Only a few hours of playing but I feel like they changed the way hitting items that are trailing players works. I've gotten away with a ton that usually would've hit, and you were surprised twice in this video too. Do we know if they changed that?

I wish one day nintendo add a knockout feature , I would really like to see a knockout tournament series from this game.
Would be possible with people just leaving rooms when eliminated though the point tally wouldn’t be reset so a new room may have to be created… yeah a lot of work for a knockout
I wish they added a Double Racer Mode as a reference to Double Dash
personally i’m on funky flame rider because come on, it’s the closest you can get to funky flamerunner
I am on funky comet just for inside drift funny moments
I’d use the Flame Rider as a substitute for the Wario Bike, I’d say the closest to the Flame Runner is the Comet with Monster tires
So, in terms of game balance changes, here's what I was able to find:
- No character stats were changed, and all new characters added in this update share stats with existing characters.
- The only stat that got changed for any vehicle parts in this update was invincibility, so the time trial meta should stay more or less the same.
- Pipe Frame, Varmint, and City Tripper all got buffed by +1 point in invincibility, which actually might be enough to push them into top spot on the meta now, especially since...
- Teddy Buggy and Inkstriker both saw a whopping -2 point nerf to invincibility, while Mach 8 and Sports Coupe saw a smaller -1 point nerf. Before this update, Teddy Buggy beat out Pipe Frame by 1 point in invincibility, but now, Pipe Frame beats it by 2 points. Definitely an attempt to push Teddy Buggy out of the meta, but time will tell whether or not it'll be enough.
- W25 Silver Arrow, Standard Bike, Flame Rider, and Wild Wiggler all got buffs to invincibility, and now all share an invincibility stat of 4 points, which is 1 point higher than the Pipe Frame. Will it be enough to push the Wild Wiggler back into the number one spot? Probably not, but it should at least close the gap a little.
- Streetle, Landship, and Comet also got +1 point buffs to invincibility, though I don't think that'll significantly change their place in the meta.
- All tires EXCEPT for Roller, Azure Roller, Off-Road, and Retro Off-Road got a +1 point buff to invincibility. It's clearly another attempt to indirectly nerf the Roller tires, but as with previous balance changes, I doubt it will be enough to knock them out of the top spot in the meta.

I always play Pipe-Frame/Rollers because I love the look but also try to use a good combo. What weight class is the best to use?
@@ppvc388 Yoshi's weight class is generally considered the best, though Luigi's weight class isn't far behind.
I don't mind if certain vehicle parts don't get knocked off the top spot in the meta, or raised out of the bottom spot. I feel like balancing shouldn't be about switching what's top tier with every update. So long as other combos feel closer to that top viability without necessarily beating the top, that's usually good enough to encourage some more variety.
Funky Kong is Heavy weight class (like dry bowser, wario); Pauline is Light Cruiser (like Rosalina, Link, King Boo), Diddy is Female Alt.??? weight class (like cat peach, inkling girl, female villager) and Peachette is Low Medium weight class (like Peach, Yoshi, Daisy, Birdo). Idk why did they put Diddy on that weight class, I feel like he should've been speedy (like Shy Guy, Toad, Larry), so we've a new light weight.
These weight classes are very good, so all of these characters are viable!!! Peachette belongs to the best weight class, the same as yoshi; Pauline is the second best belonging to the Cruiser class which has very good stats (like Yoshi but less mini turbo and more speed i think); at last we've Diddy and Funky which are viable but not meta, Diddy is medium weight but the worst medium weight class (female alt) and Funky belonging to the Dry Bowser weight class can be used for the fastest combo.

12:10 anyone else notice the giant amount of mushrooms? Troy kept pulling them and it looked like everyone near him got them too except first which got a coin as well. Is that due to the lag? If so thats kinda interesting and don't think I've ever seen that before in this game
Yeah, lag (or communication errors? idk) causes the item roulette to break down. It takes forever to get your items, and you always get coins in first, mushrooms in the middle spots, and triple mushrooms in the back, it seems like

Bagging is just as OP as it was before, just you can't park on the boxes. But it doesn't actually cost you much to collect the items, back up and drive into them again going forwards

You could instead to bag, collect a few mushrooms from the first set then drive ahead and get a better item or two at a further set. Cheese land is still gonna be the bullet bill hell it always was but gba mario circuit doesn’t have as many people going back at the start so it now plays like a somewhat normal track.
@@SunshineRey No one ever picks cheese land in high VR rooms because of bagging. Which is funny because I can't remember the last time I lost on cheese land despite me being one of the only ones who doesn't bag on that track

On Rosalina’s ice world, just before the water section: take the trick ramp on he left side just before it ends, and that will give you enough speed to make it onto the ice
Funny to think how Funky Kong had more than twice the amount of trick animations in the 15 years old game

use the left zipper instead of the right on rosa’s ice world! guarantees you to get on the top ice path

Hey troy! Nice video! On wii rainbow road, you can do it shroomless by going onto the half pipe on the right then you get the boost for the shortcut. Hope this helps!

Even Athens Dash does that on the first jump to the sloped stands of the arena
and DK Jungle Parkway on Wii did it too, it landed you on the turn aha!
There are more examples I cant think of now
yea athens dash one is blind (city tracks have a few instances of this) but parkway is very clear on where to go while you slowly move thru cannon

Pauline is my new main in this game and i play the comet and the pipeframe with her using the rollers and cloud glider. Such fun combos and both have amazing stats
This little room change is such a good feature, means streamers dont have to set up a whole damn tournament just to play with fans LOL
I hope to see more MK8 on this channel soon enough. And I would assume it's normal for the servers to go slow and give roulette lag since everyone is joining today to try out the new tracks.

For Rosalina’s ice world if you take the left halfpipe you can make the top every time at least it’s worked for me

We went from Funky riding a badass bike in Bowser's likeness to a teddy-bear and Bibbybud-shaped buggy. How the meta has changed... And you wanna know the most ironic part? The (Dry?) Bowser-shaped ATV isn't even among the best vehicles for him.

Funky Kong lost the Flame Runner, but got a super dope surfboard
Guys I found a new shortcut on piranha plant cove. When you first go in the water there is a patch of off road with coral in it. However, the orange circle coral has a hitbox, so you can drive of it and skip the corner. It’s even easier with the water physics.

12:21 It's not about Nintendo's servers. It's about if someone's internet connection is bad or not. Nintendo has already spend money on a better server in the past. Also Masahiro Sakurai himself recommended to use an ethernet cable to play Smash and other Nintendo games online since wireless connections can get pretty funky (See what I did there? 😎)

Im overall happy with the new balance of the game, but i have to admit im still disappointed that its always the "silly" or "childlike" karts that become meta. It just feels unfortunate that the fast looking bikes, sports cars, and tires are not as useful because of how mini turbo works

I actually would like coins as an item if they stopped showing up in the roulette when you have 10 coins. I mean, once you have 10 coins, they're useless, so why do we still get them? It would be more rewarding to keep your coin count maxed out if you get better items, just from the sheer lack of the coin item in your roulette. I reckon there'd be some interesting strategy out of that.

It is more BS than the blue shell especially when you are about to use the mushroom for a last minute shortcut at the end and a safe 1-4 turns into 9-12. Not to mention most times when you use the item it only steals weaker items that will barely help the current situation. Only amnesty is dodging the shock

biggest misses on wave 6 are no Airship Fortress, Dry Dry Ruins, 3ds Bowser's Castle and also not being able to do 96 straight races and have a 5 hour mario kart 8 deluxe gauntlet

I checked which stats match for all four new characters
