copyright had made me delete a few clips(even tho it’s been 2 years lmao) so this is no longer 4 minutes but 3 minutes of eloise being an iconic character 😭👍🏻
Nothing made me laugh more than when Francesca asked if she was coming to have a look at the baby😂😂. My girl said “Has it changed since the last time?” 😂
I was shocked to hear her real age. I legit thought she was maybe 21 or 22 at most! I read she was in her 30s and my jaw dropped. She passes for a teenager so easily!
Am I the only one who liked the relationship between Eloise and Theo? I know it's not in the book, but after Kate and Anthony I was watching this series to see Eloise and Theo. I believe their relationship could make a beautiful story in addition to being almost impossible to happen at that time. Now, after these two, I can't imagine her with Sir Philip anymore.
I know everyone LOVED Eloise and Theo, but I read that Julia Quinn sold the rights to her books under a few contingencies; one being that all book couples are endgame. (Are we still using that term or has Riverdale ruined it, by the way? lol) I know that's a major disappointment to many, so I hope Eloise and Sir Phillip have excellent chemistry that changes our minds!
Eloise and Benedict are my favorite characters. Eloise is adventurous and sarcastic, and Benedict is unintentionally funny. Their seasons are probably going to be the best.
i love the scene in 0:22 where lord bebrooke came and eloise is just “oh shit.” and daphne grabs eloise’s hands tighter signaling her to stay and she just “yeah no i think im staying” but the mom’s like “no u have to go.” so she reluctantly lets go of daphne’s hand and just looks at her, like silently saying “im wishing u the best of luck sister.”
"you must otherwise how can we be sure it never happens to us?!" This is funny because of her delivery but incredibly sad to be reminded of how left in the dark women were in that time about their bodies and sex. The fact they weren't told how one gets pregnant while trying to get them married and pregnant is sick.
2 ปีที่แล้ว +13
That part is not historically accurate. There were even books on how to make girls "aware", so in reality, they weren't clueless about sex & pregnancy. But it does provide great comedy scenes 😃
@ I'm not sure what year the show is set in as I've only ever watched clips of both seasons, really need to actually watch the show lol, but even if it's not historically accurate here,we do know there was a time where this was the case and women were kept in the dark.
2 ปีที่แล้ว +11
@@perfectlyimperfect2368 It's set in 1813-14. And I agree, keeping girls and young women in the dark is horrible.
By the time it's her story in the book, she is actually more knowledgeable about it than Daphne was. She and Francesca actually paid the maids to learn more.
@ The idea that all women of the time were ignorant is false, but it probably also depends on the family/mother as to how much a daughter is informed, and it definitely wouldn't be talked about in front of men, even if they are her brothers. I got the impression that it was Violet's awkwardness on explaining the subject that resulted Daphne's ignorance, but Kate doesn't seem ignorant before she sleeps with Anthony (but that may also be because of her medical interest). Heck, even in this age I'm the one who gave my cousin the sex talk cause her mother and her school's sex-ed taught her nothing - her disgusted face at the idea of a penis entering a person was wild, but she truly had no idea how pregnancy happened beyond that it happened to married people and people who kiss for too long
I can, I find that she thinks she's so self-important and anyone else is wrong if they disagree with her. It's my opinion but she's the character I hate the most in the serie.
@@Yomamaveryphat Not in my opinion, most of the time she's just mean for free... You should watch Friendly Space Ninja video about Bridgerton, I completely agree with his analysis of eloise.
This Eloise is so youthful and fun- I really hope she ends up with Theo instead of Sir Philip's boring ass, but that's just the optimist in me. ALSO THE QUEEN THOUGH??? BADASS
The ladies of this show absolutely make this worth watching. Violet, Eloise, Portia, Philippa, Prudence, Penelope, Madame Delacroix, the Queen and the other queen, Lady Danbury have the BEST lines and give the best performances. I'd have to say Lady Danbury is probably my favorite of the ladies (she WILL cut you!), followed by Portia Featherington and then Eloise.
