as an update, 6 months later we have done zero head cleanings FOR 6 MONTHS. WE USED TO SPEND AT LEAST 2 HOURS A WEEK ON FRIGGEN HEAD CLEANINGS. Also a certain someone who leaned all over the printer yesterday and somehow accidently triggered a head cleaning, and this morning we have our first bad print in 6 months. Vick saves the day (or whole year) again. Thank you
Thanks sooooo much Vicky.. Was starting to panic as I couldnt get rid of banding and I rely on my printer for my canvas business. Didnt even know a power clean existed.. Did exactly what u said but on my 7880.. Prints are now perfect... Wish I'd seen your video a year ago.. U star!!! Tim (Ireland)
Thank you so much for posting this. I've been fighting with our Epson Stylus Pro 4880 printer at work trying to get it to print correctly. After following this video and the other one about cleaning the capping station, it works flawlessly now!
The Sawgrass ArTanium Inks will usually go well beyond their expiration dates. However, the color will begin to lose the vibrancy they once had. Worse case, clogging may occur if they dry out or sit for too long.
Thanks so much for the prompt reply. Actually it was not a printer, I got to know after taking one nozzle check.Nozzle check has all the eight colours but on the PC, the level of magenta is zero. Magenta cartridge is full. Due to this problem I can't print any sheet, came error.
Thanks Vicky. I have a Epson 4880 and my black quit printing. Test print and all colors but black is perfect. I installed new cartridges as well with no success. I performed a deep cleaning with no success. There is zero coming out of black. Not even one dot. Do you suspect the print head itself? I could use any help. Thanks!
I am trying the soaked paper towel cheating method just to see if i can get anything out of it. If not is there a way to test the head itself? Or could it be the supply data to the print head itself?
Hey Vicky, I have a 4000 that has been sitting a couple years. I'd like to take this to dye sub ink. I have 8 carts filled with cleaning solution on the ready to clean the lines. How many power cleaning cycles must I run with cleaner before the lines will be clean enough to make an ink switch? Thanks for all your helpful information.
Here's what we recommend, get the serial number off that 4000 and call a Conde account Manager (800-826-6332), we have a new program starting 10/31/17, (ends 12/31/17) where you can get 4 extra free inks when purchasing the new SG 800 if you "trade in" an Epson. printer - that's a great value! Or, call tech support (if you are our client) and they can help you flush, but it's probably not viable with all that old dried ink in it.
Hi, could you please tell me the possible reasons as i have just got a new Epson 4880 two weeks ago. it was all working fine but now the magenta is continuosly missing. I tried power cleaning as well, changed the cartridges as well.
On this printer if you go more than a day without printing the print head is prone to clog. Magenta is typically the first color to clog. Make sure you run at least a nozzle check once a day. There is a program called Harvey Head Cleaner that you can get and install that will schedule head cleanings on this printer.
I started a power clean as a last resort. It has been doing it for ages! I'd like to stop it before it used ALL my ink up. Any way to stop it? I've tried turning it off and on.
When you start a power clean on an Epson printer the only thing you can do is let it run its course. If you try to stop it most of the time it will just make it start over
Thanks. Gosh I wish I'd known that. However it seemed to not want to stop. Must have gone on for half an hour before I thought hang on! However I did find out that if I took out all cartridges then turned off printer for a while and put them back in it started afresh. Phew.
yo vicky you just saved our business like 10 grand over 10 years. serious big vick energy right here.

It is logical to suspect something wrong with the printer at this point, Most likely it is the print head.
