I just finished my finals for my first year of uni and holy shit, I can totally agree to the part about LOADS of work. The workload is insane. I was a pure science student in high school and I took finance as a major for degree and jfc accounting has been so difficult
I found it interesting to hear how you found taking a brand new subject in university. I do history and politics dual honours and whilst I took history during A levels, I've never done politics before. I actually found I was on an even basis with those who did politics at A level and I pretty much got the same/better marks as them! I genuinely didn't find it too bad starting a brand new subject, but I can completely see how business especially finance would be difficult to adapt to!
Jojo And no friends Hey! I really enjoy it. I find generally the people in politics are interesting and quite vocal with opinions and in discussion compared to history (in my uni anyway!) I find my modules super interesting as well (this semester I take foreign policy and Russian politics, for an insight) I’m at Keele uni so definitely a less well known uni but it’s actually 3rd in the UK for politics behind Cambridge and Oxford, so the staff are amazing and super approachable and friendly! I’m in my second year now and I plan to specialise in politics next year, though I’ll still get a dual history and politics degree. Hope this helped!
@@paigebrown7215 oh, I'm thinking of doing Philosophy and Politics at Keele! Would you mind giving me some opinions on the uni? The subject, but also what you thought of the environment, the nightlife, etc. Thank you so much!
Just wondering, what made you want to do a business course and not one of your A levels or one which relates more so to them? Is it because you thought it would be the most useful choice being a TH-camr and potentially growing your brand further? X
Literally loved watching this, I can relate to so much of what you're saying, I also found first year of uni SO much harder than A-Levels and couldn't believe how many people told me beforehand that it would be easier! Also 1 year in and I still haven't managed how to balance nights out and getting work done, the day after is always such a write off for me (oops!)
Very interesting seeing your perspective of university! (I, too, am in my first year) And amazing how some experiences are similar, and some are completely different.
Thanks for yet another informative video In Uni, you also face some toxic people taking undue advantage of you...How about a let's talk about "how to deal with toxic people"(especially when you have been assigned the same activity)
Don't worry about accounting it will just take some time to get your head around it. My sister studies business management at Edinburgh and I know she is finding accounting the most challenging module too.
The accounting is hard the way I got better at is it doing practice question and writing my own notes I felt that the ones I got were over complicating things
My biggest issue when it comes to ‘fears’ of freshers is I physically can’t drink and get a certain level of normal drunk without getting a hangover the next day. And I mean like throwing up for hours. And I’m also quite shy so don’t wanna get left out if I. Not hammered
As frustrated as I get with my education system as a person from the US, I will say one of our strengths is that we have a lot of requirements so we have to take at least a semester of econ, gym, health, gov and four years of core subjects, two years of a foreign language, a CTE course, and a PAVA course
Amazing that you’ve settled well & are active in things!! Have a fab experience! But it really bugs me when people say “you’re so busy the first few weeks” “hectic freshers” you this & you that. It isn’t always true. You may personally have settled quickly but soo many people struggle with this and hearing how others go on about how busy everyone is with their social life really doesn’t help.
I am in the exact same position as you, I'm studying management with marketing. I have never done economics, accounting, statistics etc etc etc before, so it's so frustrating to try and keep up with all of this brand new information. I know first year doesn't even count but still I am stresssssssed. Best of luck to you x

I also want to add that politics is massively opinion based and doing history essays also helped me hugely as the essay style is somewhat similar!
@@paigebrown7215 Hi! I'm interested in doing a joint honours in politics, what's studying politics like ? 😊

Like we'd never find ourselves is your situation because we would have been exposed to the subject in some shape or form

@@fatimah3228 yess loll 😅😅😂😂
Never been this early. Hey Lydia
Why are you so beautiful??😍
Are you able to choose your flat to be only girls?
not sure about Leeds specifically but most uni accommodations will allow you to choose between mixed or single gender accommodation
Yes, at Leeds you can specify your preference to be only girls (or only boys, if you're a guy!)
Philippa Ettrick but are also girl and boy dorms? Or just separate girl and separate boy
❤❤
What did u get in your a levels
