I put 8 feeder goldfish in my garden pond. They not only grew into big beautiful fish, they had babies and now the pond is full. So much color and fun at feeding time!
I did the same thing, Its a 3 layer pond. I have to constantly scoop them up and put them back on different levels because they like to ride down the water fall.
I was on the way back home from a zoo trip with the family and we stopped by a local store in the city. I found a glass catfish and I had never seen one before and I loved it. Unfortunately he was pretty beat up and by himself so I did some quick research and saved him. Housed him with some tetras for a while and he did okay. By the time I had another tank set up for him, it took me probably 3-4 months to find any more glass cats for him to school with. Now he’s got 9 other friends and couldn’t be happier. Very peaceful little guys
I rescued 2 angelfish 2 years ago their fins are all messed up because their tank mates are tiger barbs.. their size is just a coin size and after 6 months they grew so fast and absolutely gorgeous and then I'm so shocked when they breed but sadly they always ate all the eggs.. exactly 1 year under my care I upgrade their tank from 20 gallons to 75 gallons they were so happy and breed again and now I hatch their eggs artificially but only 1 survived and their only child is with them now I'm so happy to share this beautiful experience in the hobby. 😊
Filament Barb. My story: About 18 years ago, my husband and I were checking out new arrivals at our favorite LFS. Well, amongst the owner's recent new arrivals were some unidentified nondescript silver 1" long fish(fry). We bought 3. The 3 grew to 5"-6" long with beautiful coloring and lovely streaming dorsal fins. All 3 were male filament barbs. One lived for about 8 years and the remaining 2 lived to the ripe OLD age of 16 years! WARNING: They will jump out of the aquarium when startled or while doing a type of courting dance (even if you have only males). They weren't aggressive to one and other or tankmates.
Red Cherry Shrimp are my new favourite tank inhabitants. The locals LFS's here sell them for about $3.50 for one but I didn't buy from them. I got an absolute bargain. I get mine from a local breeder who has so many to sell he gave me a bag of 15 healthy active shrimp for....$5.00. After quarantining for 4 weeks none of them had any signs of illness so I put half in my main tank and half into my new Walstad bowl. Both sets are going nuts exploring every inch of their new environments. So awesome.
Strange, I sell my cherry shrimp at $2 a piece locally. But I have high quality red shrimp with no clearness. Your LFS is also too cheap. I wonder if they’re low grade. At least here in the cities good grade red shrimp go for $30 For 6
@@itsadreamfrodo6461 Thanks for your comment. I have 3 LFS's near me and they are all about the same. I expect they get their stock from the same wholesaler tbh. I didn't like all their stock because the shrimp are all shrimplets, and very very young and still very small. I expect you are right and they are lower grade. The local hobbyist / breeder who I bought from invited me into his place and he walked me through his setup and was really happy with how me managed and cared for them. His stock is very active and very healthy and still thriving in my tank. His price per shrimp reflects that he doesn't have the overheads of a shop front and employees and dealing with wholesalers. So that's a win for both sides. He's happy to make a sale and I get good healthy shrimp at a great price.
My list of beautiful fish: 1. Bettas. 2. Guppies (Especially Endlers or wild-caught!) 3. Dwarf Gourami 4. Celestial Pearl Danios 5. Albino Cardinal Tetras (my favourite and most recent addition, although rare to come across) 6. Platies! 7. Discus (dad's favourite) Am I the only one noticing that the store-bought guppies are getting more aggressive than their predecessors? In the past they were completely peaceful but now they will assasinate other guppies in their tank. Is this a result of indiscriminate breeding? Also all online forums claim that CPDs are completely peaceful, but in my experience they tend to fin-nip if kept in too small a tank without anything to break up their line of sight.
You asked, I'll respond! I know it's been a few months since you posted this, but I just came across it. I wanted to say, it's funny you mentioned neon tetras and platys. Neon tetras are one of my favorite fish. If I have a community tank, I ALWAYS have blue neon tetras in it, 3-5 depending on the size of my tank. But you asked about the most beautiful fish in the hobby. Now, please realize I've only ever had tanks big enough for community or semi aggressive fish. But here is my lest for top 10. Betta fish Neon Tetra Fancy Guppy Gourami Red Minor tetra Koi/Gold fish Australian Rainbowfish Bala shark Royal Gramma Glowlight Danio As for fish that breed well... I try to be VERY CAREFUL when selecting fish for my tank. I ALWAYS try to have only male fish so that I DON'T have breeders. I made the mistake of picking up what I THOUGHT were two platys - a micky mouse platy and an orange platy. They were placed, with other fish, in a 29 gallon tank. Next thing I know, my tank was OVERRUN with platys. Apparently one of my platys was a female. It took me forever to get rid of them!!!
I rescued a feeder goldfish that is a very unique comet instead of having a 2 prong tail, it has a 3 prong tail. I know its a birth defect but this fish swims normal, and is very healthy. Love your videos!