There is a moment during the first episode of a tv series, where you just KNOW it's going to be a good series. Eloise screaming "Daphnayyy!! You MUST make haste!" was the moment I knew Bridgerton was going to be iconic.
Saw interviews of Claudia Jessie she is the perfect Eloise, so similar to her character a real comedian, her and Nicola Coughlan perfect friendship just as their characters. Would love to see them in a comedy. Petfect casting. Seen her in Vanity Fair indeed very good actress.
Thank you....finally...beautiful...Eloise we can't praise you enough...for me Eloise& Pen are true icons...I hope they find back to their trust&realize the great womance they actually always had/have💜💖💜
In Theo they finally found a character who could challenge Eloise and make her grow as a character. Truly if they allow this to simply pass as a mere footnote they are sacrificing what could be a goldmine of a storyline! Elopement, social class, women's rights in early 19th century Britain, and how those who are proponents of "true love" are truly tested when that love is between Eloise and someone who works for a living vs the nobility... the possibilities are endless. Benedict as well is involved with women from the working classes so he especially should understand what she is experiencing.
Am I the only one that doesn’t really like Eloise? From season one by how she treated Daphne I got a bad vibe from her. She would say some kind of backhanded remark at Daphne for giving into societal standards and putting her down for it, and making Daphne feel bad. It was just the little things like that, but I often got the impression that Eloise looked down on women like Daphne and other women who are trying to fit the mold their society constructed for them, because they don’t really have another choice. And Eloise doesn’t even realize that Daphne had to make a good marriage to secure good future prospects for the rest of her sisters. Eloise doesn’t have to share this same kind of responsibility. This just shows that Eloise is willing to judge other women without even knowing the circumstances they are in. And then with season two with how Eloise treated Penelope I don’t know it just gives me this ick. Eloise has so much privilege and she doesn’t even realize it, which makes her come off as ignorant at times. But I think that if she can acknowledge this privilege and learn from it, she can really come into her own. I don’t hate her character I just think she’s flawed, but with a lot of potential to grow. It just bothers me seeing her behavior celebrated, as I don’t think she’s really someone people should look up to. Her actions/beliefs aren’t in any way brave or trailblazing. Sure she has strong opinions and is intelligent, but this is all coming from a place of privilege and security. She thinks she would never actually get into serious trouble for saying a few things as she comes from an important family. And she never goes farther than just saying some empty words with no intent of actually acting on them(well, most of the time at least) (Sorry for ruining the vibe of this comment section. This is really a good point. And I think this is also one of the angles that Eloise can grow from. But we have to admit it, somebody have to say what Eloise was saying. Her background for me does not matter, what I hear are her ideas and what she fights for, the empowerment of women.
I agree with some parts of what you said but I think with her ridiculing that man she danced with in s2 for speaking poorly of other women kinda displaces some of the sort of “pick me” “not like other girls” energy you’ve pointed out. She’s young and still learning how to express her ideas a lot of the time. I think it’s clear that while she does say some rude remarks to Daphne, it mostly comes from a place of her insecurities and displeasure at having to follow in her footsteps. I hated the Pen x Eloise storyline this season, the whole reason she found out was because she listened to Pen speak exactly one time???
I feel the same way. I do like Eloise but I also dislike her sometimes. For the exact reason you stated. I felt sorry for Daphne whenever she says those things but then also get frustrated with Daphne for not doing more for herself. Knowing and understanding the social construct of the time and the burden Daphne felt made me empathise with her but still wished she was more than just a mother and wife. She's accomplished, but her accomplishments weren't born out of interest but of the need to find a good match. As I've not read the books I cannot comment if she was any different in the books but that was my gripe with Daphne's character. For Eloise, I believe because she is alot closer to myself, someone who wants to do more and achieve dreams, that I do give her leeway. I do hope though that her character grows alot more and comes to understand why Daphne and her mother and Penelope are who they are.
