Just found your channel last week and this is the fourth podcast i’ve listened to. Marine Corps Vet, graduating trade school next week. Trades are the way forward. Keep crushing gentlemen.

In high school i saw the writing on the wall and became a contractor. At 27 got a business, family and house. The trades are good but remember it does put hurt on the body and it aint for everyone.

He hit the nail on the head about working for the “bad electrician”! I’ve worked many trades, each one of them taught me what I liked and disliked. 9 times out of 10, the most disliked jobs were the ones where EVERYONE was a dick or a bitch.

I really appreciate the breadth of topics you guys cover. The perspectives of tradespeople and other blue collar professionals are still seldom heard so it's great to see it coming up more often.

I can relate to the fire phone comment. Our volunteer department was the same. The phone rang continuously if it was the fire phone. Before that was a separate phone that rang. That might be an interesting subject for you. Volunteer fire departments are struggling to keep people in our area.

55:00 it's called working to live. Not living to work. Life is short you spend most of it working for someone else.

Exactly. Was real disappointed to hear them parroting that boomer mentality. You can work hard and still prioritize your life outside of work. I’m working to live and if you have a problem with that then you don’t deserve my work

If ur blue collar you should definitely should be listening to podcasts(we have the luxury of not having meetings). I learned so much and from different perspectives. And being able to have conversation with people about topics is so important. Greetings from north west iowa!!!

An active work ethic requires a reasonable temperament, particularly an ability to solve problems morally and to know when to seek support.

My dad found out the hard way about tampons in the drain… my aunt uncle and cousin lived with us when we were young young for about a year. We’ll drain was clogged nothing going out. My dad claimed under the house and pushed the snake down the drain twisted and pulled and pulled and pulled. Nothing came, nothing let loose. He got a better grip turned his back as he pulled and felt it pop loose looked up and BOOM! Popped in the face like Mike Tyson with a wad of tampons!!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Depending on your pay there are times when working a small amount of OT, can change your tax bracket. So working a half day on a Saturday may only change your check $50. Family time is more valuable!

Found your show and channel. Very helpful being honest about what you do. I want to farm but I'm reluctant from all the bullshit you deal with. But that's life. One day, I'll be thanking you guys on my farm! Thanks for sharing

Don’t discount the military. You can get your Apprenticeship done in a bunch of trades, plumbing…electrician etc. The Navy Seabees would be my first choice (US Navy Ret) but the other services have similar jobs.

I have applied to 60 jobs since February. I have experience as an electrician, auto mechanic and trade school. Nobody is hiring its all a lie people just want to bitch about young work ethic. I don't think people want good employees

OT is not really what it cracked up to be, don't get me wrong I'll work it if I need to, but honestly I understand when people want to end their week at 40. I miss alot good things because I'm working alot hours, and I sacrifice alot for my family to make ends meet, but if I could I would just work 40 and spend rest with my family, I don't want my son to be like me, asking why dad couldn't make it to my games.

So old mate is charging plumbers rates to dig trenches and change light bulbs. Sweet deal for him. And the other guy thinks its great sending untrained guys to service calls. Soooo... trades in America think ripping off clients is best practice.

Not trying to bust anyone's bubble bout working OT ..but if ya figured the tax rate on OT hrs vs RT You work for less money ..Least that was how it was years ago ..
