    The '73 Laguna getting crushed was rough. The nose alone was worth $$$

    • @dyer2cycle
      @dyer2cycle 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yes, I agree...as much as I hate the tacky fad of sawed off nose/rear end of vehicles as "wall art", at least if someone had taken the front of that Laguna as "wall art", someone could have bought it at a later date and put it back on a car that needed it....

    • @dyer2cycle
      @dyer2cycle 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Very true...but I think part of the problem, is this stuff is located too far away from most of the people who might actually want or need it...most people don't have the money, the time, or the means to travel thousands of miles to search for and retrieve cars or parts that they could afford to purchase is the logistics were better...that is kind of the situation for me, I need a bed, really a cab, maybe a parts truck for my 1970 C/20 I have owned and driven for over 25 years...there are none here, but plenty of them still out there for cheap(but not for long at the rate this stuff is getting crushed), but I don't have the time, means, or money to go out there and search for one..I notice in these videos nobody out there gives these trucks a second glance or mention, whereas they are gold here back east..I suspect this stuff has been so plentiful out west for so long everybody sees it as common stuff...well, I also suspect one day they will wake up and say, "oh shit, it's all gone!", like we did 30-35 years ago...@@jjMcCartan9686

    The crushing part was sick to watch. Glad you could save what you could. Loved the Cold War Motors references! 71 -72 Buick Skylark taillight lenses are apparently hard to get, so perhaps grab unique and unusual plastic lenses, trim bits and even glass if can for anything obscure. The front plastic clip of the 73 Laguna would have been a good grab. Derby guys probably hated seeing the 71-76 full size GM cars getting smashed!

      And one day, the old American automobile (or old European, old Japanese automobile) is gonna end up being reincarnated into being part of a video game, Just think about games such as Forza and Gran Turismo and probably some other like GTA and of course, seeing vehicles that were crushed here into any kind of video game as that they were reincarnated as a 3D model.

Luckily, most of what was left in that yard were not desirable or were not worth saving. Its kind of satisfying to see them get crushed and recycled vs. rusting to nothing in that field.

    There are about 4 or 5 TH-camrs that I know of, probably many more, who does this type of content, or similar, and they are always constantly putting out content of old yards being cleaned up/crushed, auctions, etc.., in the Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Dakotas, etc...well, these areas seem to be about the only areas of the country where there are still old cars sitting around in volumes like this...and my point is, it has to be finite, even there...at the rate these cleanup/crushing/auctions type videos are being uploaded, there can't possibly be that many places like this left, even in these stronghold/last stand areas. Here back east, this stuff is long gone, just a few vehicles left here and there that a few hoarders still have, and as they die off, much of it gets scrapped. We have to be getting pretty close to the end of any 1930's-1990's sources for old car projects and useable used parts....

      Ditto! Couldn't have said it any better! Northeastern U.S. has been depleted of ALL the old yards that existed in my youth (I'm 65) I just can't watch the old hulks getting crushed! Brings a tear to my eyes......

    • @dyer2cycle
      @dyer2cycle 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As a lover of '67-'72 Chevy trucks(which are, and long have been, very popular around here), I can't believe how many of these video content creators, and salvagers, seem to walk right on by restorable 67-72 trucks, useable cabs, good cabs, lots of parts, like they are nothing...and look at stuff like old Toyotas and mid-70's Malibus, Vegas, etc. instead...I just shake my head..saw some of these trucks in this video...these parts, and parts trucks, are unobtanium here, and stuff like a roached out old cab or beds, they want a war pension for here..IF you can even find one...demand far outstrips supply. The last I saw one of these trucks in a junkyard around here was in the early-mid 1990's..and there weren't many then. I wish I had the means, I would go out there and haul back as many trucks, cabs, beds, parts of these trucks as I could find...bring them back here and sell them to people who actually want them and appreciate them...@@lostrailbeds8289

      There is very little survivable space in that car. My guess is two cars hit head on at full speed to twist & move the steel structure of the body the amount that it did. If you look close there are cuts from the Jaws on the pillars.

    • @OldCarAlley
      @OldCarAlley 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mr.goodpliers6988 I saw that.... I couldn't help but to hit pause on that Citation a few times.
      I must be old.... I remember them when they were new cars. I also remember doing brakes on them all the time. Their brakes were a poor design, like the rest of the car. I hated the GM X body cars back in the day and never thought the day would come that I would look at one and admire it. I guess I am admiring it, due to it surviving this long! There are lots of other cars that fit into that category also, like the Granada, Pacer, Chevette, Omni/Horizon, Escort and a few other lack luster designs that rolled out of Detroit.

      Those new KIAs then start to break down after a while and then completely get disposed of just in that scenario.
      And then Toyota Jan's new tundras and priuses alongside with some camrys start to malfunction and breakdown for no reason, For some reason, Toyota Jan had ruined Toyota and made most of the JDM guys who were interested in the AE86 and Supra (the old one) a bit pissed..
      Those new Subarus ain't gonna be remembered just like how a Subaru was a part of rallying.
      Those are the basics that most new vehicles nowadays ain't gonna be remembered most of the times by fans of said manufacturers, Shame that old relics have to go and be replaced with new crappy ones that no one will remember.

      What is happening to what is left of the old unrestored cars and trucks now, is similar to what was happening to all our military aircraft at the end of WW2...mass scrapping....

    That 2 door Newport which you decided to save would be a 1971 judging from the grill.

      That was a nice save being a 2 door. Many parts from 69-71 are shared, so plenty of demand.

    Is it just me noticing huge push cleaning up of all these old classic junkyards in last 3-3 1/2 years I believe it’s the push from the clean energy money, keeping these old cars from being restored and driven on the roads today while the United States is watching all United States and foreign manufacturing halting the vehicle production because no one is buying them and they will put all these cars in a huge abandoned area to rot away instead of recycling them and the batteries hazardous material

    Do they get more for scrap than they would if they auctioned off these valuable parts cars?

    • @66skate
      @66skate 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Prices for scrap go up and down. That's why you get guys like "adventures made from scratch" crushing so many decent cars He dumps them when scrap prices go up.
