you inspired me to keep a permanent quick note with recurring daily tasks / thoughts / goals. Not major tasks and goals, just simple things, like chores, read this book, finish this article, work on this chapter, etc. instead of keep a 365 notes a year, ima just refresh the same one over and over, and keep it as a widget on my Iphone, and mac desktop. I dont want to re-invent the wheel by making notes just another Reminders app. Theres already an app for reminders. I just want my daily note to be a "hot-note." It gets updated on the daily, and can also serve as a place to write my thoughts, and updates as the day progresses.
Yes... this. Long time mac/ios user and I'm trying to figure out the formatting to get this setup. (I've used GTD for many, many years and this is a great adjunct to that thinking.)
Please do a video walking through your set up (thanks for the short cuts) I’m just having a hard time getting the links to work with the systems you set up
Pro tips you could also record everything in Apple’s Reminders via Siri via Apple Watch and drag and drop tasks into your priority template. I don’t use a desktop and this formula works for me.
Thanks. I'm convinced a perfect system doesn't exist, so probably the best thing to do is pick one that covers 80% of your needs. And stick to it (which is by far the most difficult thing!)
Good question. I carry forward the "not to do" items, but not the "done" items. This way, I have a track record of what I completed on a given day, together with any closure notes.
@ I am thinking about using your framework along with the ideas in Forever ✱ Notes. I am also trying to be more analog. I am guilty of digital overload ( tried and trying, obsidian, evernote, devonthink, omnifocus and others ) So far going back to analog shows the most promise.
Great Idea and something I will implement immediately. Quick question. How do you get the colored sections in the notes. Your headers to each dropdown?
probably not an "easy" way, but the best I can think of is 1) copy the link the the slack message 2) select the text of the message in Slack and drag it into apple notes 3) highlight the text, hit CMD-K and paste the link.
I really like this but how do you handle repeated tasks? i have several things that repeat weekly/monthly/yearly and not sure how I would integrate them into this system.
The easiest thing is probably to schedule those repeated tasks in your diary; then treat them like any other meeting or calendar event, scheduling your 3 daily tasks around them
Of course I can’t leave well enough alone and I’m trying to figure out a shortcut that will make a new note automatically daily, but pull from a Master List note that I update weekly 😂
Many of my tasks become notes while I tackle them. In each note, I jot down thoughts, add comments, perform calculations, write down decision elements etc. And I then store the note to document how the task was completed. Reminders would be great at keeping a list of tasks, but wouldn't allow any documentation..
Kanban is basically notes but with columns :) Jokes aside, see how a little shift in perspective changes the potential usefulness of a system... Some people resonate with one or the other, it's just a very personal choice
I often take lots of notes while completing my tasks, and that's where Apple Notes shines. And at the end of the process, I keep those notes as a reminder of what was done, how and why. (for example, on occasion I perform long analysis before making a decision - all of that I can document in a note). So I guess the Note, to me, is the key element.

thanks! I'm glad you find it useful 👍
Man, you are changing the game, keep up with the content!!!
Thanks! 👍
I confirm you are a Master Ninja in Apple Note
Thanks 😂 🥷
Love your Priority Portal system. Could you please do a video with details of how to set it up in Apple Notes?
Yes... this. Long time mac/ios user and I'm trying to figure out the formatting to get this setup. (I've used GTD for many, many years and this is a great adjunct to that thinking.)
thanks for your interest! stay tuned for a video on formatting options! 👍

This is actually the best video I have ever found on TH-cam.
thanks 👍

Interesting suggestion. I've also thought about using notes instead of reminders, but I'm still unsure. Both have advantages and disadvantages …

At the end of each day when you duplicate today to create tomorrow - do you continually carry forward the done and deleted items?
Good question. I carry forward the "not to do" items, but not the "done" items. This way, I have a track record of what I completed on a given day, together with any closure notes.

Some great ideas!!
Thank you! 😊
i’d like to know how you managed to center the text. I can’t seem to find that option.
@billanderson6961 Highlight the text, hit the Aa button for Formatting options
Great Idea and something I will implement immediately. Quick question. How do you get the colored sections in the notes. Your headers to each dropdown?
Sorry for my english i’m french
Select the text then choose « Aa » section and you will see the color menu
PS : With ios 18
Yes. I know but if you look at his video they sent just color highlighted. They are way more detailed
@@robertsonnemann-jb9ok
Yes i see. Sorry
Hi, thanks! It's highlighted text, formatted as subheading (so they can be collapsed). More color options for the text are available on Mac.
We use Slack A LOT - do you know any (easy) way to add a slack message to your task list in apple notes & have it link to the slack message?
probably not an "easy" way, but the best I can think of is 1) copy the link the the slack message 2) select the text of the message in Slack and drag it into apple notes 3) highlight the text, hit CMD-K and paste the link.
Can you please explain in more detail how you get to copy a link of the email to Apple Notes . I could not manage to get it to work. Thank you .
do you mean on Mac or iPhone?

Why don't you just just Reminders app? What is superior about Notes that we don't have in Reninders?

so basically a kanban but with notes

Not sure I understand why you’re using Notes, not Reminders. Grateful if you’d explain, please. 😊

@@Patrick-NP Got it, thanks. 😃
