  • Not many understand the massive advantage to cable operated brakes in early car development. Here Alan uses his 1915 Scripps-Booth Voiturette Race Car with a V8 Marine Racing Engine (first designed and built in 1913) to show and explain how and why it worked.

My '49 Crosley has quarter elliptical leaf springs in the rear too. Seems to have been rather common for the time.

That was 34 years later … I don’t think it was very common in 1915 👍 Cheers!

Alan called the rear springs, "half a spring". You could say that. But technically they are "quarter-elliptic" springs. ---Doozer

Thanks - got it 👍. Kind of “half of what you expect?”

I did not want to confuse Barry with the actual definition. Also, it’s just about half A spring.