I used a couple of feeder fathead minnows to cycle my 2 small tanks and so far they are still alive... Now I have added all male guppies and in a couple weeks I will add some honey gourami and cherry shrimp and otocinclus.. All pretty good and cheap fish. 😊
The latest fish I rescued from my fish store, was 3 Angelfish. 3 big ones that some costumer have an have gone to big for the tank. I said to the store owner, I will give them a good fish life for the rest of there lives. They are thriving in my 450 Liters tank, and are still living. 🐟🐟🐟🥰👍
I got feeder goldfish to hang with my turtle. They slowly outgrew the tank, and the next one, and the next one. They’re now about 18 inches long each and living their best life in our 1/2 acre pond. I’ve had them 7 years, they let me hand feed them and they’re super sweet. Ten cents each!
Rosy minnows, ghost shrimp, nerite snail, and otocinclus catfish. All of them super cheap and all of them is what you would typically need in an average aquarium. Rosy minnows as schooling dither fish, nerite snail, ghost shrimp and otocinclus as algae/waste clean up crew. Rosy minnows 10 for $1, ghost shrimp 4 for $1, nerite snail $3, otocinclus $3. Budget friendly aquarium plants would be anacharis. Get a nice big bundle for about $7 or $8. Get urself some substrate while ur at it. Play sand 50 lb for $7. Hard to find cheap driftwood though for hardscape.
My #1 most beautiful fish is a betta. I love them so much. Their personalities are just so diverse and their fins are always amazing regardless of the size. They are by far my favorite fish to keep, be it a single fish planted tank or a peaceful community.
Love the video! Love platies. They are just like mini goldfish, same water puppy personalities! Most beautiful fish: Paratalapia bleekeri (starry night cichlid) Red shoulder severums Rummynose tetras Geophagus winemilleri Apistogramma cacatuoides Red blue Colombian tetras Rams (blue, black, etc.)
my list of most beautiful fish in the freshwater hobby are 1.Pearl gourami 2.Guppies 3.shrimp (just all of them) 4.kuhli loach 5.angelfish 6.cory catfish (all of them) 7.harlequin rasboras
I’ve never seen tetras for a dollar a piece in my area, but the big box stores and the mom and pops all seem to have buy 3 get 1 deals on em every so often I used to shy away from tetras, especially neons bc I was like, I’m a fish keeper, I ain’t foolin with neon tetras I ain’t 10 years old no more, but I’ve regained a new appreciation for them. At this point in my fish keeping career, the staples are coming back in fashion for me, there’s nothing like a school of neon tetras flying thru an aquarium.
5) Apistograma agassizzi Super Red (red tail, purple back, yellow body....c'mon!) 4) Apistograma mcmasteri (another gorgeous Apisto) 3) Pearl Gourami (adult males are amazing in the right light!) 2) Congo tetras (get a large school going and get ready to pick your jaw up off the floor!) 1) Cardinal tetra ( sorry, I know it's "common" but there's not a better looking fish around!)
My faves in no particular order… Bettas Discus Killifishes Rainbows Gouramis (pearl!!) Kerri blue tetras Jewel cichlids OB Peacocks Too many cichlids to name
I did exactly as you said slmost 30 years ago and was allowed to pick out8 feeder goldfish. I just lost 2 and am now down to 6 of the most beautiful fin buddies. I tell everyone that I love goldfish because they are big enough to see them, they have nice ling life times so you can afford to get attached to them, they are easy to feed and have wonderful personalities . I am honored that they have shared this rough lifevwith me , through thick and thin!❤
My list of beautiful fish: 1. Black ghost knife 2. Glass catfish. I'm having a school of 8 glass catfish and 2 black ghost knife fish now. Most people don't like black ghost knife, they said these guys swim in an ugly way. However, I'm always interested in how they can swim backwards. My 2 BGK have very different personalities. One guy will love to rest (play plank) by the anubias, the other guy will actively swim around the whole day. In the dark, the glass catfish are beautiful when just a little light hits the tank and they will glow like neon lights or changing colors as rainbow.
Here’s my list! 1. Frontosa (especially the Moba Blue) 2. Oscars (yeah I think they are beautiful) 3. Rummy Nose Tetras 4.Galaxy Rasboras 5. Altums Angelfish 6. Corydoras 7.Copadichromis Borleyi Kandago 8. Bettas of course 9. Ember Tetras 10. Koïs
1. Angelfish I have Angelfish with black on them and they come to the front of the tank when I look at them. 2. Betta fish Have ya seen a Betta? Amazing! 3. Corycats I had one out of the 9 I got who looked like he had metal confetti on him, I don't know what kind but he was mind blowing to look at. 4. Discus Seeing them in real life is was better than seeing them online 5. Guppies Moscow Green guppies are really pretty, even though they are actually blue. 6. Koi Even though I have Goldfish that look like Koi but they're both pretty.
