Great watch mark you didn’t get the shot of me with me guns out 😂😂😂,would of been great to stop and chat but rids going all night catch up soon for a session
Hi Mark I was the fisherman up by the car park on the same night. Didn’t know it was you 😂😂 nice video mate we were using bigger baits only a small Smooth Hound for us. 👍
Funny you should say that we was heading to Chesil Friday night and then changed to Southbourne let me know Mark about Chesil just getting back into the beach fishing again. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Ian, I nearly chopped the footage of the wires slips but watching it back it had me laughing so I left it in. Next time I'll change the angle so you can enjoy the comedy of trying to scoop one out of the bucket. 😂 They all went back strong which is always good to see.
It was out of necessity when I realised I didn’t have the right rigs with me and limited terminal tackle. It worked well though. 👍🏻 I wish I had filmed that better and showed it close up.
Great vid Mark.... Always love the variety and surprises southbourne throws up. Haven't been there in a while so maybe time to have another session there
It is fishing well atm when everywhere seems to be quite poor. Pretty special spending a summers evening on a Sandy beach and a bonus when there are fish showing. 🎣👍🏻
Weed is quite strong there atm and it is big tides, it does look better later in the week and hopefully the weed will have flushed through. I might see you there. 😉
Loved this video, nice to have a scratching session and see what turns up! Thanks for highlighting the rigs used, look forward to seeing how you tie yours up. Take care, tight lines.
Mark a great video well done a cracking species night you had. I was moderating Fishing Dorset Live TH-cam Channel. He was in the next bay from you. That was a brilliant session by all well done. Congratulations on hitting 5k subscribers well deserved 👍👊
I think we all had a decent night and the weather was an absolute bonus. The choice of species always makes for an interesting session as you never know what’s coming in next and we had some nice surprises. Thank you for the kind words and look forward to seeing you out on the beach sometime. 👍🏻🎣
It turned into a bit of a social event with so many anglers there, nice to catch up with others. Magical when the weather is that nice and you can fish bare foot in the sand. 🎣🎣
A great fun fishing session Mark👍. Looks like you’ve got the perfect weather for it. No fishing for me on holiday, but I’m making up for it eating lots of french seafood. Tight lines Bruv X
Happy holidays! It looks like you've picked the right time to go and I hope you are all having an amazing time, we miss France. Boat is prepped and ready for when you get back.
Hi mark you ok mate, enjoyed the vid as uze. Well done on your catch and of course well done on hitting 5k subs. All the best from the north east Grimsby.
Nice session mate. Great little mix of fish. I was in the same spot the day after. Hard going until the sun when down then couldn't keep up. Sole, plaice and Gurnard for me. Shame I wasn't there the day before, missed a lot of TH-camrs Well done on the 5k 👌
It certainly seems like one of only a few places fishing well atm although smaller tides and reduced weed will unlock a few other local marks this weekend. 🤞🏻 There were cameras as far as the eye could see. 😂🎣🎣🎣
Nice session Mark. Sometimes it's just nice to get out and relax catching a range of fish rather than targeting the bigger ones. Love those gurnard. Fish hunter had a Southbourne video last night, and, like yourself, had a good variety of species. Looks like the place to be. Congratulations on your 5k. Deserved. A nice session. Thanks for sharing. Take care and stay safe.😷🙊
Cheers Ian, I’m going to watch the Fish Hunter video tomorrow. I’m out again tonight down at Warsash. The 5k came round quick and is very much appreciated.
@@seaangling I appreciate the time and effort you put in Mark. Thanks, and I'm sure the channel will continue to grow. Will Google where your at. Have a great night mate. I look forward to the video. Take care and stay safe.😷🙊
@@seaangling Yeah a few hounds and a nice tub Gurnard on the boat. Very pretty. Bit of weed but got completely weeded out on my next session from the beach.
It is one of my favourites for the diversity of species available although cleaning up the sand after a session can be a pain. You are blessed to have this on your doorstep. 🎣👍🏻
@@seaangling yup! Learnt this. Went out for the first time in decade’s, usually just a little spinning but plenty fly fishing. Inherited an old beach set up but top ring broke after a couple hours. But guess what, the bugs bitten again so on the look out for a nice light weight set up for Southbourne. Any recommendations welcome x
@@vespa1661 depending on your budget but I would keep an eye on Facebook market place. If you wanted to go new a continental setup works well at Southbourne.
@@seaangling Cheers Mark, thats what i was thinking, i've got an half decent reel and will look into continental set up as think that will suit me as i quite like fishing light and Southbourne is not like the Bristol channel. Thanks for getting back to me though, helpfull advice. I'll catch up on your other uploads too...
@@vespa1661 a continental rod has the benefit of being long and light and can be stood vertical in a sand spike. These aspects make it perfect for keeping a rod tip high with the Southbourne gully and swell.
It was part of the reason to target the smaller stuff and see what the bite detection was like. It is surprisingly good for a heavier rated rod compared to others.
Hi Mark Thanks for the video. I am a total noob to sea fishing and have not fished from a beach yet. In the video you say i think you are fishing at 40-60 meters. I noticed a white buoy , could you in relation to the buoy say the distance it is at. Lastly could you tell a budget tripod that will not break the bank (unemployed due to health ) but will last. Keep up the vids there great Oh i would be fishing the Solent area Portsmouth way
The Icon tripods are strong, light and reasonably priced. There are 2 ways to find out your distance until you get used to judging it for yourself. Your reel will tell you how much line per wind is recovered, simply count your turns as you wind in. There are rings on your spool that help to relate how much line has left the reel. To work out how much each ring is simply run your line around 2 sticks that are a measured distance apart and keep wrapping until you reach a ring. You will now know how much line has left the reel to reach that ring.
Hi Mark Thanks for the heads up on tripods. The biggest drawback to buying one in the UK is the freight cost t Australia. However, Amazon may have the answer to this and that is to import direct from China. Will investigate further. As for using an oil based bait it is a minefield of conflicting ideas. Berkley are quite positive that fish cannot detect oil based molecules and therefore that any oil based attractant is useless. Their patents (and you can look them up) are all about using water soluble attractants which sets up a scent trail. In the end I think its a case of what works for you. I have created my own bait attractant based on known fish attractants, a carrier (I use propylene glycol which is water soluble and acts as a preservative) and a guar gum as a thickener. Additionally I have added three amino acids but the quantity is critical. When put together this releases the bait scent. You can buy all this stuff quite easily as it is nearly all used by body building freaks. I'll leave it there but if you want more details or more reading matter let me know and I'll give you the references. I think you would be astounded at the amount of research which has been carried out particularly in Asia. Cheers Alan H

The “Golds” range of tripods and their many variants seem to be the overall favourite here in the UK. I will update you when I get more detail but the powder was cheap and unbranded.
