Well, this is what he’s supposed to look like. In BotW, he hadn’t finished fully forming yet at the time you entered the Sanctum. You forced him to leave his cocoon early.
The backstory for Breath of the Wild is one of the most depressing ones in recent gaming history. The heroes do everything possible to prepare for a threat they know is coming, and in the end, all despite their prep time, they barely manage to survive, losing countless lives, their heroes, and their kingdom as a result. The only thing that tops it IMO is Horizon: Zero Dawn.

Walking into this guy on Hard Mode with limited hearts and no rod ammo was a painful, painful experience.
dude the same. i only had half a heart left with Link, Impa, and King Rhoam, and four hearts for Zelda facing Ganon Hard Mode. Also, I kept screaming at Zelda on the second to last fight, "fucking help me out", because I've used up all of my rods and healing items.

unrelated but who cares, ima tell the entire story of my journey through this game
first off i got the demo, i grinded my ass off and got link to level 23, then cranked the difficulty to very hard. then i played death mountain, and got hit with the fact that very hard, is, in fact, very hard. nevertheless i just kept going until i turned it down to hard mode after i kept getting spanked in air and lightning, then i walked into calamity ganon with very low sidequest characters, got spanked, killed him, end of game, it is now decaying in my cartridge box
I love playing as Impa, she was so innovative.
They could give Impa her own game and I would buy it in a heartbeat.

This game is essentially another timeline split, just like how some games happens whether Link dies in OoC or Lives, this game is a timeline where they seal Calamity Ganon on one fell swoop instead of failing then needing link.
The descendants assumingly come from the timeline where Hyrule fell, aka Breath of the Wild. They simply go back to said timeline once the game ends.
TLDR: This is Hyrule Warriors again, but with just Breath of the Wild split into two timelines instead of having multiple ones happening at once.

@@novustalks7525 What the original poster meant is that this game, timeline-wise, is by no means a prequel of the original Breath of the Wild; it is an alternative timeline caused by Terrako's time travel and him bringing the champions from the future, which is the whole reason why the champions did not die in Age of Calamity even though they did die in Breath of the Wild.

They never found his real body in age of calamity. So, botw still gonna happen. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if the outcome is now a worse fate for everyone due the actions of saving the cast in this specific timeline of events.
I find something eerie about Terrako getting back up after being demolished by Link. There’s something unsettling about his effectively dead body getting back up...
I see as him sensing that his friends are in trouble. And in his last moments, he was DETERMINED to get up and help them one last time.
THIS IS SUCH AN EPIC FINAL BATTLE!!! I was so hyped when the phase 2 theme hit!! Truly the best Warriors game I ever played and I played a BUNCH of them!!
Seconds after this last cutscene Calamity Ganon breaks free and goes on a murderous rampage, killing everyone, totaling everything. Link's nearly dead. Zelda brings him to the shrine of resurrection.

Actually, not really. Age of Calamity (as far as I'm aware) is the only game that'll feature this timeline. This is purely a what-if scenario I believe. Link and Zelda would be really old if botw 2 took place 100 years after age of Calamity.
This hyrule still has a ganon underground to worry about so hopefully we can warn them in TOTK

I see that a lot of people are confused about the timeline thing, just to make things clear, Zelda Age of Calamity is in fact an alternate universe from BotW, meaning that this game is not really a prequel from BotW. I know that Nintendo said it was 100 years ago but if it actually was the champions wouldn't have survived.

let me see if I understood it well, I only saw the start, this ending, and of course BOTW:
-E G G travels back to the past(before Age of Calamity, let's call it year zero) from when the Age of Calamity hits its peak(year one)
-apparently E G G finds a way to bring the descendants of the Champions from after Link wakes up(year three, just an assumption) back to between year zero and one
-everyone fights together to finish the Calamity right at year one, to avoid everyone dying/becoming trapped into Ganon/hibernating, thus creating a new timeline
huh, this is good, I now just really want to know if the descendants came before or after the destruction of Ganon on their own timelines, and also if they vanished out of thin air at the end or if they got sent back to their own timeline/universe

They came after. It’s basically a Future Trunks situation, they came to help from their own future and returned back to their own time (BOTW) with their task done.
The champions came back after botw which is why In botw they don’t mention the time travel

Super Saiyan Ganon was NOT playing games.
I kinda feel like the champions could have done a bit more in these cutscenes. Like what if instead of Link somehow parrying an entire staircase you had Duruk cover Zelda with his forcefield? This would make more sense as well as making good use of character abilities. Or maybe... I dunno you could have Zelda blind Gannon long enough for Ravali to land an effective hit on him or maybe you could have some kind of payoff to Mipha working to get stronger... My point is, don't make 80% OF THE PARTY DO NOTHING DURING THE FINAL BOSS!!!

