One thing I did was took lots of photos with my friends during freshers and pinned them up next to photos of my friends and family from home. It helps you to not feel so home sick. A lot of people look at photos of back home and feel like they're missing out, but by having photos of your uni life shows you you're not alone. Uni is a once in a lifetime experience, it is nothing to be anxious about, to anyone reading this who is going this year- grab this opportunity with both hands, you will flourish, enjoy your time there!

I’m kind of glad freshers isn’t happening this year as I can settle in and feel more comfortable without the pressure of going out and constantly being busy/socialising
Same, especially since I personally don't drink so it'll probably be easier to bond with my flatmates without the pressure of getting drunk with them haha

Phoebe Jones I’m going to the university of York and we’re still having a freshers, they built a festival ground with tipis and yurts for the whole of the first term and they’re only allowing 500 students in at a time socially distanced. So we’re getting a whole term of freshers haha x

Im about to go to university, and one thing I would say is that just because we can't have the typical freshers experience this year - we are still there for Second and Third year (at least!), so hopefully when all is normal we can always join in with some of those activities haha! Thank you for the video, was very helpful and oh my lord it is becoming so real

Good luck everyone moving!! Try not to stress to much and you will have a fab time, make the most of it cause it flies by!! Try not to overpack cause it will be a pain to move and you can always pick up stuff when your at uni X

Such great advice for people moving to uni! 💗 I've heard from a few people as well saying they haven't got in to montague burton so think our promotion of it and saying how good it was has caused it to be oversubscribed this year 🥴🤦🏼♀️😂

I was in Devonshire but applied to Henry Price in first year. Dev has some strict rules like no noise past 11 but its a lovely and sociable accommodation, so pretty and i loved it so much!! have fun!! XXX

I am moving to Leeds next week to study Biology. Would you recommend starting a part time job in the first year or not? I can barely afford all the expenses, so a job would be really helpful for me and my family. However I am afraid that I might miss things, like socializing, having hobbies and generally free time, or even not having enough time to study.

its so sad because of covid at leeds we arent allowed to have people in our flats if they dont live there so if we dont get on with our flatmates we're stuck with them:/

This May be a silly question, but I’m from the US and am applying to universities in the UK! Do you have your own bedroom in most of the housing accommodations?
At most schools here we have to share a dorm, I’m just curious :)
In most unis you get your own room, but some do have options for roommates - i have a couple of friends in larger universities in london who share rooms to make it more affordable (london is extortionate lol)
We have this sem online...it sucks...I miss going physically to classes and meeting people and friends!!!
the upside is that we have more control over when we want to do the lecture or seminar tho

You could try looking for Facebook group chats on messenger. that's what i did and it helped a lot!!

how did you join your accom groupchat, i’m nervous because i don’t know anyone in my accom yet!! :(((
If you have Facebook, sometimes you can join Freshers groups for your uni on there! And then people tend to post in them asking about accom and if anyone is in there x
Pretty sure I went through a link where you then selected what house you're gonna be in, which then said what the official Facebook page for that house is. But can't find where I got the link from. It should be '[House name] Official group 2020/2021'.

@@Sophie-yt7ee Yes, but for some groups, there might be a student admin who likes to confuse people and rename my accom group chat '#downwithbarneythesequel' instead of Accom name Official group 2020.
