If anyone ever invents a time machine, my first request will be to go back and sneak into this concert. It must have been a fabulous once-in-a-lifetime experience!
Look at Doug Fieger's face around 1:14 - he's living his near-lifelong dream at that moment. He clearly says "Wow" when looking over the Carnegie Hall audience right before the camera cuts away.
I have mixed feeling for having viewed this. I love the music but hate getting old. In 1979 I was just 16.................. and now I just turned 50 *sob*
Yeah, I was 17 and will be 61 soon, but what great memories! If only I had known about the many other similar bands that didn't get this attention, like 20/20 whom I recently discovered.
Agree, you can see some points where he's just in amazement that he's actually playing in the famous Carnegie Hall. Had to be a dream come true for him and the rest of the band..
Interesting that Doug Fieger is playing a black Fender Stratocaster instead of his 1972 Sunburst Strat. My guess is that either he owned a black Stratocaster, or he rented/borrowed it from someone. Either way, it looks nice. Much of those guitars got auctioned off after Doug Fieger died in 2010. That Les Paul Berton is playing looks good too. RIP Doug Fieger RIP Bruce Gary
My first car in 1963 was a '55 Chrysler and what you said about the radio being turned up survives every generation...I first heard The Knack in '80 and thought they were great. RIP to the departed members.
I listen to this great music from the late 1970s, what a great band, and I am sadly reminded that lead singer Doug Fieger died at the all too young age of 57 from lung cancer on Feb. 14, 2000. Gone 15 years already. DAMN!
Bruce Gary can actually keep a beat and all his drum fills are legit One of the most under rated drummers ever Hello the beginning of My Sharona. And Number or your Name He almost is standing up when he plays He plays with passion and one of my inspirations as a drummer I was only 11 years old when Get the Knack came out and My Sharona one of the first songs I learned to play. RIP Bruce Gary
***** I forgot to give it thumbs down, so I just did now. The Knack suck at doing this song. Lame. Must be just close friends and family giving thumbs up and favorable support for this vid.
Buddy Holly sang the original version and Humble Pie did its own take of the song in 1969, but this cover by The Knack blows the former two out of the water by a mile. In fact, their version was so great you'd be forgiven if you thought theirs was the original. They practically OWN this song. (Sorry, Buddy)
Bruce Gary, one of the best drummers ever. R.I.P.
Can't disagree.
WOW!!! Yes, never realized just how good he was. He better than most that get raved about
Damn these guys looked like they were having the time of their lives rock and rolling!
If anyone ever invents a time machine, my first request will be to go back and sneak into this concert. It must have been a fabulous once-in-a-lifetime experience!
Every concert on that tour was just like this. I saw them in DC, probably within a week of this night, and it was truly amazing.
I hear that.
@@WesternBopcorrect! Milwaukee .. 4th row center 🎶🎶🎶🎵🎵🎶🎶🎵
These guys were great They remind me of The Who in their early days. They were fun and damn the critics, full speed ahead!
The Knack was freaking awesome and amazing. They definitely etched a deep mark in my history.
They were HUGE in '79...the endless summer..
Rest in peace, Bruce. You were really something else.
Doug Du warst der Beste . Ich schaue ihn sehr gerne zu. Viele liebe Grüße in den Himmel.
Gotta love the Knack.
Fucking classic cover, straight up RnR Baby
New Wave pop brought us some great drummers. Bruce Gary is right at the top.
Great band....tight, fun....Doug always looks like he's having a great time...and Mark never misses a lick....Love the Knack
Mark who?
Who the fuck is Mark?
@@straycatttt Right???
Mark?????....what Mark???
In 1979 we thought The Knack was bubble gum. But I forgot how fucking cool they were, miss the sound big time!!!
I and no-one else I knew thought that!

I've only found the knack after years of listening to my Sharona such a fun band to watch
Great album, awesome sounding vinyl. They wrote great songs and didn't try to make them all like "My Sharona".
This looks like so much fun. It didn't last real long but I'm glad they got their time at the top.
I have mixed feeling for having viewed this. I love the music but hate getting old. In 1979 I was just 16.................. and now I just turned 50 *sob*

UNO DE MIS GRUPOS FAVORITOS
A classic 🎼🎸🥁🎼
Love The Knack! One day there was My Sharona, all over the radio. Next day: Boom, they're gone!
Never mind the mainstream crticism. These guys were great performers and rock musicians.
Wow! That's blooming awesome!! ❤😊👌👍
To me they were the summer of '79!
After the endless disco, these guys broke the staleness of the airwaves
Them and Blondie, for me. Check, please.
@@hungfao Yes, I was gonna say something like that but you nailed it.
This video just proves to everyone the hardest working people in a band are the drummers
An album for resting your laurels on! Great one!
I got the Knack (on cassette tape) when they were new and hot, and I was14.
(I bought Dire Straits' Communique the same day.)
All time classic. The Knack were awesome. This goes out to my beloved one!

Brings me back to high school driving around in my first car when the radio turned up

Good groups good albums around this time period.
1978 3rd row center Gusmanhall Miami best ever! Tickets sold out in 2 hours
Bruce Gary destroyed the kit. Knack kicked serious ass and I play some kick ass music myself. The knack forever!

+blueslover61rd 2010, not 2000. And Bruce Gary in 2006. Both gone way too early.
Brain cancer, not lung cancer.
To all the people who rave about Keith Moon being the best ever drummer, take a look at the Knack's drummer!
Bruce Gary can actually keep a beat and all his drum fills are legit One of the most under rated drummers ever

Great version! Great live performance!
awesome band with great cover
Love it!!!!
Great version.
They had the good sense to include this on GetThe Knack - about the time that The Buddy Holly story had made The Crickets cool again
very,very good !!!! Luji-TAMÁSI
good song
aah yes, the influence of the late great buddy holly!
Love. My copy of Get the Knack has it, but not all versions do.
Lorelai Nokomis an album I treasure today...every track!
I think Doug Feiger moves in a similar way as Pete Townsend of the Who, his looks are similar too. Yes, No, None of these?
Budy Holy ,for ever.
Buddy Holly
It may not be to everyone's taste here but Hermans Hermits do a very good version of this song too. Check it out.

EXTRAODINARIA VERSION DEL TEMA DE BUDDY HOLLY. BRUCE GARY CON TAN POCO HACE DE TODO EN LA BATERIA.

The best band of all time by a mile.
La conozco por los hermans hermits
Buddy Holly.👍👍👍
2:04 is very Beatlesque
I have a feeling Buddy Holly would have loved this version.
They remind of of an early version of Weezer. Miss their music.
MSUSpartanFootball weezer are fans--they are great too
no way near buddy´s
Hey ken , my heart misses when u kiss me 💗
Calm down.
😂
The more I look at the singer the more he looks like Lionel Messi. 😂
Buddy Holly for ever this is a disgrace to his Name. 👎🇬🇧
I don't like that surfin' shit. Rock and roll's been going down hill ever since Buddy Holly died.
You don't think the Beach Boys are boss?
horrible version!!
This sucks. The Buddy Holly version is of course great.
The Knack have a lame image.
*****
NO, YOU go suck on your tool.
***** I forgot to give it thumbs down, so I just did now.
The Knack suck at doing this song. Lame. Must be just close friends and family giving thumbs up and favorable support for this vid.
***** Loozer bazooka, suck on your queer-tool avatar
image schmimage. this is rock and roll and both versions kick ass.