I just set up a 40 gallon with blue shrimp and endlers in mind. I now have 5 pairs of endlers and 7 blue shrimp (much higher grade than I was even considering) with a large berried up female .... total cost from the 2 local individuals $25. Yes, I understand I very likely will be all but giving stuff away in 6 months myself. Getting connected to your local aquarium community is priceless ....
The most beautiful fish in the hobby... • Female Salini • Female Red Terror (the males aren't bad either) • Male Jaguar • Super Red Albino Tiger Oscar • The Black Ghost Knifefish • Flowerhorn • Silver Cichlid (Maskaheros argenteus) • Starry Night
List of most beautiful fish, actually in no particular order: 1) Congo Tetra (I have a school and believe me, they have colors I didn't even knew could exist...). 2) Pearl Gourami. 3) Neon / Cardinal / Green Neon Tetra. 4) Apistos and Kribs (various species, but all of them have stunning colorations). 5) Jewel Cichlids (unfortunately very aggressive, only isolated pairs can be hosted in typical tanks). 6) Paradise Fish (sort of a larger Betta - Their orange and blue coloration is striking). 7) Discus. 8) Sunperch (unfortunately, might require a cooler, which is costly). 9) Rainbow shiners (sort of a "cold water Congo Tetra", also having stunning iridescences). 10) Various 'Mbunas (but they're aggressive and have specific demands to be met - Be cautious!).
Most beautiful fish according to me: Bettas (some are quite plain, but if I find one I like, I love it) Cardinal tetra Neon blue and powder blue dwarf gouramis Angel fish Discus Starry night cichlid OB peacock cichlid Star sapphire cichlid That is the first ones that come to mind. I’m sure there are many many others just as beautiful.
Oh, I totally forgot about the congo tetra while making my list! I love them. But I don't want them unless I some day have a big(!) aquarium. Big enough for making a large group of congo tetras look pretty small :p I love having small fish in big aquariums.
@@NinniAquariums Me too, but when I saw them I had to have them. Now I have eight (three males and five females) in my 50 gallons / 190 litres just with a Bristlenose, but seem to thrive (albeit, I admit, the tank is on the bottom end of adequate size for them...).
@@TenorCantusFirmus How many do you have? Other inhabitants? My new aquarium is 200L (101cm long), so it should work out with the congos. The only issue is that I'm planning for a group of rainbowfish, and it feels like it easily will be too many fish for that aquarium... I really need the Melanotaenia sahulensis 😁
@@NinniAquariums I have eight (three males and five females) just with a Bristlenose. They should have no problems with other peaceful schooling fish, but like to have space for swimming - If it's a 200 litres I'd keep just them in a dedicated tank.
Feeder goldfish! My spring project has been getting a 300 gallon stock tank pond set up. Started with a couple feeder fish (36 cents each), a couple of weeks later added some shubunkin ($15 each). I realized I like the feeders just as much as the shubunkin so the rest of my stocking will be feeders! And the bonus of knowing a few fish basically won the lottery. :)
Most beautiful fish: without any doubt, the Pseudomugil luminatus! Yes, they do look small, grey and boring in the pet store when they're young. But if you buy them, put them in a tank with a lot of plants and wait a little while, they will be stunning 😁 Others that's really beautiful in my opinion: other Pseudomugils. Pearl gourami. Other, small gouramis. Guppies. Celestial pearl danio. Scarlet badis. Oh, and on the subject of cheap fish... I'm tempted to buy white cloud minnows, much because I think that they're beautiful 😅
My most beautiful fish? That’s easy: cichlids and sunfishes with blue or green iridescent spangles, like: - Jack Dempsey - Texas cichlid - Carpinte cichlid - Blue acara - Green terror - Jewel cichlid - Green sunfish - Pumpkinseed - Dollar sunfish - Redbreast sunfish - Longear sunfish All of these fish are like living jewels, and they just amaze me every time I see them.
I have about 100 rosy reds in my 125. They're a great cheap schooling fish to add lots of movement like danios. I have a few feeder goldfish in different tanks and ponds. My local pet store even gave me a 7" feeder last summer because they didn't know what to do with him.
YAYYYYYYY 500,000 subscribers I see!!!! CONGRATULATIONS John and Lisa!!!! Love it. Also, this was another great video as always. CONGRATULATIONS Again!! So happy for you guys!!!
For cheap fish. Convict Cichlids. LFS is constantly cutting the price on them. Usually, it's down to $2 a piece. Even if they're not marked down, it's $5 a piece. And they breed like crazy too. As for most beautiful, they all are.
Love all your choices but you forget to mention mollies. As to the most beautiful freshwater fish, here is my list: dwarf gourami, guppies, galaxy pearl danios, zebra danios, cardinal tetras, clown loaches, most cories, black ghost knife, clown knife, discus, angels, pearl danios, calico koi, bettas and I love elephant nose!
