    Have you ever overwatered your microgreens and had problems arise?

    • @DonnyGreens
      @DonnyGreens  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Every now and then haha. I tend to slightly overwater my crops in general but because I control all other factors well, I rarely have any problems! 🌱💚

      My tray dont sit on top of each other easily, we dont have those here in India. So i added a plastic below my tray and put some water in it, and then in the morning i saw my greens were fallen down. I thought it was because of over watering but then you told it was dry. But yes, last week my cilantro got wasted because of overwatering.

      I grow wheatgrass and sunflower greens in solid cafeteria trays and get great results. I Water just enough to get the soil damp. usually a good Watering in the morning and a light spray at night. Once they reach a certain height they do not need as much Water in the morning

    I'm waiting for my farm to be shipped to me. I'll be growing on a similar rack to yours. Height is 75inches. I'll be growing from 10 of the best trays on the market, from Bootstrapfarmer. 10 because that's what I can afford including the shelf, the lights, growing medium, seeds..you get the idea. I'm sure you understand very well. I took a lot of your recommendations into consideration. What I can have as an exact copy, I bought. What I had to compromise due to price is of great consideration over other similar products. In the end. I'm grateful for being able to get this show on the road. Also, my fiance is finally getting behind me on this. More than just a ,"good luck". More like, "we're going into business to better ourselves and the community!".

    I am thinking this is a stupid question but almost all black 1020 trays are sold out. Does color affect growth? Do other colors than black allow light in? What is the reason that black is used so much more than colors or white?

    So with having a tray without holes and a tray with holes sitting inside of it, how much gap would you say is in between the bottom of each tray? In other words how close are the bottoms from each other, 1/4”-3/8”-1/2”??
    Next question after that, I would assume you need to fill it above whatever gap that is so the tray with holes actually can receive the water? I don’t really see how the micro greens can drink the water unless the tray bottoms are actually sandwiched together which I don’t think they are. Thanks

    • @DonnyGreens
      @DonnyGreens  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      i think your'e thinking to much. just put the trays together and grow

    • @joyflg1rl
      @joyflg1rl 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DonnyGreens I also have this question and am having a really hard time finding an answer. I think the folks who grow microgreens all the time take this one part so completely for granted that it doesn’t occur to them to explain. If you’re a person doing this for the first time, like me, it’s really unclear. I’m using my own materials, because I’m just starting out and don’t need anything remotely so big. But, it’s really not clear to me if the two containers are just totally nested inside of one another and, if that is the case, where there is space for water (and ultimately roots) without drowning the plant. Or is there supposed to be a little space between the top tray and the bottom tray, which leaves room for roots and water, and, if so, how big that space should be. It’s a meaningful question if you’re trying to create your own setup out of materials you have on hand or if you’re trying to understand the depth of trays to buy and whether the trays with holes should be of a shallower depth than the ones without holes. I came searching through all the comments hoping someone has asked this question and that it had been answered. Can you please speak to this?

    Hi, Thank you for great content . I'm currently working on my setup and starting slow . Would you consider deeper lower tray with shallow on the top ? reason for asking is price in bulk . I totally understand your approach for upper tray but what you think about lower would deeper work just fine ? To make more sense .. prices on deeper trays are way cheaper Im also considering cutting then down what you think .

    Big fan of bottom watering! One question before I start an experiment...has anyone tried bottom watering with no medium? Barley fodder is something you can grow in 1020 trays without a medium but most folks I've seen do it use top watering. I'll go ahead and give it a whirl but wanted to see if anyone had success bottom watering with no medium....
