Loved the playthrough. For some reason though, the top down angle facing towards you guys as opposed to straight down totally messed with my brain for some reason.

Thank you! Fantastic feedback. We are still figuring out what works best with the equipment we have. We also noticed a fair bit of camera wobble when editing, most noticeable if you look at the border of our face cam, but more severe at other times. We'll take all this on board and hopefully next time we can get something that causes less mind messery! :)

Thanks for the Ankh content! You're the first I have seen, as I'm anxious for my own copy to arrive. I would be curious how the painting process went for you.. Never know what other niche audience you might attract with something different like that 🤟

You're welcome and thanks for the feedback! We are still figuring out what types of content to create, and want to provide variety (that's the spice of life, after all!) but also don't want to be so broad that our audience has no idea what to expect from the channel! 🙂

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting these. Learning so much from both of you whilst I wait for my copy to arrive. That middle area for Sobek was crazy for territory control. Wondering if limiting his grasp with camels would have been something to try. Please post more great gameplay. Cheers!

Commenting on my comment.. (super cool, I know.) Reading the rule book, the Adjacency rule on page 8 seems to contradict the Sobek water token being in all three regions. I think the river prevents it from being part of the other two. “Spaces divided by a river or camel are not adjacent. This applies to ALL cases where the term adjacent is used.” Curious if others interpret this the same or different. Still, great stuff!

You are more than welcome David. Glad you're enjoying the content and hyping you up for yours to arrive! :)
Reading the rulebook for Tomb of Wonders there is a note in the Sobek section that reads "Note: Water spaces count as part of each region they are adjacent to. Water spaces are considered adjacent to all spaces surrounding them (even if there's a river between them)." There is an image depicting this exact scenario with a blue "yes, it's a adjacent" arrow. So I'm 100% sure he is adjacent to all 3 regions, and I'm 90% sure he's adjacent to any monument on a land space next to him in one of those regions.
Camel control can help try and remove him from an area you care about, but splitting the region still leaves him permanently setup to control 3 regions. While editing the video I noticed I could have actually used the camels I placed to split the city region (lower right) in two, branching off from a corner of Sobek's tile, which means he can actually control 4 zones if you get the camel event. This is BONKERS in a 2 player game, as you saw poor Miss above experience first hand. With higher player counts, more regions are added during setup, so even if he is in 3-4 regions, there may be another 3-4 he isn't in, so you just battle for those instead. I have not played enough but I'm convinced some gods are more powerful than others, fullstop. Many of the god powers get less / more powerful based off player count though. For example I believe Amun and Sobek are stronger with fewer players, where-as Ptah gets stronger with more players as each time a player builds a monument they have to hand over an additional follower.
Despite this I am still really enjoying the game though! We are hoping to do a comparison video for the 3 (Blood rage, Rising sun and Ankh) soon where I'll talk about some of the above points a little more. :)
Sorry for the long winded response, haha! Hope your game arrives soon so you can give it crack!

@@BoardDownUnder wow! Appreciate the amazing and thoughtful response. Glad to know they’ve included additional rules for him. Without having it, I am relegated to the core game’s online manual on Cmon’s website. Very much appreciate you letting me know what the actual rules are. Was thinking about letting my buddy be Sobek the first time we play due do his loving crocs/gators so much. But after seeing this.. no way! :)

Haha, you're welcome. First time playing he might not spot the "prime middle spot" for Sobek. First game might be the best game to let him play Sobek in a 1v1! ;)

The Camera angle on this one Hurts my Eyes, so glad you changed it on the one I'm watching now--- 1st playthrough, hope your others are a better angle as well, BC I like your playthroughs. :-)

Thanks for the feedback! Glad you're enjoying (most) of the content, haha. But yeah, I really dropped the ball on this camera angle! I'm surprised I didn't pick it up during editing because even as I watch parts myself now I notice the discomfort!! This must have slipped through cracks due to late night tired eyes, or possible a coffee induced coma. Maybe even both

Actually Ptha is really strong, especially with more Players. You have to use the lvl3 Ankh Power, where you can buy Devotion for followers. 👍

Good point! The more we play this the more we find intricacies that highlight each god's power. I still don't think they're all balanced, but I definitely think some of the ones we thought less exciting at first glance have grown on us. That said I'm not sure I put Ptah on that pedestal, but you've inspired me to give him another crack. ;)

Great playthrough, main feedback. The angled camera made me a bit noxious at first. Maybe if you could just have it directly above, not at an angle would be better?

    • @BoardDownUnder

Thanks mate! We will definitely look into sorting this for the next playthrough as it seems like this might be affecting a few people! Hopefully we didn't cause too much discomfort!

Seems to be obvious when play Sobek, move him in the best place (middle) then stay here for game, and can not be taken out is a problem for opponents

I wonder if the placements of the Camel caravans could be used to split the areas sobek has access to.

    • @BoardDownUnder
      @BoardDownUnder  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Sort of, but not really. You can split a region he is connected to, but he will still be touching one of 1 half of that split region, so still in control of 3

@@BoardDownUnder i think it is possible to make sobek adjacent to 4 regions by splitting with camels, finally sobek become even more powerful !