Hi … I’m one of your subs all the way from Sydney Australia 🦘🇦🇺.. I just want to say you and your partner are the best and most experience I’ve personally seen online. Your content and Information makes sense for all beginners like myself and you guys talk normal easy to understand Fish talk Cause it gets confusing watching other content creators confusing the fish hobby by explaining 1000 different sand, soil , plants, filters , fish etc etc which probably costs an arm and a leg and at the end you don’t know what to buy or even what they said lol. Which scares you off the hobby!! Well done guys . Thanks for your show !! Ken 👍😊
Marbled angel fish! Such a gorgeous centerpiece cichlid that isnt overly aggressive! Love my tank. 20 gallon tall 4 glow tetras two emerald corys two spotted corys and a marbled angel fish with java moss, rubra spira, and something i dont remember growing out of the top.
Hey John and Lisa! Excellent video!! I would love to see a list of top 10 fish to be viewed from above! Summer pond season is coming up here and I’d love to hear your opinions on some great looking fish from above! Goldfish and koi are cool and all but I want some options like cichlids 😂
Got to say green terrors, daffodil brichardi, and blue johanni are my favorite pretty tropicals/ cichlids. Pumpkinseed sunfish is my favorite pretty native north american fish.
Im gonna become a member! When I get paid this week im gonna need a new betta tank. My tank has been leaking since day one. 😢 I definitely will buy from you guys! Y’all inspired me to love fish! The most beautiful fish in my opinion electric blue lobsters, betta fish and I love the white and black clown fish!
I must have cheap taste. When I had tanks, I loved having guppies, danios, and platies. I think your list is great. Just because a fish isn’t expensive doesn’t mean it’s not enjoyable. I had hoped to restart the hobby and planned to initially stock my tanks with most of the fish in your list. Why? Because they look good. However, my back issues now tell me I can’t do any of the major tank maintenance tasks like water changes or cleaning the tank. I substitute by watching fish keeping videos, so please keep giving love to my inexpensive little friends.
I think Angel fish should be on this list. Sure, there are expensive ones, but also those that cost less than $10. And comparing some of the cheap fish in this video, where you need/want about 10 of them, like Zebra Danio, you can easily keep just 2-3 Angel fish with no other tank mates in a 55 gallon tank. That is $30 or less to stock a tank with absolutely gorgeous fish!
Rosy barbs are very underrated. People always ask me what they are, and are shocked when i tell them. Give them a good environment and care, and they color up like crazy.
I love White Clouds-just the regular, original type. If they are happy they develop deep colors and are not plain but have a subtle beauty. They look like mini trout to me.
I just love your videos John and Lisa! Your production quality is superb and you always manage to keep them informative and fun! Keep on keepin' on!!❤❤❤❤
I'm in love with my Peacock Gudgeon.I had a trio, Rita, Sue and Bob too!! (If you know, you know) Unfortunately Rita passed away, but Bob and Sue are just stunning and have so much character.
The most beautiful fish in my opinion . For larger tanks 75 which would be bare minimum for these fish. and above Peacock Cichlids, Mbuna Cichlids, Discus, Oscars. Smaller tanks up to 55 , Tanganyika shell dwellers , Angel fish Neon/Cardinal Tetra's ,Cherry Barbs (not all in same tank obviously ) could add more but they would be my top picks for the different tanks sizes
Love the fish and shrimp choices ! I'm a fan of all of them. My favorite fish are Gouramis , blue spot , golden , opaline , dwarf gouramis etc. My Diana Halstad bowl is doing so well with Helanthium suggested by Lisa and bought from KJtropicals.
Here's my list of the top 10 most beautiful fish: 10: Goldfish 9: Corydoras 8: Freshwater Angelfish 7: Neon Tetras 6: Guppies 5: Blue Wagtail Platies 4: Lionfish 3: Betta Fish 2: Cherry Barbs 1: GloFish
I personally encountered this exact problem recently. My dad bought me a 220 Gallon aquarium and I want to do Discus. I set it up, planted it and didn't have money for Discus. So, what I'm doing is letting the tank cycle for a month with waste from my Goldfish tank filter (Goldfish is a 300gallon and they're all rescued feeder fish) while I put some money aside and when I could get the fish. The tank will be cycled, the plants roots will have taken a bit into the sand. And I'll be able to spend all that saved money on really nice discus'.
Shrimp are seriously so awesome! My little sis have had a shrimp & snail only tank running for less than a year ago, she used around 90 USD on a group of a bit fancier shrimp and those little guys have paid back their price multiple times already when she sells them as her little tank is getting too crowded😁
Feeder gold fish are also good for starting a tank. 2 or 3 of them in a large tank. When they get bigger they will also turn your top layer of gravel over all day long..
Amazing video keep up the good work I’m currently looking to stock my 29 gallon not knowing what to put in there. It’s just sitting here fully planted.
