Oh, I loved this one. I love how the story is told from the perspective of the alien, how the human is barely doing anything but walking and how the alien is slowly realising what an endurance hunter is. For the algo than is rhytm (totally stole this one from another comment), for the almighty literate rodent!
Persistence Predator: Me thinks if those alien characters realized what games human children play, like Tag, Kick the bucket, Blinds man bluff, Marco Polo... All innocent persistence predator practice games. (A unique inborn skill set!) They wouldn't even dare to come close to Sol. 😁
If these xenos truly think prey species are weak, they should spend time with some of the more vicious prey species on earth. Kangaroos, water Buffalo, moose, zebras, elephants... These animals are not passive and weak
From the description given this took place sometime in Earth's past. But still, the descriptions of the various animals is confusing. Bison, kangaroos and horses? Together? Still, the persistence predator took out the ambush predator.
All I can say is don't be edible. Check out "Long Pork" recipes from Chinese ships to the left coast in the late 1800s. Ever hear of "being shanghaied"?
Ambush hunter against persistence hunter in a savanna... There is no contest.
Tiger vs human...
I love hfy, but some story concepts are, um, far fetched.
@@DanJones-np8xb Tigers DON'T live in savannas but in dense jungles.

He was lucky. They didn't say "Release The Karen."
no shit, huh?

A slow and arduous hunt. The human had the advantage because everything can become a weapon for the human.

Gotta love persistence. Many thanks, Agro. All the best!
Great story; Excellent narration! Humanity has always weaponized rocks! LOL!!!
Poor xeno had no chance. This is why pursuit predators are terrifying.
Sometimes it’s better to fight before you exhaust yourself totally running.
Humans are coming across like a theb T-800 Terminator.
Somebody needs to send this "High Tyrant" out on one of these "hunts".

Water buffalo are an annoyance compared to the cape buffalo he was worried would walk over him.
Poor, small, specialized ambush T-Rex had no chance against a generalized persistence hunter, especially a hungry one.
But do they taste good?
@@spacedwarfbrewing2385 US Army survival school taught me that if you are hungry enough, you can eat just about anything.
It's true. Humans can eat just about anything, especially if we have ketchup. (Pun intended.)
@@OverstuffedDragon now I'm thinking about dino nuggies and ketchup.
For the Algorithm, for the Author(s), for the Disembodied Voice!
I really like hearing your voice in narration

Cape buffalo, gazelles, zebras, brown skinned humans on a savanna. He's playing on the Africa server
@@Adiscretefirm Sounds right, thank you. I've not seen cape buffalo. The description fit bison as well.
@merlinathrawes746 check them out, more humans killed every year than any of the predators in Africa, nickname is Black Death
@@merlinathrawes746 They are similar-ish. I think both have "attitudes," too, so. Probably evolutionary cousins.

Yep and yup. None of it good. We even have an old Shanghai tunnel here in town someone turned into a bar. They call it, "The Shanghai Underground".
