I have an older version of this it's a 24'' model. Bought it in 99' and it's all red. I have an adjustable through dovetail template and 1/2'' half blind templates only. Never used the through dovetail but the half blinds work great. Thanks for posting.

Great Video! My mini 7 degree 9/32 router bit which came with the Porter Cable jig needs replacing. Do you know where we can find a router bit to replace?

Hi - Love the video - I have a porter cable 4216 and recently purchases a vacuum attachment for it at a woodworkers warehouse - it works great and reduces the amount of dust by 90%

The brand is VRS1200 from Leigh.....to set up the cut with the vacuum system in place can be challenging, so I first set up for the cut and then install the vacuum. It works very well.

I like how you have it right by the miter station. When I go to make portable miter saw wings, I am going to make a hole for the bolts to go through the wing just like this so I can cut drawers on site. Very good run down of the process for making them, thanks!

I just got this jig a few months ago. Just used it this week end with less that acceptable results. I really appreciate your video, shows me that the tool is very good when used properly and enough practice time invested. I am willing to do the work, but I hope to figure it all out on pine which is somewhat affordable. I really need to find a local source for some hardwoods that will not break the bank. Liked and Subscribed.

When you do the pins, how do you flip the board? Is it the same as when you do the dovetails?
Flip top to bottom it takes a little practice for sure
So I just took delivery of that jig today. I played around with it for a couple of hours without reading anything. I could not figure out what I was doing wrong until I watched this. Thanks.
It took me longer lol ,i wasted alot of wood but i got it dialed in know ,thanks for watching
Do you think it would be worth it to just have tworouters.im thinking the festool with dust collection system.
Tony Tunnell definitely, the festool are supposed to be really good
I use 2 routers, 1 set up for tails and the other set up for pins. There is a convenience to it but, also, there is the reliability and consistency of the router bit set-up. There is a also the issue of the time it takes to remove the bit, replace it and then do several test cuts to insure the set-up.
On the dust collection, I use a Leigh dust collector which attached to the Porter Cable 4216 that I use. It collected about 90% of the dust and chips. Setting it up can be a pain, but it does work. Now there is the issue of what do you do when you need to flip the template. To make sure the template does not move I have lock nuts installed behind the gold knob. It works very well
Excellent tutorial! Question...You explained how to flip the dovetail board 180 degrees but didn't explain/ demonstrate how to flip the pin boards. You mentioned flipping 180 degrees doesn't work for the pin boards. Can you explain how you flipped the pin boards? Thanks from Canada.
Actually that was wrong ,I started thinking about it and you can rotate the dovetails front to back towards machine ,however you can't do that with pins ,pins need to be rotated clockwise facing machine, sorry about confusion hope that helps (takes some practice for sure

This is why the jig really doesnt work that well. It is glossed over in every tutorial vid. Rotating the tail board end for end places any variation on the same side. This will translate to the top or bottom of the drawer. All tail boards will be the same. The problem comes when you cut the pin board. Because it is rotated clockwise or counter clockwise any variation ends up on the opposite sides of the piece. This causes the variation to be doubled. When you assemble the drawer the variation is quadrupled. The only solution I have found is to cut the joint very loose and that is not what quality dovetails should look like.

I have been operating on the assumption the problem is something I was doing wrong. Anyhow, I will be viewing more of your vids--liked and subcribed!!
Just bought one pf these, before its too late. Haven't used it yet. Leigh makes the VRS1200, which is a router support/dust collector for the PC 4200 series dt jigs.

You say the word depth repeatedly, and then infer that the two are different. And yet the instructions say 3/8 for all depth. Which is silly. Any ideas? WHat do you set the two depths to? And what do you think of the half blinds?
I struggled in the beginning,I practiced with some scrap till it was perfect,I messed up a few in the beginning,there’s a adjustment for depth ,it’s been a while since I used it,it did work good once I got it set up right

You should rotate the tail boards instead of flipping them over or you will always have an offset!

@@OutlawWoodworking Thanks for this video. I was struggling with the offset issue then I came across your video and figured out what I was doing wrong. If you do a follow-up video I would suggest emphasizing what @daniel said "You should rotate the tailboards instead of flipping them over or you will always have an offset" this is a key point that other videos miss.
