No one can stay at the top forever. Stewie on a 125 was perhaps the most amazing rider ever. Ask a former pro who was racing 250cc in 2002-2004. The premier class 250 guys would go out of their way to watch the 125 motos/heats...just to see what Stewie would/could do. He changed the way people rode... Cant ever change that....

James was doin stuff on a 125 that guys on a 250 wouldn't even dream of, both indoors and outdoors! He took the sport to new levels, just didn't have the consistency of Ricky or Chad.

Stewart was doing stuff on a 125 that no one else could do but he just couldn’t do that on a 450. He could have competed with the 450’s on a 125 but all he did when he moved up was hurt himself, he just couldn’t handle the power and speed he got from a bigger bike

Time to settle the whole . . "Bubba was the fastest rider ever" . . . He was great, and after Carmichael retired, he was unquestionably the fastest rider on earth. Best ever? You tell me?. . . Stewart won 7 ama championships. Ricky Carmichael won 16 ama championships. James Stewart won 98 ama races. Ricky Carmichael won 162. Stewart and Carmichael raced several full seasons in the same class against each other in head to head competition, and in every single one of them Ricky Carmichael won the championship. They raced a total of 59 ama events against each other. Of those 59, Carmichael beat Stewart 39 times, and Stewart beat Carmichael 20 times. Carmichael retired from ama motocross after running 7 races in the 2007 motocross season against Stewart, winning all 7 events. (Carmichael crashed out of the lead in two of those races, and both times caught and passed Stewart to win both) . . . . . After carmichael retired stewart was easily the fastest rider on earth. Was he faster than Ricky Carmichael.......... no

@@garrett3234 James raced for more years than RC did and Ricky still has 162 totals wins to Bubba's 116. RC also has 15 titles to Stewart's 6. Not only that, but RC absolutely crushed James outdoors in 2005 and 2006. James could not match his pace without crashing his brains out. James was all-out faster in Supercross, there's no doubt. But Ricky had him covered outdoors. He never even lost a race to Stewart in the 2007 Nationals when he was semi-retired!

    1) CARMICHEAL
    2) STEWART
    3) MCGRATH
I do believe if JS and Carmicheal were riding on the same quality machines JS would have given him way more trouble. Carmicheal swept 2 full seasons and also lapped 39 racers in one race and has 48 wins with 5 championship wins. JS swept one season has 50 wins (2 more wins then Carmicheal) and 2 championships. '06' MX RC once again dominated all comers, including James Stewart, in winning 9 races and placing second twice. However, at the season finale at Glen Helen Raceway, RC crashed while challenging James Stewart for the win and was unable to finish the race. Fortunately though, Carmichael had already clinched the overall championship at the prior round. In the crash, he sustained a shoulder injury and was unable to compete in the Motocross of Nations race in England.

Honestly if u think for a minute, JS came up when RC was n his prime, but near the end of his carrer. He pushed the pace so high that it was either Ricky found a new gear or he was gona get beat.....Well, like always it seems Ricky put that work effort of his to good use and made it happen.

Carmicheal never gave him the lead and took it back.
This event is still bigger known than anything RC ever did.

ENDO PAYNE TV I disagree. RC lapped the entire field. James never did that.

2 perfect seasons? Lapping the entire field? I love James but RC is the GOAT. RC admits James was faster but he was not smarter at race craft At least not at that point of his career.

How about winning every moto twice, or maybe lapping the entire field.

Carmichael quit half way thru the 07 MX series with a hefty points lead. Your statement might make sense if it wasn't wrong.

That was Chad Reed in the race before Unadilla.
    It was at Troy,OH.
I think that is why he did this, payback.

@zipify Again! Carmichael quit the Supercross/Motocross seasons in 2007 due to car racing obligations. So it's not really included since RC didn't race the whole SX/MX '07' seasons. Yes he did win every title he raced a full season with Stuart.

Ya RC clock was cleaned alright,Bubbas outta control ass landed on RC at unadilla, carmicheal learned to control at that speed. James still hasn't learned. Better prey he dont hurt himself again this season outdoors.
