Boy did this bring back memories. I was stationed at the Navy Academy Hospital 1973-1975. I was a Navy nurse during the Vietnam War and am, therefore, a Vietnam Veteran.

Love your videos! I am 66 yrs old, lived in Maryland all my life (Baltimore), and yes, our Capitol City is beautiful, if you are a tourist, LOL. The dock is called Ego Alley, where all the guys and gals with boats show them off; at 9:40, the county is Anne Arundel (not Arundal), but no worries, we Marylanders just call it Rundle Canny, hon. Population of Annapolis City may not be very big, but the surrounding area is huge, crowded, and you ain't experienced life until you drive to/from/ around Annapolis during rush hour. It is a very old city, and if you drive anything larger than a Yugo it can be frustrating. People are very friendly, they do take pride in Annapolis, and it shows, and there are mostly professional and well-educated people there; as to cost of housing, forget it. Yes, there is plenty to see and do, including boat rides and quaint tours on buses, and walking tours too. If you are an American History buff, this town is definitely on your list.

It’s called Pleb summer! Love this video! My nephew is a graduate of the US Naval Academy, he flew the F-18 Hornet for the Marine Corps for about 2 decades and is a Major General in the United States Marine Corps! We are extremely proud of him, especially when you consider there are only approximately 63 Generals in the entire Marine Corps…. Semper Fi… I do wish you would have explored more of the city but still a great video covering the Academy….

Hi!! I love watching your videos. Thank you so much for taking me along on your trips. I'm disabled and can't walk very well any longer, I use a wheelchair so getting around sometimes is a little harder. I am in Maryland, about 90 minutes away from Annapolis down south. Southern Md, actually. You were asking about the heat, and YES, SIR, it is hot!!! With the humidity, yesterday was about 110 degrees. I haven't been to Annapolis in a few years, so thank you for showing me around!! Please be safe, stay cool, and drink a lot of water!!! Sorry, I just worry about everyone. Especially the folks I see on youtube. Have fun, and thank you!!

Deja Vu: I think I saw once, while visiting the city, that cool corner building with the smokeshop. 20-25 years ago. Man, those Naval Academy buildings are incredible. My architectural training tells me that the excellent wood dome at the statehouse was probably wood joinery: mortise and tenon work. Square holes in the wood with rectangular wood plugs for tenons - that sort of thing.

    • @zorb43

Nails or whatever type of fastener would be utilized nowadays might not have been invented or have been universally available at the time of its construction. Makes one wonder how this structure would have been fashioned today. I suppose it would have been useful to allow ingress of natural light; super important before electric lighting was commonplace; or perhaps as a way to funnel heat higher up, like an inverted cone, away from the main visitor area of the building? It certainly adds a decorative element to the buildings facade...

Thanks so much for featuring my hometown of almost 40 years. As an Annapolis photographer, I have trod over just about every step you took in this video. I have been watching your videos for over a year and have been looking forward to your visit. You’ve done a marvelous job documenting Annapolis and the Naval Academy. By the way, locals never refer to the Naval Academy as “Annapolis” because Annapolis is the city and state capital. I haven’t been to Middleton’s in a long time. Although I figured you’d go there for the history, there are better restaurants in town. As a crabcake maker myself, those cakes do look fabulous. There’s not much bad to say about the place beyond the traffic and the heat. Looks like you missed the traffic, but got nailed by the heat. Ya, that’s Maryland in the summer. Thanks for visiting.

Your video, earlier, was not available, so I found a podcast about the State House. It said that the renovations will attempt to utilize the materials and colors used when the building was built and that this would require some investigation. I found that the room where General Washington resigned his military commission to be very interesting. I wonder just what purpose that room served when this event occurred. The place oozes with history.
Those row houses remind me of similar structures that I have seen on TH-cam of Liverpool in the UK, where a few of The Beatles grew up. They had been renovated, particularly in Dingle, where Ringo grew up. So So, there's a strong British legacy in Annapolis' row houses. All of this is very intriguing and compelling. I appreciate this work you're doing.
P.S. The room where George Washington surrendered his military commission is the old Senate chamber.

Beautiful city it has been a while since I have been there, but yes Maryland summers are very hot and humid, this year has been a little extra blah. You did miss the crypt at the naval academy, but I do not think you are allowed to film there, it does hold the tomb of John Paul Jones, father of the US navy. And the statehouse dome does use wooden pegs instead of nails, there was a fire in the dome in the early 2000s. you were right near the Alex Haley Kunta Kinte memorial at the waterfront.

Annapolis is such a cool, charming town.
Re. weather/climate: Yes, Annapolis (as well as the overall Baltimore/D.C. region) is warm to hot and 1,000 percent humid from late June through to the end of September.
Thank you for visiting the USNA campus. In all my time in Annapolis have not been there.

I’m from Maryland & it’s a very hot summer but we also had a mild winter . From when I was young we really don’t get the snow we use to get if we’re lucky we do . I love all the seasons . Annapolis is beautiful.

Hi, watched this video twice so I could really look at the row houses & downtown. Reminds me alot of areas in/around Plymouth Harbor in MA. My husband & I go down there alot in summer on our Harley. I saw your vid on Plymouth & you missed alot of the beautiful old homes, buildings on the side streets around the harbor. I appreciate you educating us on the different styles of architecture. Thankyou for your videos. Stay safe & hydrated.😊

Great video guys. Sure brought back a lot of memories from when I was there over 40 years ago. And it still looks just as nice. It’s indeed a beautiful city. We had many opportunities to explore a lot of the areas when stationed at Quantico. Beautiful buildings and historic naval sights. And yes anything other than white is more important. LoL don’t ask me how I know. LoL 😂. Great job great commentary and stats. And yes it was a great place to visit but was costly to live in even back in my time. My favorite part is the waterfront areas. Use to be some great restaurants close. With excellent seafood. Thanks for the ride along safe travels my friend. Keep filming I’ll keep watching
