.

Your observations are correct - I’m on the lake every week and the pressure is decently affecting the lake. It’s too small (~ 7,000 acres of fishable water) to sustain this kind of pressure. I was talking to an FWC survey guy at the ramp and he showed me his survey chart and it had 27 different state licenses plates for a single day. The lake will not survive this kind of pressure, especially for lure fishing. Sure you can always catch fish with shiners but are you prepared to spend $25/dozen every trip?

@@astrophysicistguy We'll never be on board for Shiners. I can totally recommend it for little tikes and young grandkids. There are true challenges with getting the Bass to hit your lure and we love it. I respect that people love Shiner fishing too it's the pressure that is unsustainable. Our concern is for the Bass who are obviously struggling. We talk with Jim every time we're out there too. He's awesome and I hope that he's able to get the data to the powers that be. FWC might want to consider limiting motorized traffic (for at least a short time) during the spawn to give our Lunkers a break from the pressure and maybe allow them to complete their spawn and protect those precious larvae. We love our lake and want it to be a viable and healthy lake for many years to come.
Thanks to Dave and Barry who also love our big pond. Sorry to go off on a rant. 🐟😄

@@andreamauriello1150 yeah shiner fishing isn’t all that fun … it may be ok to do once in a while but just sitting in one spot and throwing out your shiner & waiting for it to get eaten isn’t all that appealing … and it’s incredibly expensive. I will tell you one thing, a buddy of mine is a local guide and he believes we’re just training the bass to eat shiners because there is so much of it going on …and you can forget FWC doing anything productive. They can’t even figure out that they could make a fortune doing mechanical harvesting vs the spraying they do and they just think hydrilla is bad even though its the major water filter in the system.
