GREAT Technique! I am a faux artist myself and I watched this video for fun and not to learn. I've done and seen a lot of creative faux work get laid down, but you have an amazing artistic ability. Very impressive.
i do marbling and although this isnt exactly marbling its very very similar in design and the way you do it, im blown away if im honest, very very talented guy
GREAT IDEA--GREAT JOB---LOVE THE COLORS TOO--SMALL PROJECTS MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE ....LOVE YOUR VIDEO....WE HAVE WOODEN RAILING INSIDE THE HOUSE...CAME OUT LOOKING GREAT....
Wish would've started video from beginning. I usually paint whole area medium color, then blend with a dark first, then light, blending with medium color and with medium.
@severino1012 ' Thank you. I use various glaze mixtures depending on how deep/dark I want it...the more glaze the clearer/lighter...but basically 1/2 - 1/2 will work till you get the feel of it. I painted directly on the painted surface which, as I remember, was an egshell finish.
Placido, you should consider color of your furniture. the decorations in your house. For example, I would like to have marble in whitish color. why? because my decor is beach style. I'm planing to use 2 different greys and white for the finish lines. if u have browns and wooden floor, u should consider light beige , light brown and off white for finish lines.
Excellent!! Excellent!!!..........Excellent

The technique is easy to get out, but the right shades are hard to hit. Only practice helps. Excellent video. Thank you!
You are an incredible artist.

You had me at sponge!
Thanks. I use a standard 3 in. bristle brush...but you can use a house-paint brush or experiment with others.
Amazing work! Love the colour tones, exactly what my next project will be like, out of interest, is it water or oil based, acrylic or enamel paints?
Acrylic

bloody excellent,
what type of brush did you use to smooth out the veins?
Looks a decent final job but I agree you should really show the whole process
Great...Get in there and just experiment Colin. Start practicing and you will get there eventually. There are many variations to this technique.
nice work.. is this stone that is being painted?? if so what kind of paint would you use?

The fireplace was probably made of plaster...but that's unknown since it was covered in white paint which was the surface I fauxed over....
it's made in wood, painted white to start.