I think the master sword was to defeat ganon and then zelda had to seal him away and zelda cant seal ganon unless he is defeated. And yes i know this was 3 weeks ago but why not.

@@XSRVX_01 No, it was to seal Demise, not Ganon. This battle is literally no different from Ocarina of Time. Link defeats and weakens Ganon with the Master Sword, Zelda uses her power to seal him. The end.

@@Ray-xd9oy Oh I don't know. They did said that Ocarina of Time took place during the Imprisoning War in A Link to the Past's backstory. You know, the war that said Ganon got the whole Triforce instead of the Triforce of Power and the final battle saw the near extinction of the Knights of Hyrule as they defend the Seven Sages from Ganon's army so they can seal Ganon away?

I tried doing “reflect equipment” but it always showed that cutscene with the master sword.
The cutscene replaces your equipment with the Master Sword if your using Flails, Claymores or Spears... Which sucks because imagine how cool it would be to slice Gannon in half with a Royal Guard's Claymore.

@JB no it wasn’t. It was designed to show what happened during the war 100 years before BOTW happened. It was supposed to build up our attachment to the champions and the other characters despite knowing they were going to die. And then it just all retcons itself here.

All the development and character we see from Mipha and her love for Link, or Urbosa and her maternal feelings towards Zelda. They mean nothing. Urbosas “100 years in the making” comment before reassuring Zelda that victory would arrive means nothing now bc AOC is now an entirely different timeline. The Urbosa from BOTW is not the same as AoC Urbosa. It makes all the development these characters got in AoC moot bc it was always an alternate timeline and not a prequel, as it was advertised
@JB yeah and AOC completely detracts from BOTW. Bc now all the attachment you feel to the champions, all of Zeldas insecurities, it’s all in AOCs timeline, not BOTWs timeline.
Zeldas “so I really am just a failure. The entire kingdom. I left them all to die” memory in BOTW didn’t happen in AOC so we don’t have that moment of Zelda breaking down into Links arms. We don’t have Zelda despising link bc she sees him as a reminder of her failures. We don’t have Zelda standing in the spring begging to the goddess “what is wrong with me?!” Because she can’t awaken her power. We don’t get that in AOC bc all the development that happened in BOTW gets invalidated by AOC, since they didn’t lose the war.
The whole point in the BOTW timeline was supposed to be that they DID lose the war. That despite their preparations they still failed, and AOC was supposed to show that.

Can someone explain how and when the champions die? I am confused because the clip people show for their deaths, they all ended up being saved. When did they die before BOTW’s story?
this game takes place in an alternate timeline where Terrako (the little egg shaped guardian) brought in the champions descendants from BoTW to save the past champions from their deaths. So, the scenes that showed them almost dying WAS where they were supposed to die if it were to follow BoTW's timeline. (I know, it's very confusing stuff, but, that's nothing new to the series. xD)

Im not saying that i don’t like that ending BUT i kind of would have preferred if they didn’t change the outcome and really counted the story of what happened or even changed it to make it seem as if there was hope but ultimately ends the same

Ok. So ive wrapped up the entire timeline. If you are to play zelda games, you must use one of six timelines. You can look up the timeline on nintendo. But this game explains why sozin is still young as a zoro in botw, and how others that werent supposed to die died and were sent to other universe to live another life with the same memories. Zelda kinda has a history of messing up time

The ending does not match the fight with Ganon 100 years before the events of Breath of the wild because the champions would be dead in the divine beasts and king roahm would of died in the castle of malice and rubble of hyrule castle. impa would be fleeing to kakariko village because of the guardians and link should of been put into the Shrine of resurrection after trying to flee to hateno village. Zelda would have gone to hyrule castle to contain ganon from destruction of the world.
But we really don’t know, at least I dont. Maybe this wa alternate reality where link and Zelda seals ganon away but to theory it does not work

I think I read somewhere in the Creating a Champion artbook, that it was an observatory.
The bottom of the wall is decorated with a landscape of Hyrule, which serves as an orientation when looking at the stars projected onto the ceiling.

Right before the New Champions intervene through a time portal. They originally perished at the hands of the Blight Ganons, and the game shows you how it would have originally played.
Urbosa got sliced in half, Mipha got crushed, Ravali got noscoped and Duruk got hit with a fireball.
