Love this video. Happy to see the surroundings. And an always welcome reminder of how much great music is buried … cheers to channels like yours and Noble (and many others) for spreading the word.
Something about this seems like a noble gesture and the people walking in the backround can definitely sense the guy in the orange shirt is passionate, proud, and informative, I respect that
Good job, brother. The way you hit the streets for music history is how I do with art history. But as my art career slows down, I've gotten more into music than ever. I have you to thank for part of that. And I'm from Austin! We have our own history. I'm gonna delve deeper in that.
Great video with cool info. I love that Brown Acid series and own all 18 volumes. All so good. So fantastic when that Farm album was reissued. Head East! Yes! Cheers.
Thank you for your hometown passion. I don’t know a lot about garage and psychedelic rock beyond “Nuggets” and a few Massachusetts bands, but it’s interesting to hear about the more obscure bands.
Love that Ilmo Smokehouse - drummer's playing double kick on that one! Another Quincy, Il band is Thunderpussy, who almost plays a proto-progressive metal from 73.
Great on site video! I checked out that site you mentioned and that Aardvarks group has my interest. Also, I never new that fact about the Head East album.
Thank you for all the work you did in this video. I found it really cool getting a rock n roll guided tour around St. Louis. I mean we even get a corn field! What is more rock n roll than a corn field?! ;)
Fun stroll thru some cool regional music history. Lotta good bands from there, even if you don’t count jazz…and you don’t. Checking out Golden Voice studio doc tonight.
Great vid Robert! I know of two things that will remove that sticker. Naptha (ask you local hardware store ), or Zippo lighter fluid. I would start by testing a small area on an edge or in the gatefold and then use a Q-tip to gently and slowly work that sticker off. I'm sure theres a vid here somewhere. I work in a high end custom framing company in Chicago, so I aint blowing smoke. Thanks again.
@@RobertFithen It should not. That's why you should try an inconspicuous spot first. Am guessing you have other records with price tags. Try a couple of those first. It will re-activate the adhesive, so it will loosen it up for removal, and then you need to clean up the remaining adhesive. Careful not to spread it around.
cool video, just what I needed after a very busy day. Also screw goo gone, I just use vegetable oil to get rid of stickers on plastic or glass, lol, of course that wouldn't work on record covers unless you wanted a big oil stain.
i love back jack and riding easy also got into guerssen they put out so many records that normal copies run hundreds, i also got farm from them. im glad some labels are making the albums reasonable to obtain. great video.
Wow, that Touch l.p. is really rare. I never thought I'd see an actual vinyl original. I have the Gear Fab c.d. reissue which has plenty of bonus material included but still very pale next to your original. I didn't know it came in a gatefold sleeve either! Cool. I also have the Arkama vinyl reissue of Ilmo Smoke House which, as you say, was released as a double l.p. with a whole album of extra tracks. Its probably the version you want for all that additional music but don't spend too much. Theres lots of other groups mentioned here that I've not heard of so plenty more to check out. Great informative video and some nice St. Louis locations featured too. Thanks Robert.
Vintage Vinyl for the WINNN! I bought a Chet Atkins disc there in, like, 1999 after chomping some toasted ravioli or something & anyhow I swear that store looks *exactly* the same 🤔🤔🤔
Soak stickers in cigarette lighter fluid. It evaporates fast so you have to keep it wet until you can lift the edges. Don’t worry about staining, even though it looks like it will discolor the cover once it dries completely it disappears. Just don’t put the record back until it dries for a day or so.
"Hey, Hey - see that kids? That's the St. Louis Arch, the Gateway to the West. It's over 600 feet tall and there's an elevator all the way to the top. That's sixty stories to you and me." "Wow Dad, can we go up on it?" "nope." ..... "That's the mighty Mississip. The old Miss. The Old Man. Deeeeep River..."
Fun fact: When "Vacation" was first released to theaters, they went by the Arch before encountering East St. Louis. This wouldn't happen if they were travelling west. In the later home videos versions, the sequence was corrected.
Why do I have a feeling the other guys from Suburban 9 To 5 ended up in the suburbs working 9 to 5? Not that I am against that. I just love the irony, should it exist. I love learning about these lost gems. The Touch was an incredible find, wow.
Glad to see you back to full health -As wonderful as you is, a man who can talk about music I'm not interested in and still be entertaining, I'm starting to tire of these obscure record reviews...can you take us through the most politically incorrect records in your collection or summat?
Thanks for the shout out Robert! Great video!
Thanks for the excellent channel and all of the great music.

Austin has such a rich music history.
St. Louis looks pretty cool
🎉mindblown.🎉
Off to look at these 45s. Highly doubt i will find any here. But the knowledge is valuable alone. Thanks Robert.
The guitar on Mustache In Your Face melted my mustache off my face! Thanks for the informative tour Robert!
It's stellar
Your last video steered me to this one. St Louis is lucky to have you showing off this great music city. Nice job.
Thanks!! Glad you checked it out.

Robert Fithen in the wild!
Hanging out with He Who Walks Behind The Rows

I've got to check out Thunderpussy!

What if the cover is not glossy or matted? This is a paper-finish cover. Won't it leave an oily residue?

Absolutely! Albums that, before, I could only dream about owning.
Just heard My Ding A Ling by Chuck & Strokin by Clarence Carter back to back on the oldies station. Funny that both songs were hits.
Very nice scenery have only been by the Arch a few times

I will definitely be getting that "and More" version of Ilmo Smokehouse.

🤔🤔🤔
Looks the same as I remember it in the 90s.
Great video
Might try a hairdryer on that green sticker, but at that age it might not work
My copy of R.E.M.’s Radio Free Europe from ‘81 has the same issue.
I had to get out my binoculars for the opening shot.
Solid takeaway
Cool video, feed your head!

Has anyone heard of a St. Louis band called Austin Trotter Bill Safron was the drummer . I have been searching for him since I moved out away Thanks!
Looks like their music is only available digitally and they don't have a physical release.
@@RobertFithen Thanks!

🧐
Marty McFly does the best version of Johnny B. Goode.
Have you seen the TH-cam where a guitarist plays what Fox is miming so you can hear what it would actually sound like?
Was that the restaurant where Chuck Berry put cameras in the lady’s room? I’d try a hair dryer on the sticker.
No, that was Southern Air in Wentzville.
Lol how could he get away with that in the time of film cameras? Taking a piss and hearing a giant medium format shutter snap 😂
why isnt there any new anti war songs like there were back in the 60s,70s?
Because top 40 music of the last few decades can't be about anything thought-provoking.
