Just a correction, there won't be 27 volumes of this as it contains more chapters than the standard single volumes. The original volume 1 had 4 chapters, the Fullmetal Edition has 6. There is going to be 18 volumes of the Fullmetal Edition.

Awesome vid! I worked all of spring break while I was off for college and spend almost $300 on all 15 that have/are going to be released this year for my younger brother as a birthday gift. I was skeptical because I personally know nothing of this series but my brother is a huge fan. It is such a relief to know that my money was well spent on several quality books for him. Just pulled the trigger on buying vol 1-8 of the Fullmetal Edition after watching your video! I remember being really disappointed by the quality of the 3-in-1 edition and looks like this will be a huge improvement.
I own the fullmetal alchemist manga, and I have it till volume 8, and the bookstores near me only sells up to volume 12, and that means I still have a long way to go
Man my only issue with these is that they are too nice. Like these are so spectacular to the point where I don’t even touch them in Barnes n’ Noble. I would be absolutely heart broken if I put any kind of wear and tear on them.

This gorgeous version of Viz's premium edition cost approx 10 times my original manga (the old ones, that has 27 volumes) and 4 times my version of premium (without colored pages and hardcover, just with same cover art and size, I think), and I can't find them on my local bookstores (obviously), so getting them from overseas will cost a LOT, and I'm broke af. Never understood people saying "Don't collect 3in1's. It just sounds kinda childish and elitist if anything. I personally do collect them and have no complaints. People act like they will spontaneously combust when they collect these things, lol.
I'm not proclaiming that you're doing anything wrong if you collect 3 in 1's. I just prefer the other releases over the FMA 3 in 1's. If you like collecting them and have no complaints keep on collecting dude!
It depends why you are buying them. If you are buying them as a collectors items and don't really care how much you spend, the single volumes and fullmetal additions are better. If you are like me and buy manga mostly to read, the omnibuses are perfectly fine. Collectors tend to be anal about page yellowing and quality, any mild damage etc.

The fullmetal edition is the way to go if you want to collect the manga. The paper quality, updated lettering, hardcover, and colored pages are all worth it. The box set will save you a lot of money as opposed to buying the volumes individually. You'll get the cover art for all 27 volumes if that matters to you, and they look great on the shelf too. You can't go wrong with either option, so pick the one you think you'd like better.

Looks really good. I have the same edition but in spanish. The spanish edition is just like the japanese one with a dustjacket, its definitely worth the money and the change since at least i hate those 3 in 1 volumes viz has been putting out.
I wanted the Spanish edition from Spain. But the shipping for all 18 volumes would be very expensive. So, this is great for me, living in the US and I love hardcovers.
Viz should do these hardcovers for more completed series like I would sell my old dragon ball 3 in 1s for a hardcover in this quality we are already are getting Akira Toriyama's manga theater in a hardcover so why not his most famous work
It should've been bigger and include ATLEAST 3 volumes. Buying 18 Fullmetal editions is gonna be one hell of a double dip. For someone who owns the box set. Now if the whole Manga was remastered in full color like Scott Pilgrim, that would be worth it.
