How crazy, right!? I just about fainted when it worked. 😂 And truthfully, people should try it more. There are pens I haven’t decided to sell that I’d probably be willing to sell if I knew someone was looking for it. It can’t hurt to ask!
That little mint green vintage pen is an Esterbrook CH (also known as a pastel purse pen). They’re the smaller version of the J series that was very popular, many are still in circulation. Pastel pens are a little harder to come by. If you get it restored, the vintage Esterbrook nibs are all interchangeable and there are some neat options out there. My favorites are the 2556 firm fine and 2668 firm medium. Restoration is fairly simple, you can even learn to do it yourself.
There is a little “Mimosa Shopette,” I think it’s called, and they sell in a few other stores around town. Check out their website when you can! Lots of Louisiana themed things!
@@gingerpeachy I had actually been thinking about making a video on my pen restoration/repair experiences. I have been bogged down with a lot of things lately and don’t make videos as consistently as you, but I might get around to making that video yet because I like to make videos that I think might help someone.
I have a fix for the pocket Opus 88 fountain pen. You may not like it, but if the aesthetics and/or idea don’t bother you, it could help you. I own the coffee shop version. I added an O-ring intended for Platinum Preppy pens just above the silver color ring of that back knob. You have to situate the cap, so that it will sit the way you want. When my pen is capped, I can barely see the O-ring and it stays in place. A transparent O-ring is an option too. I hope this helps you. Thanks.
Thank you! They’re from Mimosa Handcrafted in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They make some of my favorite jewelry. The rainbow is my reminder that God keeps His promises. And the hug ring is a hug from my sister! 🥰
Oh my god, those eggs. I grew up with Cadburys chocolate (big brand in Australia), I just love the texture-trip of these crunchy then deliciously smooth eggs🐇Loving the new Safaris but as a left hander who holds their pens weird I am worried that I wont love the very obvious grip section so I have not purchased one yet - I am hoping to try one at the Pen Show this year. Love the Wancai Mini, at first I did not like the stiffness of the nib, there is like no give to those babys, but now I love it - that being said Kawecos will always win the small game for me 💕
Kawecos are a good one to have at the top of the list. I do know that Lamy makes a left-handed nib for Safaris - I wonder if that would help you! The grip is definitely something to consider, though. I wish Cadbury chocolate was more readily available here. It is so delicious! We have these at Easter (and the bigger cream eggs and caramel eggs), and there’s a version of these at Christmas. Otherwise there are only a few retailers who sell a bar of Cadbury chocolate - and it’s nearly $3 a bar. So I savor them this time of year! 😋
I enjoyed your superlatives! That Montegrappa is currently enjoying a resurrection at Goulet Pens… and it seems to be the Elmo version 1. What a pretty pen.
Thank you!! 🥰 Yes! I filmed this video the day before it released! I am super excited. And it has gold trim! I’m not positive the colors are the same - the Goulet photos make it look more bright pink and yellow than this one. But we’ll see!
It was a spring limited edition in maybe 2021? This color is called Spring Bloom. I think mine was from Pen Chalet, but there was a pink, a blue, and a green version and they were all cute! The blue looked like a sky with clouds. I don’t know if you’ll find them readily available, but you may find them on the resale market!
I loved watching this! I admit I was surprised to see that you got another safari as I don't think of you as a safari person, but I understand loving the color. Does the pen have any kind of texture to it, or is it slick? I have the strawberry and cream pens and they have a lovely, almost textured, matte finish to them. I recently acquired a powder rose safari and it does not have this lovely feel to it. (I plan on selling it because of this.) You must have one of the most dramatic size differences in collections I've seen. Your big pens are quite large and those little gold pens are adorable and super tiny! I don't have anyone to recommend, but all of your vintage pens.....ok, ok, ALL of your pens, look really nice. Thanks for sharing these superlatives with us! 😊
Thank you Amy! 🥰 This was a fun one! The new Safaris are shiny and smooth/slick. But I don’t find it slippery. Admittedly, the triangle grip helps with that. 😂 And, I guess since I love the color so much, I have found myself reaching for that pen a lot this week! It’s not so bad for short-form writing. And I love the snap-cap. I don’t need to collect all the colors of the Safari, but I SUPPOSE there is a place for one or two in my collection! 😂 As for size differences- that’s something I love about fountain pens: variety! I love having so many options, which is why I could never be the kind of person who only owns one or two favorite pens. They’re all favorites for different reasons! I really do hope to get those little ring-tops working. How special would that be? I am still blown away that they were just given to me! Thanks so much for your feedback. I’ve got more of your videos saved to watch when I’m on vacation soon! I’m looking forward to it! 🥰
I have a medium nib and it has some feedback with most inks, but it’s a great writer. The pen is weighted a bit around the grip section because of the metal inside it, so it sits really nicely in your hand whether you post or not. I just think it’s a great all-around pen!
@@gingerpeachy Nice! I’m intrigued. I’ve never tried a Montegrappa pen. Does the nib perform more like a Sailor (lots of feedback) or Pilot (super smooth)? Or something else?
It’s definitely not as hard or feedbacky as sailor nibs. Apparently Montegrappa uses Jowo nibs. (I didn’t think about that until I just now looked it up.) So it could be that mine just has a bit of feedback, or they may tune them that way. But it’s reliable and comfortable and smooth. It’s not as glassy smooth as a gold M or B Pilot nib, but it’s not scratchy at all. But, I’ve only had experience with 2 Montegrappa pens!
Hello. I'd like to offer to buy the two mini gold pens you have (Wahl and Sheaffer). I'm an amateur at restoring pens, so I'm sorry I'm not confident enough to fix them for you, but I'll take a chance for myself, and promise to give them a good home. Let me know a price (including shipping) if you're interested in selling. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing your superlatives! I love hearing that you put yourself out there on IG and got your now favorite EDC!

I love the pocket pens and ringtops!
Thanks!
How is this not a tag video ❤ this is awesome!
Make it one! I did borrow the idea from a couple of other people, so it’s sort of an unofficial tag, I guess? Feel free to go for it!

Good to know! I recently sold this little pen, but I know they’re not too hard to come by. One day I will decide to delve into the vintage pen world!
Ron from Main Street Pens is one of the best in vintage pen restoration.
Thank you for that recommendation! I will look him up!
What a nice video format! Thank you so much for sharing, was really fun. :)
Thank you! 🥰 I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I am always here for this kind of content. ❤

Ok the rainbow ring, though! I love it and gots to have it

Yesss!! I filmed this the day before it was released! 🤫 I ordered one, too! Strictly business, you know. The people need a comparison. 😂
LOL the comparison will be much appreciated!
I think what sets Moonman apart are their demonstrator eyedroppers.
Yes! They have so many good ones. At one time I had about 4 moonman eyedropper pens.