My thoughts on most beautiful fish, aside from the ones I expect to be listed already, has to include all gouramis, and if you want more specifics I'd choose the opaline gouramis they have such a unique paturn to them and that blue sheen combined with their slightly larger but not overly big size and their outgoing personality just makes them the best and just perfect for a centerpiece in a planted aquarium. Did i mention they eat snails and mine have even been known to munch on algae from time to time. I also need to make an honorable mention for pearl danios. Not CPDs. Regular pearl danios. What an underappreciated little fish they are and both the males and females have an absolutely wonderful red opalescence to them.
My favorites, red and blue Columbian tetras are inexpensive, beautiful, EASY and so often passed by. People see them in the store where they are usually so stressed they have almost no color, and assume they're nothing special, but once they're happy, I don't think any small fish is prettier.
Very good list and I gotta add a fun fact. In europe where I live the neon tetras cost less than 1 dollar. If I convert the price to USD it's like 0,7 or maybe 0,8 in USD per tetra which is ridiculous. 🤣❤️
I live in Costa Rica, and I only keep wild caught native fish from here. It all started for this exact reason, years ago I was a kid who barely scraped enough money to get a small little aquarium and a filter, and thus, didn't have money for fish and my parents didn't either. So I would go out, collect sand, plants and fish for my aquariums. After that, I've absolutely fallen in love with cichlids, live-bearers and tetras. I know John dislikes them, but my first ever cichlid that I caught and kept was a convict cichlid and I personally adore them haha (Of course, I quarantine my fish, but the price of a bottle of medicine is better than buying multiple fish).
I literally have every single one of those fish except feeder goldfish. I just don’t have room for a tank big enough. I think white clouds are beautiful!! The black stripe and gold colors shine in a planted tank! If you can get the long fin variety you’ve got a fish that could rival the rest! IMO! 😊 ps: I’d like to add lampeye rasbora and ember tetra as good cheap options!
When money is tight, get a pet aquarium rock. It dont need to eat or water changes. It can work for you like be a paper weight and keep an eye on your importance documents. 😂😂😂
Fish i find most beautiful... -Glowlight tetras aka "my goth fish" I adore their charcoal bodies with that blood red stripe. I wish there were more videos on them as I feeel whenever mentioned people think I'm referring to glo fish. - (might not count) mutt guppies. I rely on my ability to understand color theory and combination of body patterns when placing fish in my selective breeding tanks. They may be of no value in the seller part of the hobby but to me they are strikingly cool. - Discus, though I can't afford them or proper set up for them in my place I find them fascinating.
it's impossible to make 1 list of favorite fish taking from all over the world, so i will make more than one list of my favorites, dividing it on 3 zones of the world, Asian, African, South American and i will put Australia in Asian list. Six Favorite Asian Fish : 1. Scarlett Badis 2. Dwarf Blue Gourami and Pearl Gourami 3. Zodiac Loach 4. Blue eye Rainbowfish 5. Boesemani rainbow 6. Betta 7. (Bonus) Celestial Pearl Danios (No list will be full filled without them) Six Favorite African Fish : 1. Julidochromis Marleri 2. Neolamprologus leleupi 3. Blue Neon Herring Cichlid 4. Demanson's Cichlid 5. Melanochromis auratus 6. Pseudotropheus Elongatus Chewere 7. (Bonus) Kribensis Six Favorite South-American Fish 1. Apistogramma(any sp.) 2. Tetras( There are so varieties impossible to mention only one, two my Fav are Black neon for hardiness and Cardinal Tetra for color ) 3. Oscar 4. Corydoras (any sp.) 5. Geophagus Tapajos Red Head 6. German Ram 7. (Bonus) ANGELFISH I didn't want to mention massive Monsters, so didn't include Snakeheads and other monsters. There are many beautiful colorful monsters. 🙏
I love white cloud minnows, like em more than neon tetras . Like their not too flashy appearance and the fact that they breed so unproblematic. And i also like the longfinned and golden ones
I say CPDs and Dwarf Emerald Rasboras are beautiful tiny little guys. I don't have to tell you about the Rummynose. I think the Emperor Tetras (both types) are pretty and have some awesome fins too. Blue Conchu Tetra from Dan's is amazing.
Bettas are the most beautiful fish by far! And I ADORE shrimp; so easy to keep and their antics are wonderful. Guppies can cost you a fortune if you keep adding tanks to the multiplying hoard! (I know this how...?)
One of the most beautiful fish I have ever had that are not that talked about here are Apistogramma Cichlids. They’re small so they can go in small tanks. With them you’re getting that Cichlids personality. There are also many varieties of them. I have a pair of wild Hongsloi, and they’re beautiful.
Head and Tail light tetras are also a fun one! got a tank with them, and under a plant light, the red REALLY pops! They cost me $2.39 each with a buy one get one sale. They're a wild, fun bunch of fish who sometimes get bullied by the kuhli loaches when they begin their late in the evening improv hungry dance and squiggle madly about with zoomies.
