So true! I worked out of my mustang for a year cause that’s all I could afford. A lot of time was spent just pulling out everything and setting it up. But I payed my bills. It was really hard at first, and a lot of anxiety but it worked. With a vacuum, hose nozzle, and spray bottle you can get alot done. Yes it takes longer but you can do it. Start small and grow, don’t give up and it will work out. There will always be “failure” but if you don’t quit you will succeed as long as you are constantly knowing where you can improve and knowing you what will be the most profitable purchase
I also started in my Mustang when I was in college. Even named my bussiness pony express mobile detailing lol. Had $40 and bought some buckets and cleaning chemicals from Walmart and slowly grew from there

If the car is moderate to lightly dirty I primarily used meguires rinseless wash and used meguires synthetic x-press as a drying aid for extra lubrication. 90% of customers have scratched up swirl covered paint from going through car washes and never have wax on their car so doing a proper "Garry dean" wash method is not damaging the car at all at that point
I have been up and running for about a month, been kicking this business idea around for a couple years and pulled the trigger I used our 3rd truck it's a 2000 escalade I have a pressure washer generator my chemicals basic 3 gallon vacuum that uses bags so I'm not blowing shit around and 110 gallons of water I have been able to run about 3 cars a day 118 degree weather kicks your ass. I have made my start up costs back + and I am looking forward to upgrading in a year but this man is 100% you can get out there with what you have and make it happen you just have to ask your self are you committed to x amount of bullshit to get where you want to go if the answer is yes there is no limit... So facts. I started out of my sunburnt 2001 Honda accord (sedan). I did that for almost 10 months, upgraded to a Honda Odyssey just two months ago. Upgrade as you go along. For the first 3 months of detailing i never had an extractor or a steamer or a generator. Vacuum and some products and tools.
Still working out of my Honda Accord lol but I also have 90% of the same tools! Looking to buy a van one day. I had it planned out, but a family emergency happened (lost my father to Covid). So using my savings to keep a roof over my head as well as my mom’s, and food are more important at the moment. I’d kill for the HHR storage space lol my trunk has the bottles of products, microfiber gloves, mitts ect. And I put a moving blanket down on my backseat for whatever tools I need for the job I’m doing that day like my pressure washer, vacuum, extractor, steamer, ladder if needed ect. It’s definitely a pain, but it’s absolutely doable. Just more work, but if you’re in it for the long haul. 100% start out with what you have and work up when you can.
Very good info! I kind of went backwards. I started at a shop full time, times got slow so I downsized to a mobile trailer and it was kind of easy to know what I would need, just needed to organize really well to fit it all in the trailer.

Man... When I was young and fresh out of highschool I tried making money on the side by washing cars out of my crx! I only had a bucket, soap, spong and towel. I remember one day I went to wash a car for a friend's boss and I asked him if I could fill my bucket with his water and the guy couldn't believe it! He started complaining that I didn't have my own water and that it was a joke! That pissed me off and was really disheartening... It was just a $20 car wash and my venture ended right there... That was over 20 years ago and at this point of my life I seam to be back on the path towards that same venture but things are different now, I'm a different person. I'm really motivated to do this and frankly I don't have much of a choice. I need to make a living, pay bills, buy food etc... The point is there's going to be some Karen's out there that'll try and beat you down with their words for whatever reason. So no matter how small you start, if it's just a bucket and sponge, don't let some people's negativity and lack of encouragement get you down. Keep hustling and get that second bucket! After a while that generator and then all the rest of the goodies! Better get out there and prosper yo!

If you have a trunk then it will suffice. Ive brought a couple of buckets with tools for paint and wheels, vacuum, steamer, small carrying case for chemicals and miscellaneous tools and a bench for suvs you really dont need that much space. Like the video stressing that point that you work with what you have and upgrade when youre able👍🏼

Umm what kind of soap do you use? I recommend rain x from Walmart. Also just use a filter for your hose from Walmart they are in the RV section of Walmart as well.
Get a deionized filter system. They're about $100-150 on Amazon. The filters last a decent amount of time unless you're doing multiple cars every day. Depending on the setup, you can run a separate hose to use for the last "spot free" rinse and that will allow it to last a longer amount of time.

I am 17 me and my friends starting this idea and we all drive so we could do it so just use what u have right now and save up. i got a pressure washer and a bucket full of mits/chemicals so yea i have to start advertising since I havent gotten a customer yet still pretty scared. i dont even have my own tank or electricity so i hope this go well. good luck with you too
I have a quick question. I got a water tank with pump and filter with a hose divider do one goes to the power washer and the other hose I put back to the tank so it continuously recirculates but sometimes my pump still seems like its working harder or my power washer is working harder. What do I need to do, leave the pump on both directions or shit one off when using power washer? Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Thank you
