Thanks for the review Luke! I'm sure Haakon can talk in more depth about your idea for house-ruling an open market of buildings and why the game doesn't work like that. An earlier version of the game did exactly this but it can result in a lot of AP between turns since the next player can't take their turn until the current player has evaluated all their options and taken a tile. It is especially intimidating for new players who don't really know what the value of certain tiles might be at that specific moment. We went for the faster, less complicated option, but I'm sure a group of more experienced players could cope with an open market once everyone knows the relative value of things.
That makes sense, call it a family game without that house rule and maybe a "gamer variant" including it as an option. That way the original design sticks to the streamlined method. :-)
Also if possible you could have an online printable version of the rule for a different varieties for non new players. 😇💡 Plus there also an expansion pack in the future you could do that could add new gameplay/stuff. Like a 3 tile length glue together board (that represents building sold marking) that you put 3 different tiles on that changes ever turn so you get choice between a blind luck or 3 random face up luck.
Just received the KS deluxe version and thoroughly enjoy the game. Was looking for a rules/review video and found this one. Absolutely loved your house rules idea and on our third game we implemented it. After two games using it, everyone agreed it's the way to go in the future. It increased the game length by only a small amount. The trash talking as each person chose a card took more time. ;) This video is the best I've watched on the game and was an objective and spot-on analysis. Great job!
Okay, Not disappointed I pre-ordered this. I think it is light enough to play with some of my non heavy gamers. I think your house rule would work nicely.
My 5 cents: try it without the house rule first. That house rule will almost double the game length for very little increase in depth:) Add the expansions if you want it heavier.

This just made my day, thank you so much for the kind words!!! 😍

Yeah, I'm using it from now on and it solidifies it a bit more.

Would you recommend Streets for just solo play? Would younger kids enjoy this game?
I think solo is one of the better modes for it.
Thanks for another great review
My pleasure!
Another great review! Annoying You got it before me!!! (Just kidding!!! 😂) Definitely happy that I preordered it!!!
Hope you enjoy it!
Great review. I had the same criticisms as you. Overall a bit disappointed, especially with the FOMO mechanic and the luck-of-the-draw gameplay.
Thanks!
Got my pledge coming. Intended to play solo Anyway.
Should be good then!
Totally misunderstood this. I thought you were explaining how to score on the streets. You can take the man out of Glasgow…
Ha ha!