I have white clouds with my betta. And 3 shrimp and so far they are great 2gether in my planted tank. And the white clouds where only 2 dollars a piece nice little active fish
Of course, the most beautiful fish, hands down, are bettas and angels! Close second are cardinals, only because they are also stunning even from across the room.
i maybe a little bit biased but rainbowfish are my favorite my personal favorite of the rainbowfish are Chilatherina alleni wapoga and emerald rainbowfish
Hi!! I love my glofish rainbow shark. I would put him on the list of beautiful fish. He is beautiful with blue and red. Also my female koi betta is beautiful with her blue eyes and red tail.
I disagree that white clouds are plain looking fish, they're cute and beautiful! (OG white clouds that is, the goldens I'm not keen on but many people love them). A great budget fish and one of my absolute favourites is the albino corydoras. They're pretty bomb-proof, breed readily and so interesting to watch, they're cute friendly water puppies! ❤
The most beautiful fish: German Blue ram, rosy barb, denisony barb, discus, pearl gourami, calico angel fish, half-moon beta, tiger barb and some South American jewel cichlids.
As for shrimp, you can also find decent cherry shrimp at around half the price compared to what you pay for them at your LFS. Today I was at a small aquarium fair and I got bloody mary shrimp for € 2,- a piece. And they come from a decent breeder too! Normally these start around € 3,95 at the lfs. They've been in their bags all day but once acclimatised and in their tank they're roaming like nothing happened.
My favorite fish to look at are.... In no particular order..... 1 Denison Barbs (golds especially) 2 wild type gold barbs 3 odessa barb 4 congo tetra 5 snake skin barb Yeah I think my next tank should be a barb tank. I only have 2 of the fish on my list.
Love this! Thanks for sharing
They are a lovely fish 👍
I rescued 2 angelfish 2 years ago their fins are all messed up because their tank mates are tiger barbs.. their size is just a coin size and after 6 months they grew so fast and absolutely gorgeous and then I'm so shocked when they breed but sadly they always ate all the eggs.. exactly 1 year under my care I upgrade their tank from 20 gallons to 75 gallons they were so happy and breed again and now I hatch their eggs artificially but only 1 survived and their only child is with them now I'm so happy to share this beautiful experience in the hobby. 😊
I got mosquitofish I caught and they just had a baby too
John most of us in this hobby have MTS. Most of us are not good at impulse control when aquariums are involved 😂
At least here in the cities good grade red shrimp go for $30
For 6
@@itsadreamfrodo6461 Thanks for your comment.
My list of beautiful fish
1.Guppies
2.Platies
3.Mollies
4.Discus
5.Neon tetras
6.Cory catfish
Replace neon tetra with cardinal tetra and you have a list of
Betta fish
Pencil fish, but the red ones. But too expensive at the moment
My list of beautiful fish:
1. Bettas.
2. Guppies (Especially Endlers or wild-caught!)
3. Dwarf Gourami
4. Celestial Pearl Danios
5. Albino Cardinal Tetras (my favourite and most recent addition, although rare to come across)
6. Platies!
7. Discus (dad's favourite)
Am I the only one noticing that the store-bought guppies are getting more aggressive than their predecessors?
Betta fish
Neon Tetra
Fancy Guppy
Gourami
Red Minor tetra
Koi/Gold fish
Australian Rainbowfish
Bala shark
Royal Gramma
Glowlight Danio
As for fish that breed well...
Also most beautiful fish are *drum rolls*…….your fish
Right, I love my feeder fish goldfish.
I used a couple of feeder fathead minnows to cycle my 2 small tanks and so far they are still alive... Now I have added all male guppies and in a couple weeks I will add some honey gourami and cherry shrimp and otocinclus.. All pretty good and cheap fish. 😊
Thanks!
Thank you Robert!
Beautiful fish list:
Discus
Green Terror
German Black Rams
Cardinal Tetras
Angelfish
Those are my personal favorites as a freshwater aquarium keeper.
Most beautiful fish:
Paratalapia bleekeri (starry night cichlid)
Red shoulder severums
Rummynose tetras
Geophagus winemilleri
Apistogramma cacatuoides
Red blue Colombian tetras

Most beautiful fish:
Zebra Pleco (L046)
Pearl Gourami
Red Wag Platy
Cardinal Tetra
Zebra Danio (also longfin)
Longfin Neon Tetra
German Ram
Black Phantom Tetra
Pangio shelfordii (giraffe-pattern kuhli loach)
Betta splendens (male or female)
Pearlscale Angelfish
Discus
Corydoras adolfi
my list of most beautiful fish in the freshwater hobby are
1.Pearl gourami
2.Guppies
3.shrimp (just all of them)
4.kuhli loach
5.angelfish
6.cory catfish (all of them)
7.harlequin rasboras
I’ve never seen tetras for a dollar a piece in my area, but the big box stores and the mom and pops all seem to have buy 3 get 1 deals on em every so often
I used to shy away from tetras, especially neons bc I was like, I’m a fish keeper, I ain’t foolin with neon tetras I ain’t 10 years old no more, but I’ve regained a new appreciation for them.
