Hey Mike, possible video series on creating a room scene for a IKEA like catalogue ?(forgot the term for it) . Going through steps of how to make it look realistic and not like a 3D render. Would be awesome !
Arnold tends to be an ass about turning on settings. When we create a light, for goodness' sake turn on the damn light, at any intensity, by default! But no, you have to turn it on, then crank up the exposure and the intensity! I literally was mad at Maya for giving me black renders all the time when I first played with it! Thank you for the tutorial, Mike!
@@purpleohm1440 You mean I should go and read the Arnold documentation? Because every TH-camr I watched use Intensity AND exposure to adjust the lights. I'm still a student so obviously I don't know everything like you do. Hey, I had a look at your channel and I'm glad I found some pretty awesome people you follow there! Are you a practicing artist?
Hey Mike I'm an automotive modeler and I'm working on a dodge challenger now, in that car's headlight we got a tube ring with ridges inside. I'm new to lighting so can you make a tutorial on how to emit a light from that tube and tube with inside ridges visible at the same time.
hi, few years late. Ive done this and it looks well, but i keep getting the error "no polymesh linked to mesh_light", any idea what to do. I tried on another object aswell which worked until i copied it. The lamp i have now is copied and works fine, but shows that error. Any idea? And thank you for your video.
I'm trying to make a long skinny rectangle into a mesh light, but the line only emits from the center of the rectangle? And it doesn't glow like yours. it kind of casts the light below. When I render it, the scene is kind of lit up, but the rectangle is still black.
Arnold is more realistic than mental ray. What i find hard with arnold is the lighting and lighting rays. Also, doesn't arnold take longer for rendering time than mental ray?
Hey Its Mike Hermes.. you know when ypu start searching for maya tutorials Mike will be there somewhere like getting in the water for a swim you know theres a shark out there somewhere. ..not that Mike is a shark.. im not implying anything like that.

Nice, can't wait for the work you will be showing from your subscribers :)
First one coming Friday !
Mike you should be using the arnold render viewer, found in the arnold tab along the top. It's way faster
Great help and a tutorial! Thanks so much!
Super helpful tutorial, thanks!

¿Is it possible to turn one of these lights into a volumetric light in the same scene, while the others are normal?. Only one of the lights.

Do tutorial on venom deformation.
How come yours still lights up even though your exposure is set to zero?
I have to set my Exposure to like, 20 before I see any light at all.
Cool it is easier to handle it than mental ray thanks 👍
Thanks Nestor
could you make the wiggles Big Red Car? from 2012 cause i need to make my own mesh of it. so i can impress my friends.
The earth isn’t changing my model, it just stays white, do you know why this would be?
