Curry sauce with chips is a thing i’ve never encountered before in my life. But now 3 of my favourite TH-camrs, you, a scottish lady and an english camper vanning couple have all shown me chips with curry sauce within about a month. Maybe it’s the universe telling me to give it a go 🤷🏼♀️
I’m English born,and raised,but live in the US,and I left the UK before anyone was eating curry,and chips,and the idea doesn’t appeal to me at all.I left there before there were Chinese takeouts too. I don’t like soggy chips,I don’t even put ketchup on them,so I know I wouldn’t like curry sauce on them.😊
I'm looking forward to your next video using this paste Rik and I'll certainly be giving it a crack. One of my favourite Aussie Chinese restaurant foods from the 1970's was, and still is, Curried Prawns and Rice. It's now again on my list to do list very soon.

Curried Prawns and Rice for dinner tonight. This is so easy, and I will never need to buy another block of Golden Curry.

Great to watch your techniques. Visual instruction helps me build confidence. And using oil and flour in a paste allows me to use up some cooking oil that is okay but not a great flavour and some flour that has been stored for quite awhile. The waste not want not motto in action.

Doing a chicken curry tomorrow, I'll be given an honest review,Cheers Rik 👍🏻 Update: Done the curry and it was first class, remember recipes are just templates so everyone needs to make the dish to their own tastes,I added about a tsp of chilli flakes and some soy sauce,it was delicious also some potato flakes ( a thickener) turned out better than shop bought,Def a keeper!! Hi Rik brilliant recipe!! However I would like to ask if you have easy recipes for courgettes?? I have a glut and today made some of your potato pastry and rolled out and filled with courgettes, carrot and onions . Cooked in the airfryer but was such a faff I gave up!!!! Just wondering if you have a simple recipe to use up courgettes this time of year!! Good one my friend love it!!!
To use up large quantities you will have to look at a chutney or relish. Other than that its a soup. There are so many dishes using courgettes however only small amounts. Thank you. Best, Rik
Great timesaver, It's always been advised to slowly cook out the flour/paste mixture over a period of time to prevent a graineness in texture, how did the texture of this quick paste compare to that of a longer cook time

Hi rick just a quick question if you don't mind I often get a beef curry from our local Chinese takeaway But 10 minutes in it's starts to go watery and like a powder starts floating on the top and it allways ends up like a liquid I have complained to them but they said its OK so I stopped buying takeaway curry unless it was Indian thanks for sharing this recipe going give it ago

On a scale 1-10, where 1 equates to stickin' your tongue out the window, and 10 equates to a flamethrower, how hot would you say this is? I ask as my wife suffers from reflux and acid indigestion if the meal is too spicy. If e.g. this would be a 7 or 8, how can I bring it down to e.g. a 3 or 4? Less curry and more sugar? I use a _Madras_ curry powder in my curry dishes... Look forward to your reply ☺️👍

Hi Rik, for the gluten free, can you use cornflower or non gluten flour...
Flour is used as the thickener, so gluten free ok - cornflour would thicken this like concrete so not that one. Thank you. Best, Rik

Hi Rik brilliant recipe!! However I would like to ask if you have easy recipes for courgettes?? I have a glut and today made some of your potato pastry and rolled out and filled with courgettes, carrot and onions . Cooked in the airfryer but was such a faff I gave up!!!! Just wondering if you have a simple recipe to use up courgettes this time of year!! Good one my friend love it!!!
To use up large quantities you will have to look at a chutney or relish. Other than that its a soup. There are so many dishes using courgettes however only small amounts. Thank you. Best, Rik

Great timesaver, It's always been advised to slowly cook out the flour/paste mixture over a period of time to prevent a graineness in texture, how did the texture of this quick paste compare to that of a longer cook time

Great channel , changed to your recioes for yorkshire puds/ roasties in air fryer , going to try this but how important is the Korean chilli powder ? Will normal chilli powder do ? .Have you done a chow mein recipe ? I can never get the sauce right, close but never as good as my local take away.

Thank you. The Korean has more flavour and less heat. Normal chilli powder just watch how spicy it is, Chinese curry isn't too spicy. . Best, Rik

may I ask what curry powder you used please .... I made this today and just used the "Maharajan" brand in Mild and the colour is more brown than yellow ... I realise it may not effect the taste ... I was just wondering. I am in Melbourne Australia ... thank you Rick @backyardchef

Hi rick just a quick question if you don't mind I often get a beef curry from our local Chinese takeaway
But 10 minutes in it's starts to go watery and like a powder starts floating on the top and it allways ends up like a liquid I have complained to them but they said its OK so I stopped buying takeaway curry unless it was Indian thanks for sharing this recipe going give it ago

@BackyardChef - thanks so much for this quick and eady to make recipe Rik! On a scale 1-10, where 1 equates to stickin' your tongue out the window, and 10 equates to a flamethrower, how hot would you say this is? I ask as my wife suffers from reflux and acid indigestion if the meal is too spicy.
If e.g. this would be a 7 or 8, how can I bring it down to e.g. a 3 or 4? Less curry and more sugar? I use a _Madras_ curry powder in my curry dishes...