At this point in my fish keeping career, the staples are coming back in fashion for me, there’s nothing like a school of neon tetras flying thru an aquarium.
I had a 200 gal outdoor pond. Feeder goldfish are my favorite. I would get solid and multi-colored. I really enjoyed them. They had a good life.
5) Apistograma agassizzi Super Red (red tail, purple back, yellow body....c'mon!)
4) Apistograma mcmasteri (another gorgeous Apisto)
3) Pearl Gourami (adult males are amazing in the right light!)
2) Congo tetras (get a large school going and get ready to pick your jaw up off the floor!)
1) Cardinal tetra ( sorry, I know it's "common" but there's not a better looking fish around!)
My faves in no particular order…
Bettas
Discus
Killifishes
Rainbows
Gouramis (pearl!!)
Kerri blue tetras
Jewel cichlids
OB Peacocks
Too many cichlids to name
I did exactly as you said slmost 30 years ago and was allowed to pick out8 feeder goldfish. I just lost 2 and am now down to 6 of the most beautiful fin buddies. I tell everyone that I love goldfish because they are big enough to see them, they have nice ling life times so you can afford to get attached to them, they are easy to feed and have wonderful personalities . I am honored that they have shared this rough lifevwith me , through thick and thin!❤
My list of beautiful fish:
1. Black ghost knife
1. Frontosa (especially the Moba Blue)
2. Oscars (yeah I think they are beautiful)
3. Rummy Nose Tetras
4.Galaxy Rasboras
5. Altums Angelfish
6. Corydoras
7.Copadichromis Borleyi Kandago
8. Bettas of course
9. Ember Tetras
10. Koïs
1. Angelfish
I have Angelfish with black on them and they come to the front of the tank when I look at them.
2. Betta fish
Have ya seen a Betta? Amazing!
3. Corycats
I had one out of the 9 I got who looked like he had metal confetti on him, I don't know what kind but he was mind blowing to look at.
4. Discus
Seeing them in real life is was better than seeing them online
5. Guppies
Moscow Green guppies are really pretty, even though they are actually blue.
6. Koi
Even though I have Goldfish that look like Koi but they're both pretty.
• Female Salini
• Female Red Terror (the males aren't bad either)
• Male Jaguar
• Super Red Albino Tiger Oscar
• The Black Ghost Knifefish
• Flowerhorn
• Silver Cichlid (Maskaheros argenteus)
• Starry Night
List of most beautiful fish, actually in no particular order:
1) Congo Tetra (I have a school and believe me, they have colors I didn't even knew could exist...).
Most beautiful fish according to me:
Bettas (some are quite plain, but if I find one I like, I love it)
Cardinal tetra
Neon blue and powder blue dwarf gouramis
Angel fish
Discus
Starry night cichlid
OB peacock cichlid
Star sapphire cichlid
That is the first ones that come to mind.
My list:
1. Discus
2. Killifish
3. Bettas
4. Guppies
5. Endlers
6. Celestial Pearl Danios
7. Red Cherry Congo Tetra
8. Dwarf Gouramies
9. German Blue Ram
10. Paradise Fish
Most beautiful fish: without any doubt, the Pseudomugil luminatus!
Yes, they do look small, grey and boring in the pet store when they're young. But if you buy them, put them in a tank with a lot of plants and wait a little while, they will be stunning 😁
Others that's really beautiful in my opinion: other Pseudomugils. Pearl gourami. Other, small gouramis. Guppies. Celestial pearl danio. Scarlet badis.
Oh, and on the subject of cheap fish... I'm tempted to buy white cloud minnows, much because I think that they're beautiful 😅
My most beautiful fish? That’s easy: cichlids and sunfishes with blue or green iridescent spangles, like:
- Jack Dempsey
- Texas cichlid
- Carpinte cichlid
- Blue acara
- Green terror
- Jewel cichlid
- Green sunfish
- Pumpkinseed
- Dollar sunfish
- Redbreast sunfish
- Longear sunfish
All of these fish are like living jewels, and they just amaze me every time I see them.
I have about 100 rosy reds in my 125. They're a great cheap schooling fish to add lots of movement like danios. I have a few feeder goldfish in different tanks and ponds. My local pet store even gave me a 7" feeder last summer because they didn't know what to do with him.
My list for beautiful fish
1. Angelfish
2. Blue acara
3. Severums
4. Pearl gourami
5. Jack Dempsey
6. Kribensis
7. Apistograma
Mollies are in our bonus video for channel members.
Great choices!
There are also lots of cheap tanks and equipment second hand.
Im gonna become a member! When I get paid this week im gonna need a new betta tank. My tank has been leaking since day one. 😢 I definitely will buy from you guys! Y’all inspired me to love fish! The most beautiful fish in my opinion electric blue lobsters, betta fish and I love the white and black clown fish!
my list of beautiful fish:
1. CPDs
2. Forktail Rainbows
3. Guppies
4. Kribensis
5. Cremesicle Lyretail Mollies
Most beautiful submission - Long Fin Venezuelan Corydora Catfish! The Black Cories are also next level! ❤ KGTropicals!
One of the most beautiful freshwater fish are Green Terror Cichlids in my opinion. I also love Giant Gouramis! God Bless! 🤗
We have three Koi and we plan on getting feeder goldfish to put in the pond with them. I can't wait!!!!!!! As always I love the videos!
The most beautiful fish, my opinion, are;
1) Nothobranchius rachovii
2) Aphyosemion australe Orange
3) Scriptaphyosemion schmitti
4) Fundulopanchax sjoestedti
5) Fundulopanchax gardneri nigerianus Misaje
I just love your videos John and Lisa! Your production quality is superb and you always manage to keep them informative and fun! Keep on keepin' on!!❤❤❤❤
I'm in love with my Peacock Gudgeon.I had a trio, Rita, Sue and Bob too!! (If you know, you know) Unfortunately Rita passed away, but Bob and Sue are just stunning and have so much character.
My list of beautiful fish
1. Cardinal tetra
2. Rams (not ballons)
3. Angelfish
4. Discus
5. Guppy
6. Rainbow shark
7. Rainbow fish
Here's my list of the top 10 most beautiful fish:
10: Goldfish
9: Corydoras
8: Freshwater Angelfish
7: Neon Tetras
6: Guppies
5: Blue Wagtail Platies
4: Lionfish
3: Betta Fish
2: Cherry Barbs
1: GloFish
1) Chinese/Gold Barb.
2) Cherry Barb.
3) Platy.
4) Red/Blue Columbian Tetra.
5) Pearlscale Goldfish.
6) Odessa Barb.
Too many to mention for me...
Neocaridina shrimp are great i bought some from flips and theyre doing great for me. I love them.
I know John dislikes them, but my first ever cichlid that I caught and kept was a convict cichlid and I personally adore them haha
(Of course, I quarantine my fish, but the price of a bottle of medicine is better than buying multiple fish).
I trade shrimp🦐 for everything. Today I am picking up a tank and air pump. Friday a LED light👍👍👍
Six Favorite Asian Fish :
1. Scarlett Badis
2. Dwarf Blue Gourami and Pearl Gourami

3. Oscar
4. Corydoras (any sp.)
5. Geophagus Tapajos Red Head
6. German Ram
7. (Bonus) ANGELFISH
I didn't want to mention massive Monsters, so didn't include Snakeheads and other monsters. There are many beautiful colorful monsters. 🙏
I love white cloud minnows, like em more than neon tetras . Like their not too flashy appearance and the fact that they breed so unproblematic. And i also like the longfinned and golden ones
Watching this vid and I see you have did it! 500K!! Well deserved guys. Another informative video! Thanks for the great content
Opaline Blue Gourami ❤.. Ciclets have become my new obsession ❤️🔥
1. Dalmatians/Black's.
2. Serpa tetras
3. Long skirt tetras (white)
Guppies are great! Absolutely beautiful and pretty darn hardy little fish…prolific too 🤓
Of course, the most beautiful fish, hands down, are bettas and angels! Close second are cardinals, only because they are also stunning even from across the room.
List of beautiful fish;
1. pearl gourami
2. channa gachua blue bengal
3. bichir ornatus
i maybe a little bit biased but rainbowfish are my favorite my personal favorite of the rainbowfish are Chilatherina alleni wapoga and emerald rainbowfish
My list of most beautiful fish:
1. Endlers
2. Guppies
3. Jewel Chichlid
4. Tetra (all of them)
5. Danio (all of them)
The most beautiful fish: German Blue ram, rosy barb, denisony barb, discus, pearl gourami, calico angel fish, half-moon beta, tiger barb and some South American jewel cichlids.
Platies rock! Ive got red, yellow and micky mouse, also cardinals and rasboras and the tank looks fantastic
Danios Still have mine that actually started with thanks to yall Haha... Couple Bacopa Caro. And some Windelov Jave Ferns one Good Filter im game
1 Denison Barbs (golds especially)
2 wild type gold barbs
3 odessa barb
4 congo tetra
5 snake skin barb
Yeah I think my next tank should be a barb tank. I only have 2 of the fish on my list.
Congrats on half a MILLION subscribers!!! 🎉It is an insane number, but well deserved 👏 👍🏽
Gold white clouds are such an amazing fish… thinking about adding them to a 20 gallon community..
